Wow. Your video making and story telling skills have much improved since you made this back in 08/2022. Large cheer for Laurens.

This is the only color I've seen you grind down the stone for, and make the binder too; it's really just so cool watching the process. This color is beautiful and probably quite out of my range as a novice! Thank you for sharing these videos, and all the little techniques you share as well! Here and on reddit, I really enjoy your content 🙏🏻

Outstanding work! Hats off to you, my dear; as a viewer, this is simply marvelous to watch. You have produced such an observant and thoughtful video, with the sound effects of grinding and bashing of the brass mortars, documenting your method closely, and showing us this technique for creating such a colorful manifestation as lapis. Wherever did you learn this method? There is an excellent teacher in the UK named Dr. David Cranswick who offers a week-long ‘lapis lazuli’ workshop, and I am grateful to have found him. One day, I hope to experience in person the process and sight of lapis coming into being.

Thank you so so much!!! It means the world to me! I’ve seen his work, it looks really good! I’ve taught myself with the help of the original (translated) Cennini book and some research 😊

I want to make this, you have the only good video for high quality handmade lapis lazuli I've seen! Will you ever do a more detailed guide? If you're interested I'd love to know your process in more detail and write it down.

Did you extracted it in the potash with your bare hands? I am studying the recipe and some people recomend at least a 13pH solution... Did you make your own potash or did you use pure potassium hydroxide diluted in water?

This is a great video. I tried that myself, but it didn't work. My pine rosin, beeswax and gum mastic mixture didn't melt in the water bath so I had to put it directly on the hot plate and unfortunately when I added the lapis lazuli powder it turned green. Do you have a tip or an idea what's going wrong?
@dirtyblueshop
@dirtyblueshop Жыл бұрын
Did you use all the right resins? I know synthetic ultramarine can turn greenish yellow when combined with an acid.. otherwise I can’t think of anything. Unless it was Azurite instead of lapis 🧐

Thank you very much for the reply. Something must be wrong with my resins. It would be really helpful if you could tell me which one exactly you are using.

I actually had most of it from old art supplies I bought from a fellow artist. The beeswax was just from a local store
