DJI FPV Kit - bit.ly/Supremac...
While I'm waiting for my pre-built FPV quad to arrive, I'm still using Liftoff to practice better control, stability and precision near obstacles and objects. After roughly 30 hours on the sim, I'm getting better - slowly but surely. If you go back to watching my first episode of this series called "Learning FPV" you'll definitely see the improvement. I highly encourage you to check out this simulator if you want to learn how to fly before you get a real FPV quad, check it out on Steam (also before you ask this is not sponsored, i just like the software). Can't wait to share more FPV videos soon. Stay tuned!

Dude your first few flights will be so funny, but you will get use to it. The simulator helps enough, but does not match actual flight time. I suggest you fly in a nice field somewhere with nobody around. Bring plenty of props and your tools to swap them out. After that first few times, you will be on your way. I cannot wait to see what you create.

The tune is important, but the RATES is where it counts. You will find the right curves for your type of flying. Its all about the curves.

@Nils Bourgonje I think you are saying something along the lines of: "I can see from your name that u r Netherlands and I also have one fpv race drone and landings is still hard for me"? What does "lukt" mean? Sorry I am actually Afrikaans but lets see if you understand me: 'n laer kamera hoek maak dit makliker om the land. One of the best things of youtube is finding people that create high quality content about things they are not professional. I'm also in the first months of learning FPV, and videos like yours are, quite often, more informative and thrilling than videos created by FPV pros. There's also a strong storytelling component of challenges, riddles, frustration, overcoming riddles and frustrations, evolution.

Thank you so much for this :) that was the main goal of making this small series of videos, because it's definitely intimidating to see only videos by pro's who have been doing this for years. I'm glad more people are finding these videos and are interested in them. Good luck with your journey too, Santiago!

You'll do great. I switched from flying LOS to FPV after 22 hours on the DRL Simulator. I remember the anticipation of waiting to get my first real FPV session also. I did it with old Eachine box goggles and analog video, but recently got the DJI system.. whole world of difference. I'll get some vids up soon also.

Exciting hobby! I have built 5 fpv drones and my DJI Mavic’s (zoom & pro) are collecting dust. Practicing on simulator is a big help. There’s couple flight modes. Stabilized, Air mode & Horizon. I practiced in the wrong mode (stabilized) but once you get used of Air mode and strapping a GoPro on your Quad, it really is Fun! Expensive hobby but nothing as close to flying like a bird.

going down that road now, from complete beginner with basic experience with line-of-sight micro cp heli. My biggest issue is drifting. I'll make a turn in a relatively tight area and it keeps sliding to the outside direction of the turn in forward flight. Rolling the other direction after the fact feels odd, and doesn't even always seem to work.

Right on my fpv brother. I started off flying Los and really enjoying building. It's like a puzzle at first. I bought a eGPU to play this highly graphic intensive game to learn the fpv side. Good time being it's winter and really cold here in northeast Ohio. I love it. The game is incredible and learning FPV is so gratifying. Can't wait to go out there and fly the real deal. Hope your still going strong in the hobby. There's nothing like it

Hi, buddy. Is there a way to use computer mouse to control the JR module? I m studying on a keyboard mouse method to fly FPV drone. The keyboard is very special designed by me with range. I test it on liftoff. With 0 experience and only 25 hours practice I break in world 23 on a track. So I really wanna apply this range keyboard + mouse method on real Drone. I just need the mouse output to the JR module now.

This motivates me to put more hours into Liftoff before I purchase the FPV. Would you say that if you are doing fairly well in Liftoff, you're better off buying a 5' drone instead of a Cinewhoop? I feel like if I pull the trigger on a Cinewhoop, I'll regret it within a couple months when I am ready to upgrade.

What i recommend is to do an hour of free flight to learn the controls then play the race mode. Will greatly accelerate your learning and will force you to learn precision control. At first I thought it would be impossible to make certain turns on some of the tracks but after 10 hours of practice, I'm racing some of the tracks on 45° tilt.

GREAT VIDEO. I'm in a very similar situation. I just got the the DJI goggles, controller and an air unit. I now have 18 hours on Liftoff. I got the DJI digital FPV setup with the idea that I'll practice on a simulator during these winter months (in MN) and research and build a drone.... and then go live in the spring. You make so many great points in your video. One I have to work on: flying slower. What you mention about "getting in the groove" is so true. When I get warmed up, I eventually get about 10-20 minutes of flying that is "in the zone" and feels like I have the basic concepts down. The rest of the time (at least when I'm trying to fly a track, rather than just total improv freestyle) it looks like I'm flying drunk... extreme over-corrections, exaggerated moves, lots of crashes and bumps with the ground, etc... BUT... I can see my skills improving. When I first started on Liftoff I couldn't fly through a single gate. Your video is inspiring and encouraging.

what angle did you start off at? i want to make sure i'm at an appropriate angle for freestyle. i'm an hour in and while i can fly and basically maneuver around i cant stay lower and i find it difficult to go through more than one obstacle. DJI FPV system has caught quite a few people flying filming drones into FPV- NICE. It would be nice to mention that there much cheaper options for FPV than DJI system. Good luck in FPV hobby. Try to learn fly line of sight too (hover, cruise, do simple flips and rolls), and search for your rates (to find what stick movements/control feels most natural). This thing is really important to be better pilot.

Good to practice in the sim. Sim is a different animal for a real flight. What will help you so much is practice...in the sim you are not having many parameters and flight characteristics of the quad... every quad and environment is diferent every time you fly. At my time of learning, you'll grow. I learned the hard way. Losing like 4 drones and destroying like 3. No sim at that time. You'll do very good.. you will get very nervous..... fly slow..... later you will have a lot of fun man. This hobby is growing and tech is advancing...Sheers!. P.d. learn precision landing. Hover. Get to know your area. Consider this also dangerous for people or properties....fly safe. Have a gps too.

Keep at it. Looking good. Fpv is the greatest relief in the world. Welcome to the addiction. Keep that smooth throttle when flying in real life and dont panic. Corrections to avoid crashing is a skill in itself that will help you and you're wallet. Good luck

It is nice to see dji bringing people into the hobby even though im not a fan of them. Learn how to build it is so much more rewarding good job man i will tell you.the real.thing is.much differant.than the sim i think it easier

Flying training sessions in Liftoff is like driving a 25 ton truck on ice - it's so heavy. Master those tight/advanced turns seems impossible!

cool! Liftoff is essential for cinematic FPV skills! I have 378 hours of play time on that... damn i need to fly more real drones :P

You do realize that you're starting to enter a black hole that has no end. Lol! It will be interesting to see how the simulator versus the real life flight will go. It's an interesting idea for a video. I like it :)

It helps to do the simulator, but you’ll find that flying a real world quad is different. I find that flying a real quad is easier. Good luck I hope it goes easy for you my brother!

I have USB cables that would do a good job of charging a device but would not transfer files. I found this out when I purchased the Apple iPad Mini-4. The cables said it would charge the iPad but not let you download files. Others said they would only transfer one way ! That's like buying a car and not having a reverse. Who in the world would buy something like that. What were they thinking or not thinking. I purchased a couple of cable and found out they would charge only ! I took them back and got my money back. In the Android world I have always been able to charge a device AND send files both way. That's why I love Android!
