I was there last week for Thanksgiving, went to Bob Slate Stationers first time, bought the Pelikan M200 Golden Beryl (and Diamine 2023 Inkvent walnut), how fun to hear you talk about the pen here! I’m loving the pen/ink combo right now and look forward to more of your videos. (I also visited Topdrawer and Boston General Store in Brookline for stationery goodies, and we had brunch at Trident Booksellers and Cafe, delish!)

Hello! What are your thoughts between the Leonardos and Esterbrook Esties? I see the both have similar cracked material looks but it seems from the pictures online and videos that Leonardos are more colorful and shine more. Atlas Stationers are the closest store to me but they don’t seem to have the Leonardos I’m interested in comparing.

The comment the viewer made wasn't mean. It's really weird you took it as such. People are hurting and compassion is warranted. A lot of these channels have an impact on people they enjoy and want to participate but everything seems to be so cost prohibited. Providing content that includes lower cost options doesn't hurt, especially since everything seems to be geared for YOLO consumerism. A lot of creators are dialing back a bit on the consumerism and going towards more let's make it work for less approach.

To judge an item's value, I always go back to the good old cost-per-wear theory. A £3,000 handbag you use every day for years and years is better value for money than a £30 handbag you leave hanging on a hook because it's never quite right. Equally, a £3,000 handbag you rarely use because you're worried you will spoil it is absolutely dreadful value for money. I've been enthralled for the past 3 years by a woman who gets on the same bus as me every morning. She has a simple, medium-sized shoulder bag from The Bridge and it's her consistent companion. It looked worn-in when I first noticed it, and looks the same 3 years later. That bag was great value for money, and I envy her for finding her perfect companion.

One thing you can't dismiss is that high-end quality goods will last decades with care and can often become heirloom items you can pass down. With cheaper goods, they will break down much sooner and you will often have to replace them, detracting from their value to the point you might actually have saved money on high-end goods in the long run. I recently got a few quality leather bags from Maxwell-Scott, which came in handy this year and have made my excessive work travel much more enjoyable. These items are practical, handsome, and timeless looking that will look even better with heavy wear and natural patina that comes with age.

I really liked this. My sweet spot would be $200-500. I just can’t justify luxury, except maybe a grail fountain pen. The lower end is in my budget. I loved the Superior Labor bag and TWSBI pens are fantastic! I prefer the Diamond 580.

I have just recently fallen in love with Benu pens. I am hoping to get the Pink Champagne, the Sakura Cherry Blossoms, and the Steamboat Master pen.

I think your wall paper idea for the bookshelf is a great idea. I'm very excited to see the chronicles from your Boston adventures. My sister went to college and Boston and lived there in the North End and it was such a fabulous place to visit. I was telling her that we should do a long weekend in Boston with our kids and go to eat at all our favorite restaurants and see the city. I think our teenage and pre-teen kids would love it as it's a great city to walk and take the T. I have a white elephant holiday party at work coming up with guys and girls. I chose a King of the Night when I visited the Fountain Pen Hospital in New York earlier this month, it's my first Esterbrook and I'm very happy with it - it looks terrific and writes so smoothly. I also picked up a MB149 from the Montblanc boutique on Madison Avenue, so it was a great visit to NYC for me. I could have bought them in London, but I like doing as you do, and getting them when visiting the US has given them additional significance to me.

My King of the Night pen arrived from Atlas yesterday and it is even more stunning in person. It took me awhile to decide to whether to buy it due to the price, and I'm glad I finally did.

I finally purchased the Esterbrook King of Night pen! It was on my radar as soon as the stationers slipped it into their coming soon webpages. But I was kinda scared off from the price. I did get to see it in person and then it wouldn’t leave my mind, it was so beautiful. I purchased from Appelboom as it was the lowest price I found! That grey Aurora was also in my shopping cart but ultimately I passed for now. It is lovely and I’m glad you like it!! Thanks for the video!

You would have loved the original nock cases, they had some simple dark blue and grays. They originated the Sinclair. I’m collecting the whole line! I still have a few cases left that I missed out on when they were being produced.

If you do move to near newberry st Youll have to go see Pier Gustafson hes just across the river and hes an Excellent person to buy Vintage fountain pens from for reasonable price too :)

I highly recommend the Walmart Pen and Gear Heavyweight notebooks they are a4 their 100 pages and their $1.97 and their super fountain pen friendly I cant recommend them enough :)
