After multiple test rides, repairs, and upgrades, I am excited to share my completed 2006 Dahon Speed D7 folding bike upgrades. I added a 2x crank (Sugino 52-40), sealed bottom bracket (VP-BC73 68x127.5mm), front derailleur (Shimano Claris FD-2300) with adapter (Litepro), rear derailleur (Shimano 105 RD-1055) with adapter, quick release axle, Shimano RevoShift (SL-RS35) front friction and rear indexed grip shifters, and Ergon GS3 bar ends. The bike rides fantastically and the combination of wider gearing and better ergonomics (bar ends) really helps with acceleration up hills. I still need to cover the existing rim tape with Velox cloth rim tape, but I can't wait to take this for longer tours around DC and elsewhere. It's great to have a hybrid bike that folds and fits in a car trunk.
