This is such a beautiful part of the film. When Soul and Girl's eyes meet for the first time it's so uncertain, and then all the little glances at each other through the song, and Soul's reaction to it all are just gorgeous. With Soul, you perfectly portrayed how so many of us have different versions of ourselves all residing within one body that we WISH we could split off and have separated. And how when you're performing your art, how you wish you could separate the performer from the appreciator and have a version of yourself that doesn't want or need to be center stage but off to the side and really take in the moment in all of its aspects without being the performer and being so caught up in a thousand trains of thought at once thinking about how you look, how you sound, how you are being perceived vs. The other who can give you that reassurance that - none of that matters. That what matters is how you FEEL in that moment. Being PRESENT in that moment and ENJOYING the moment.

First time I binged the whole movie when it was released, this song was already in the top of the most emotional ones for me. Not just the lyrics, but the ensemble singing, Malinda leading, the audience with possibly the most positive vibe I've ever seen, and the gentle spirit behind, smiling with tears in the eyes... A long time from release, I still continue watching the whole movie every once in a while, and tears roll by many on many occasions, especially this one. At some point, I feel exactly like the spirit girl: admiring the most amazing thing human is capable of, music, and crying for the beauty the ensemble creates in a few minutes of time. It's never enough.

I almost cry while having dinner, I love this so much, I like how the white dress Malinda (I felt like she was maybe the young you) has that moment of realization maybe, that she doesn't need to have it all figured all for you (the now Malinda) because many kids feel like they have to grow up so fast, and can't enjoy their childhood.
