My Folding Touring Bike. The Bike Friday New World Tourist.

Ill be heading off to the EU for a few months of this year. This is a description of my folding travel/touring bike. I talk about the modifications and restoration I did to get this Bike Friday New World Tourist up and running. I also go over my racks and baggage for the trip. The bike rack and bags empty ended up a little under 25lbs which is fairly good for such a small efficient and fun to ride bike.

Been watching all your videos. What a great way for us to see what a bike tour looks like. What a wealth of knowledge your sharing. I would like to tell you about your pedals. They were designed by Grant Peterson of Riv Bikes. He called them Grip Kings, MKS the Jp builder of them. Calls them Lambda when they are sold to be qr pedals. Both my wife and I have them on our NWT bike Fridays. I think the name you said Magura only makes the best brakes in the world, never heard of any else by them.

Your quite right. I must have swapped the names around. But they are MKS peddles and they worked flawlessly for the tour.

Hey man. Love your stuff. The bike ended up working very well. I'll have to post another video on what I need to change for next time. Did you see my front rack? Too small for you?

@@mattmcconnell6870 Looked good, the front rack doesnt have to be too big, it just holds the weight rest of the load can be held tightly with inner tube rubber. Having slightly small rack is better for folding the bike and packing it for travel too. My first time in Holland i got one of those dutch bikes too with the big front racks it was pretty cool

It did end up working well. I like how it attaches to the bike. Although the first bit of inner tube I brought with me snapped and I had to replace it with a thin road innertube which turned out to be more durable.

I suggest getting a quadlock phone mount for you phone

Quad lock systems are amazing. Sadly also rather expensive. I don't ride with my phone on my bars often enough to justify the cost I don't think. But if I normaly kept my phone on my bars a quad would definitely be a good choice.

The best part being that they come with spare parts. A full leaver assembly has to be pulled off of each one. So if and when the time comes I can use them to replace the parts on there now.
