My Garden Stream 07/16/2024

Our schedule: You will see most human activity in the mornings from about 7am until 10am. Throughout the day, be on the lookout for our many pets as well as the ducks, geese and guineas that roam freely across our 16 acre farm. The chickens are fenced off camera as they are too destructive in the garden, but you can hear them and our Bobwhite Quail regularly.

Soil Type: Heavy Clay. Our garden has been mulched with leaves and wood chips for about 10 years, so heavy clay is not a problem in our growing area.
Crops: Mainly squash, cucumbers, okra, and flowers. We always try tomatoes but have late blight in the garden so we grow most of those off camera.
Crew: My mom and I are the main gardeners, but my husband helps prep the garden before planting with his small tractor to haul wood chips as well as occasional heavy lifting. You will see up to 5 different farm hands on occasion, but they rarely work in the garden with us. Lots of family comes to vist my mother as she lives here with us.
