God... I'm way behind; not likely to catch up soon either. Are particle size and hydrophobic pigments related? It seems to me that the phthaloes are very staining, almost a dye in a way.
@dirtyblueshop3 күн бұрын
That’s a great hunch! It’s even used to dye! And there is a link between those factors, most hydrophobic pigments are the finest ones too!

@@dirtyblueshop No. My Dad passed away Monday night. I moved down to Florida last year to take over for my sister. Dad was 91. He was wearing a Fitbit and we found the screen where it shows his heart rate. It shot up to 202 beats per minute. And then no heart rate at all. 911 had me doing chest compressions till the paramedics arrived. It was not like CPR in the movies. Boy, life is getting weirder and weirder. Last week I had to explain to my Dad that he needs to get a new doctor because his old one shot his wife and is under arrest. And now this! Jeeze.

True, but it’s also not a green version of PB29, not like we know as Ultramarine Blue (green shade). Definitely a different green/blue
@edzejandehaan926510 күн бұрын
@dirtyblueshop And I agree again, definitely a very different shade than pb29. Do you know something about its lightfastnes, is it as good as pb29?
@olddays-tw9xe12 күн бұрын
Ok Im just gonna ask here since I am watching, but I noticed my ultramarine pan isn't dry, well, it's not flowing level of wet but it's tacky (?) to touch. I wonder if that's me simply being impatient thinking it should be dry quicker than it is, or actually too much binder? Also in case it is the latter, can I add more pigment to the paint before pouring it as next layer of the pan (it's in tube meanwhile)? Again it's possible it's just drying slow because it's colder but I can't decide!😂
@dirtyblueshop10 күн бұрын
Could be both, what helps is to just let a drop of your pure binder dry, or try to dry it. For me, there’s the smallest tack to it when it ’solidifies’. You can always remull your paint, make sure you treat it as if it’s a new batch though!
@olddays-tw9xe5 күн бұрын
Could the Ox gal be the reason? I never used it before so I don't know (I mean only have it with the Schmincke binder but I wonder if that could be a cause of slower drying time). I do hope the pans will dry because one of them actually spilled and made a mess so I can't take them in palette yet. I just don't know when much is too much (time to dry)..

I asked it during the stream, but it got lost, so I will write here, what filters, if any, do you use when working with pigments that require a respirator or dust mask? My dad asked what type was required, and I had no clue if there were any specific requirements when picking a model /type of mask for sufficient safety? Thanks again for all the help!

My question. I had a shure MV7 microphone, but I was annoyed that when it was connected via USB to the omputer it had a weak gain. I had to plug it into an audio interface to get it to start sounding good. My question is. Does a usb podmic usb connected to a computer via USB have more gain? Does it have a better preamp and gain in it? Does it have good listening on headphones? Is it not too quiet?
@dirtyblueshop20 күн бұрын
Although I don’t have a Shure to compare it with, I have do dial the gain down in Rode Connect for it not to clip during my live streams. The direct monitoring via headphones works great and there’s a volume button for that on the mic that I never had to dial all the way up, not even half I think.. hope that answers your questions!
@mojkanayt775820 күн бұрын
@@dirtyblueshop That is, it works well with this myricophone with the Rode Connect or Rode Central app, I don't know what you are using at the moment, but I mean an app in which you can improve the tone of your voice or adjust it to your needs. There is no lag if you use it? Second question, do you have a comparison with the Yeti X?
@dirtyblueshop20 күн бұрын
@mojkanayt7758 no comparison at all, but I can tell you it has no lag and the software is great! You can use it with all their apps and even on your phone as a usb mic (and change settings too with their mobile app). I’m suing Rode Connect on my MacBook, and two other mics of theirs. I can use them all at once without any reverb, if you would ever need that.
@mojkanayt775820 күн бұрын
@@dirtyblueshop I had a Shure MV7 and it was quiet, as if the preamp it has in it was of average quality. It was just quiet, I had to connect it to an audio intrface to make it sound satisfactory. That's why I'm asking you what you think of this “podmic” microphone, because I had a bad experience with the Shure MV7

A side note. On the video info, you wrote "For my paints, that have all the pigment info, check ..." and a link. First, the link gets blocked so it'd be nice if you could post the Etsy address directly instead. And second (and most important), because you set the Etsy shop as "on hold" since 17-april-2024, we can't "check" anything you sell as it does NOT show any products from you.

How is this a return of pigment blue 33? And by the way I used it quite a bit when I first started painting. It is a very beautiful blue, but it is very well replaced by modern pigments. And understand that I am not at all easily satisfied by replacements.
@dirtyblueshop22 күн бұрын
It really depends on the medium in my experience. In watercolors, the granulation with the vibrancy of the cyan like blue, is unique.
@BryanJRiolo-q5h22 күн бұрын
@dirtyblueshop I cannot argue with that. My main uses of it back in the day was with oil paints and acrylics. I have heard that one of the phthalo blue replacements for that particular shade of manganese blue is capable of granulation, but I cannot vouch for that right now and you probably know about it anyway. For myself personally, this is just personal taste, usually when I want granulation I want it in deeper colors. I'm glad you were able to get a pigment specimen of that blue. 👍

To answer why I used the ''dramatic comeback'' reference with this pigment, I have found quite a bit of it to be able to put it in my regular line of paint.

I do feel it made quite a comeback.. I remember seeing only one or two selling on Etsy offering it (but it was often sold out quick) a year or two, now I feel like it's almost common (well at least for a discontinued pigment level). I wonder where everyone acquire their pigment but it is good that it's not gone for good! I think it would be interesting to compare different PB33 and see if there is different behavior depending on binder.. I'd also buy yours for my collection :^) P.S. also love that you didn't put a music with this one, I find the natural sound quite relaxing and I appreciate the process as it!
