Boogie, my wife had the surgery August of 2016. Her surgery was delayed multiple times. I understand. It is extremely stressful for us. But she stayed determined and tried to stay positive. She is 100 pounds down. She has her life back. Her health is a lot better and she feels a lot better. It’s definitely hard and stressful but there is light at the end of the tunnel. You got this Boogie!

Boogie, don't let things like this bring you down! I know that things are already hard as they are and the fact that it has been delayed doesn't help. Happy Birthday Boogie!!!! I'm a RN and one in an entire family of morbidly obese people, so I totally get where you are coming from ... on both sides. Please don't be too hard on yourself. I know waiting is hard, especially when you have to live with the voice inside your head second guessing yourself. Just remember, the more stressed you are, the less reliable your choices. You made the decision to have this surgery when you were on your "A" game. Don't let this stressed out Boogie talk the A+ Boogie out of your chance to try this. Seeing my mom, almost bound to her chair, I wish she had given it a try. She can't even lie down in a bed anymore because of the pain in her back. Oh, and also don't be hard on yourself about the vacation. I think even four weeks out would not be enough for you to really be able to enjoy it. I have never taken care of a bypass patient, but I have had quite a few bowel resection patients and it is very slow going even when the stomach is still a "normal" size. I will keep you and your family in my prayers!

Boogie, I was a student in a clinic where a lot of overweight people came. From experience I'm pretty sure you have some joint problems right now which makes walking really hard for you. So the best thing you can do is cycle :)! Just buy a sport cycle for at home and you'll really feel good I can promise you that!

First off boogie happy belated birthday. Keep your head up your doing great. I have a friend at work who had the same surgery exact surgery your going for and he said that was the best decision he made. He went from 500lbs to 180lbs..... I myself am deciding if I should go for the surgery I am 325lbs with diabetes, I have my own demons that I struggle with. I try to diet but always end up going right back to junk food. I tell myself on a weekly basis that I have to exercise but always chickening out to due to the extreme pain in my legs. I argue with myself telling myself I don't need the surgery since I was once almost 500lbs and have been able to keep it off when I finally found a job, but my other side tells myself if I don't get the surgery Than more likely in 10 years from now I'll be dead. Stay strong boogie just one day at a time stay positive my brother.

Boogie that sucks balls, I was super worried about delays with my surgery and thankfully it didn't happen but that stress is there. as to the vacation if you are close to three weeks out and not having issues go. in my experience the people around me are super supportive and make eating baby food in essence bearable. also I had issue with chicken for almost a year and almost no issue with beef lol. you can make it through this week. I was ready to back out of surgery the moment they were rolling me down the hallway to the OR. if you feel this is the best decision for you do it. it's important for you. I think you are a wicked cool dude boogie and I want to see you around for a while yet.

Boogey, My mom had the Gastric Bybass surgery and her health is the best it's been in years. She threw away her sleep apnea machine, her Diabetes is the best it's been, she takes an 8th of her insulin now. This is a fantastic opportunity for you and I hope you are able to benefit from this situation. You need to be strong and follow through with the doc's intructions but I think as long as your able to follow instructions, going to the cottage could be a way for you to get away from society and relax and unwind. You are quite away from a surgeon but as long as you follow your doc's directions you should be good, check with them first to see what they recommend .

A week isn't bad, as it is, that is nothing to worry about. And you shouldn't be frustrated or angry, it's for your own benefit. If they went to re-book your surgery, it means you are good to go, so in one week you can bet you'll be on that operating table.

Happy Birthday!! My wife and I both had gastric sleeve and it has changed our lives for the better. We are in better shape and score better on our annual physicals than we have in the past 20 years. Remember do not rush into eating solid food again. Try and walk as much as you can early on. It helps you get in shape and helps keep the blood pumping to stop blood clots. Boogie, I have been a fan of yours for years, I also had the Roux En Y done last year, It is going to be a really rough battle, remember this. YOU CAN DO IT. Always remember the support within, You cannot do this alone whatsoever. I lost 180 pounds within the first year, BUT I did get the bad end of the stick and currently in the hospital for my 4th bowel obstruction. You will overcome anything, Don't worry about us and You worry about healing and getting better. I am excited for your results but remember to always stay strong.
