Did that fellow lawn care person flip you off over jealousy or hate for electric business? Never understood the hate for someone who's trying to do good, be successful and teach and show a better process than some 100+ old method. Amazing journey man, keep it up

guessing hate over EV, I considered a F150 lightning because I don't drive far. During the test drive one fragile man kept beside us shouting shit and rolling coal. He eventually tried to run us off the road, the salesman who was in the car pulled out a gun for the worst 20 minutes i've had in a long time as both people were threatening each other with me in the middle. The cops arrested the other guy and apparently the dealership knew the tow company and it keeps escalating.

The EV hate is ridiculous. I'm okay with people not liking or agreeing with something, but people have been brainwashed to feel actual hatred towards EVs and EV owners. It's really weird.

My 14yr old son and 12 yr old daughter have an EGO lawn care business in our neighborhood. Between the two of them they have 35 weekly accounts for the last 2 years. I built them an aluminum trailer to pull behind their mountain bike and they are totally self sufficient. They are wrapping up their second full season of mowing here in Texas and the EGO equipment has held up great.

You may want to invest into have a special fire extinguisher on had and a type of sand used for electrical/battery fire. If your lithium ion batteries ever catch on fire, that small fire extinguisher wont do anything, even water wont help. An it would be best to keep that in the model Y so u can access it in case the flames are in the trailer.

hi 😅, I was inspired by your KZbin channel, no sooner said than done, I have a secondary job in green maintenance😮 ,and I bought the multi-tool v2, with trimmer-edging tool & hedge trimmer 160cm, 2x4amp battery. wow 😱🤯 enough working time and no vibrations. installed a 350watt 🌞 panel and 1000watt inverter in combination with 2x 200ah AGM batteries. now working hard to purchase a trailer. bye bye , love your video's . greetings from Belgium 👋🏻

Keep it up! As an engineer I love watching people come up with creative approaches to common activities. I do have one question though, can your gear be or is it already protected from surge (lightning) if your trailer gets hit while loaded?
@solarpunksteve
@solarpunksteve 8 ай бұрын
Thanks! Honestly I’m not sure there’s much I could do to protect it as there’s no grounding rod into the earth, but it *is* basically a faraday cage, just like the car. Not saying it would survive a strike though. I’ve seen boats with all the protection systems money can buy get hit by lightning and it still fries all the electrical equipment inside.

Keep up the faith in what your doing. I started gardening this year march 23 in the uk. All battery no ride on, using a 6x4 camping trailer, put a tow bar on my car and an inverter In the glove box incase It was needed. Only ever had to plug in to a customers power once in 6 months on a clear up job, with no parking nearby Going to raise the hardtop on the trailer with hardwood ply to give me an extra 18"-24" and add solar and battery into the trailer. Think I'll only need to go with an ecoflow style system. Love the videos and the journey. It ain't stupid if it works. 👍

🥰😱👏🏼. The insane part that this should be the least thing we must do. Some people might argue about the Tesla and Solar price, ok I get it but man, even a string trimmer you can see ton of people still using gas ones. Even just the mower, the leaf blower, the string trimmer, etc you can start with something because by doing it you are telling the companies that is past the time that we need better technology and mainly better solutions for our environment. Just with that you are doing something about it. Thanks for sharing this beautiful thing, man!!

Relly nice video, Steve. Enjoyed your explanation of what you are trying to do and why you bought what you did. I can fully understand the choice to start with items you can source easily and get parts for ... and are more affordable at the big-box-store than what they sell at the pro shops. As for the trailer, while having a ramp door seems convenient for loading your riding mower, it is not nearly as convenient when it comes to loading from a cart or forklift like you did @ 12:07. As long as the ramp is removable, I prefer your setup to the ramp door.

Very interesting, solid reasoning, good ideas and mentality, and offering something that's still pretty rare, especially in the US. I think you're gonna be pretty successful, at the very least in the beginning when most companies don't offer fully electric services yet. Efficiency-wise though, wouldn't it be a good idea to add a more streamlined shape to the front of the trailer? I don't know how much of a difference it'd make, but that flat front is definitely as bad as it can get.

I am slowly converting over to all electric lawn care. All of my yard small tools are now electric, and I plan to soon replace my small mower and and small tiller/cultivator with electric models. However, I will of necessity retain my gas powered large (54 inch cut) zero turn mower and my walk behind tractor for the the time being, as I have not seen any sufficiently capable electric models to replace those two. FYI, my yard is 1.5 acres, and I have a 3000 square foot vegetable garden.

@@charlescourtney4412 yeah, huge yards I think would need gas powered mowers. Anything under 1 acre could be fine with all electric I think!

The best thing about battery and electric lawn care is the quiet, and the high-end clientele hates the loud noise of gas equipment.

Maybe you can get a long magnet and walk and drag along the perimeter of the flower beds near the fall off of the just to catch any nails that might be there post roof install

Yeah I had to magnet the whole yard of one of my client's because there were nails *everywhere*. Some roofing companies do a really good job collecting them after they are done, but evidentially this was not one of those companies.

@@solarpunksteve Just curious, did you see the last tool expo where EGO debuted it's expandable 70+ battery system for commerical use? I could help but think how your setup is a way better value.

@@MurseTech64 Hey sorry for the late reply, no I haven't! Just checking it out now and it looks very interesting, although not really necessary in my case since I don't need to carry a ton of ego batteries with me. I do like the thought of using the same batteries from their residential lines for their commercial lines. That was what kept me away from some of their "commercial" tools since you couldn't really use them with any of the residential batteries you already had and instead had to have a giant heavy backpack thing to go along with it. In my opinion not practical. Anyway thanks for the heads up!
