After SHTF, ammo, all kinds, WILL run out! Even home reloaders will run out of brass, and cordite, to make reloads. I like to suggest to people to consider pole arms. Staffs, spears, long-hafted axes, etc. As long as there are trees to be found, there are poles to be made into weapons. Simple to make, fairly easy to use, and if the pole breaks, go to the trees and get a new pole. You can laugh, but when the ammo runs out, and the goons are running around with machetes and swords, that dagger, or axe head, affixed to a long pole is gonna be your best friend. You can even sharpen, and fire-harden, the end of a green-wood sapling, to make a very effective fighting spear.
