Word of warning, be careful with nib selection on an M1000. The nib is very soft and wet and writes much broader than you would imagine. I have large hands, but prefer the nibs on the M800 models, I have six based on the M800 and have sold several. My M1000 has the translucent barrel which helps a great deal.

_Time With TATA_ *TIME STAMP* 0:49~~#1...When did your fountain pen journey begin? 2:34~~#2...Favorite inks in the beginning? Favorite inks now? 7:16~~#3...How have your pen and ink tastes changed over time? 9:17~~#4...Are there inks and pens that you have yet to try but would like to? 12:49~~#5...What is your Holy Grail Pen? 14:15~~#6...How many pens do you currently own? 15:12~~#7...Do you have a limit on pens (or inks) in your collection? Is it a number? a feeling? What is the max? 17:49~~#8...Consequently, what would you do if another pen/ink came along? **************************************** Better late than never , Tate... 1:28 , The brush lettering technique introduced to me , after months of struggle was from this old japanese artist....he retrained me , to use only the tip of the brush, to make my letters, than when I got quick with brush tip writing, I would learn to apply the pressure to the letters...this was backwards from traditional lessons..but it worked , for me. 1:48...I love my Pilot Kakuno's (I have the whole family edition and the pastels and the demonstrator) ...they never fail in putting down flowin ink and I have no fears, of damaging them, loosing them, or having someone else walk away with them. LOL. The $17 pilot kakuno's 'nibs' are the exact same as Pilot Metropolitans and the Pilot Prera's ..They write beautifully but they don't have those bonus, emotionally expressive fun faces..🙂🙂 Now I am buying up all the *Budget* Demonstrator / Clear Body pens , that I can find. What is it that attracts me to these types of pens ? Through my research , I've discovered that most of these pens that are decorated, are made of the same Arcylic plastic resins, but an art image, particular color is added on...with the exception of the rare material fountain pens , such as : ✒ex: Benu's 'Shooting Star' - has meteorite dust and glows in the dark. ✒other rare pen materials will use "Mammoth ivory / ✒F.Castell's FP : horses mane and tail hair / ✒Caran d'ache 18ct Yellow Gold , White gold , Rose Gold , Sterling Silver , Diamonds, rubies etc. ✒Celluloid shavings ....modern celluloid pens tend to be extremely expensive, because the material is time-consuming to make and requires years to cure before it can be turned into a pen, makes it a rare material for fountain pens. ✒Rare plant and wood materials : Ebonite, Brazil wood fountain pens, are rare, cause humans are destroying the brazil forests for resources and greed and materials are now rare. Making them expensive to have in a fountain pen. *************************************************************** Well done , I vibed with many of your responses to the 8 questions.. especially how your budget mindset, rubber dollar stretching , to obtain your Pen collection. and how you USE each pen , and it is not a Dust collector in your display storage cases. 😍👍💓💗💖

I enjoy your vids except for the Juicy Broad ones, which for me, are too long. The shorter ones are, as Goldilocks said, "just right." I have 21 Pelikans, some of which are SEs. I have 2 M800s, a black and a green-stripe. The red- and blue-stripe versions don't appeal to my aesthetic taste. I have two Toledos; an M700 and a recently acquired M900. When I bought the M700 I thought it was an M900, and couldn't believe it was only $700. I always used to get my Pelikans with a M nib, because that was my habit with all pens, but then I got an M400 vintage green-stripe Pelikan, and it came with a F nib. Now I buy Pelikans with only XF or F nibs, because the Ms look like a broad nib to me. The only B nibs I have, I use for signature pens. When people talk about how they became "religiously" associated with fountain pens, it was at first forced upon me. In high school, any tests or work that had to be turned in had to be written with a fountain pen. The school book store sold Sheaffer transparent barreled cartridge pens for $1.00 apiece. I still have a red one. At the time, I didn't like using fountain pens, because ballpoint pens were coming into fashion in the '60s, and they were much more convenient t to use. I got back to the "joy of fountain pens" when I became a Xerox copier tech in December of '82. I was using Parker T-ball Jotters with the "new" gel ink to fill out the machine logs until i saw a new Pilot Varsity FP in the trash at an account, still in the packaging. Believing it had fallen off a nearby table, I took it out and gave it to the key-op. He said he'd thrown it away; didn''t want it. So, at my next account, I used it to fill out the machine log and was amazed at how smooth the nib was, and how well the ink flowed. From that point on, I was hooked on FPs. The problem with Varsities is that they are throw-away pens, and I don't believe in wasting perfectly good pens. I see that when people recommend "starter" pens to others, they usually give inexpensive brands from Lamy, Pilot, TWSBI, &c, but I always recommend Varsity, because they are extremely affordable and they come with quite a choice of ink colors.

I'm with you, re: inking pens right away! I buy pens to use them, not to keep them in a drawer in pristine condition. In the pocket knife community, they call a knife a "safe queen" when it's kept in a drawer and never carried.

Loved this video, Lori! I tried to not keep track of my pens, but I broke down and showed Lao, who also keeps a log of his pen-ventory! The Sailor "Every Rose" was one of my first fountain pen purchases, also in a Medium Fine, which I adore. My Sailor Hachimonjiya Kubozakura is a Medium nib and I definitely have to be in a mood to use it! Can't wait to see your new Sailor! -- Kim

Thank you Kim!! So happy to hear that you love your "Every Rose" I've been wanting to have a PG in the MF for a while. I think this will be such a nice addition to my collection and I'm proud of myself for getting something other than tan, cream, beige or brown! 😂 I do have a spreadsheet that I add to periodically but I've never counted them (or tallied up the cost...that's the scary part!)

What fun! I enjoyed thinking about my fountain pen journey (since 1970, quite slow for first half century) as background for your story. ... Ancient Copper -- a sample that has gone big bottle. ... Permission to get a nice pen: has led to Yard-O-Led Viceroy Grand Victorian. Still don't have the nerve or budget to spring for a Taccia, or King of Pen, or Emperor! ... Inexpensive pens: I love to gift them, too. I wish I ran across more people who are excited about them. Thanks for a fine video!

Thank you for your kind message! I just looked up your nice pen...wow! It's beautiful. I think that a bottle of ancient copper is definitely in my future. I especially love those ink shades in the fall! I truly enjoy pens in all price brackets. Sometimes the less expensive ones that perform really well bring me the most joy!

Great Video! I love hearing about how your journey began. Mine started much like yours. Where I saw several of the planner content creators I watch using them. Then I saw Helen's Ink swatch video and I fell in love with Fuyu-syogun... And the rest is history! Now deep into my ADHD obsession, I am having the time of my life!
