In 2020 I animated a voicemail from my Dad and it was so much fun to make that I wanted to continue make more voicemail animations. Well… 2 years later and I finally have another one 🤣 - When my friend sent me this voicemail from his Dad, we knew it had the potential for greatness 🥜.
If you're interested in submitting a voicemail for me to potentially animate, please fill out the following form (a gmail account is necessary):

My guess is he was actually like "I don't want to choke and sputter through the whole message, plus I assume that Dean can infer that I called for a reason and will know to call back." But I do like the choking amnesia head-canon.

I'm so in love with the tiny details of the cogs turning. Hearing the voice mail start and 'oh god' hurrying the peanut down to turn to it. Edit: I know the animator is an industry professional, my bad for not realising. But there's plenty of professionals that don't put so much effort into basically shitposts, and my point stands. This is still very impressive. Okay, okay, 1. The blending of what I assume is real footage of a street, and the objects on the table with the animated pidgeon is phenomenally good, reminds me a bit of The Amazing World Of Gumball's blend of animated 3D characters in real-world settings, although here it somehow looks even more polished. 2. The little 2D flourishes of tapping the phone, choking on the peanut for a bit, plus a similar cartoony feel to the eyes and eyebrows are really appreciated. It looks really cute, and add a lot more expressiveness to the movements. 3. The tiiiiiniest bits of body language! Like, the little glance, the small uncertain wing movements here and there, it is all so good, and brings so much personality- 4. Just realised - from the reflection with the people moving - that this is definitely not just one image, but an actual video, meaning the character was also meticulously placed frame-by-frame to look as if he really exists in this environment, instead of just awkwardly floating on top. People on the Internet really wake up and decide to make and then share baller stuff like this, huh.

I had placed a call and got their voicemail…right as the message ended the loudest clap of thunder I’d ever heard in my entire life boomed out… And, like the moron I’ve come to learn that I am…I screamed, and then realized that I was being recorded. In a panic, I hung up while cackling like a lunatic. I got a call back later that day. When I picked up the phone…all I heard was uncontrollable laughter. They’d been listening to my “message” for quite some time and had played it for anyone who was willing to listen to this message that started with an odd booming noise, followed by a squeal that rivaled that of any given scream queen actress, and ended with a panic stricken giggle… The animation for this voicemail is just so spot on!

I just put this in the playlist of animations I like anyone can look at. I'll definitely randomly come back to this when I find it again in that playlist.

I saw this on Instagram a while back and I have to say, I must’ve watched it at least 15 times in a row because it’s perfectly animated 🤣❤️

I watched this five times in a row and it’s just so good! The little details like when dialling and the pigeonish movements and at the end the confused look when he says he just had a peanut. I cant stop giggling. I have to watch it again.

This is so well animated that it could be mistaken for a scene in The Amazing World of Gumball.

The dark twist is that he's allergic to peanuts. That was the last time he would ever here his dad's voice.

The laughing voice that came out of me after watching this 19 second masterpiece was truely terrifying. It sounded something like “hAhAhAhAhAaaaHaAaAa”. Really, I am sure I have never produced such a sound before. Anyway, such a fun animation! I love it! Also your dad sounds so sweet Lmao!

Great job on the pigeon's facial expressions! Especially that slightly vacant, clueless look at the beginning. I hope your friend called his dad back, to check everything was OK.

i really love the inbetween frames, pausing at the right time reveals stretched eyes and other wonky stuff normally we don't notice. one thing I miss tho is the reflection of pigeon on the phone screen

Once got a voicemail from my dad that went "Oh, wait, I didn't want to call you. Siri, delete this message." then hung up. He was calling me on an old house phone but assumed the magic of technology meant Siri was in every phone XD
