my gap year ruined my life

For me it all went downhill after the pandemic hit. Had to move to online learning for 1.5 years all while my family and I moved to back to to Turkey my home country since we were not doing good financially. Ever since I’ve had a “gap year” for 3 years not being able to make any friends because of Covid and haven’t been able to go to uni since my Turkish isn’t the greatest because I grew up in the United States. After being alone and bored for so long with a miserable start to all of this I later learned that it was okay. Not everyone’s life has to be the same and there are always good things that come out of lonely and sad times. I’m happy to say I’ve learned to keep myself happy alone. Of course we all need friends because humans are social being so I’m looking forward to making friends soon when I finally go to uni. Sorry if this sounded very depressing but I hope it helped someone and let them know you guys are not alone and things will get better❤️ thanks for coming to my Ted talk :D

I feel like my gap year ruined everything. My self confidence, my mental health, and while I rebounded in my last year of college last year. I still feel like I’m not all the way there yet. I graduate and can’t find a job bc I didn’t have an internship which I’m doing now for the next 6 months and have to drive 45 minutes away to it. I’m lowkey stressing out about my life bc I don’t know if I’m guaranteed a job afterwards it’s still experience tho I guess. Tho I could have done this during school and had a job by now.

Hey Katie, I loved this video format! I just started a mid-college gap year for mental health reasons, and going into this chunk of time without any real plan, besides that I knew I couldn't keep doing the Other Thing, has been pretty daunting. Although your circumstances were pretty unique due to the pandemic, your old videos have been keeping me sane for the last month

I have 2 years of gap but it has never been a hurdle in my life now I am 26 having a good job friends ..yeah I did suffer loneliness but that too during those gap years

actually i took a gap year by mistake. i was so sad at the beginning and christmas times was okay but now I FKN SPENT MY TIME FOR WHAT?! literally i dont know what i got. i just changed my mindset. i decided to change my major. i decided to study in europe next year. but except that I DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. i feel guilty and idk what ill spend the rest of my gap year so.

you saved yourself tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars doing a degree you didn't end up wanting! if your gap year was a chance for you to realise what you actually want in the future, then it wasn't a waste
