My Focus ST225 Finally gets the exhaust it deserves (SOUNDS INSANE) 3” Straight Pipe CatBack

This is a video I’ve been wanting to make for as long as I’ve owned the focus. The main reason why I love these cars is that five cylinder engine under the bonnet and in today’s video it finally gets the exhaust it deserves.
Big thanks to one of one custom autos who worked with me on the price and design of the exhaust. I absolutely love it and can’t recommend them enough.

It was quite a cheap exhaust setup compared to a proper 3” system with mufflers etc. most exhaust shops would be able to replicate it for you.

Also, please for the love of god do NOT get the pops and bangs maps! I think you know it will shaft your engine quicker than you can say "Antisocial Behaviour", not least you will get better performance with a decent map. I have just received my Dreamscience iMap which contains stages 1 - 3.5 for a single cost, I'd say its worth it.

I agree. I’m not keen on a pop and bangs tune I’m more focused on having the most efficient performance I can get out of the car

Whats it like on long open roads like motorways? Is there any drone? Im on my 3rd exhast system now as i can't quite find the right one. Ive got the full miltek system at the minute and was wondering about having the same done as you have.

Is there any drone? I have a mongoose full 3" system with decat and have drone around 2.5k rpm. Got a Sports Cat to go on, but still want a nice noise, considering doing a change to the backbox like you have!

I’m quite bias because all of my cars I’ve owned have had exhausts so I tolerate quite a lot. But I don’t think it’s drones at all. I’ve taken it on long drives (3 hours) and it’s very liveable. Is not to loud around town but very loud on boost so I think it’s perfect

What is the track day you are going to head along too?

I’ve signed up for something called HD auto here. It’s a membership to my local race track (Hampton Downs) where they host proper track days once (ish) a month. You need full race suit etc and all the other attendees have fairly serious cars and I’ve signed up in the focus! So planning to do a track day once a month and keep improving the focus along the way. Very excited about it and looking forward to bringing you guys some more content!

It will be too loud for wof and won’t be legal because you have to have a minimum of one silencer weather it be a muffler or a resonator

What's it like over there with insurance and modifications?

Insurance isn’t a legal requirement here so it’s really cheap, can even drive around with no insurance at all. Prices are silly like they are in the uk either like £250-£500 a year for someone my age on this car. Mods however is the downside. These cars aren’t popular here so there’s next to no parts for them, everything has to come from the uk or aus which is expensive to ship + import taxes. Still cheaper for me to own it here in Nz though compared to the uk

@@K666_ANB so road tax is really good here as well. It’s the same price for every vehicle which is £55 🤣 because the money is for maintaining the roads, not about the car’s efficiency or pollution like it is in the uk. So it’s cheap here for road tax

Its just gone up to £420 a year here so I'm thinking of selling up, its bloody more than my insurance all mods and remap to 340bhp declared and what doesn't make sense is if it's that bad on emissions which is where the cars taxation class comes from, why the hell is it ULEZ compliant, im sure youve heard about the ULEZ from your UK friends?
