I'm getting teeth surgery In about 8 weeks, I'm quite nervous but this video has told me there is nothing to worry about ! I'm 14 years

It's not bad. I also watched this video before I even knew I was going to have surgery. I had surgery about 2 months ago and I've been doing well. The anesthesia was awesome. It knocked me out and I slept a little after my second surgery.

i'm 29 & have had 6 brain surgeries over the past few years, and will need them for the rest of my life. i also had an abdominal surgery when i was 6, back in the days before most people knew what the internet was and KZbin was still over a decade away! the ONLY preparation anyone in the medical field gave me for my surgery as a child came on the day of the operation. while i was in Pre-Op, they gave me a coloring book "to pass the time" - in reality, it was a coloring book that walked through what would happen! ironically, i still think EVERY HOSPITAL should offer such a thing even now! it passes the time, provides a welcome distraction, and also prepares you for what's ahead. plus, let's be honest - nothing is quite as scary if it's meant to be colored in. :-P HOWEVER, i would have LOVED to have had a video like this! as much as i think the coloring book is a good idea, i also think things like this video are so very important. things have come a long way in the past two decades!

For anyone scared of general anaesthetic: I just had surgery today, and let me tell you, you have nothing to worry about. 1 minute they are putting the iv in you( which doesn't really hurt as bad as you think it is) and then the next minute you are waking up in recovery. Super simple and I'm kinda embarrassed I got so worked up for not that much. Good luck!

My 9 year old child has had 2 operations and a scan requiring an anaesthetic but was a little young to remember them. I think she actually enjoyed watching this video before she had to go for her third operation and I really think it helped her get over some of the anxiety and she was actually quite interested in which way she would be put to sleep by the time she got to the operating room.

Oh good, because I'm getting an accessory navicular bone removed from my foot! The one thing I'm scared about is when they put you to sleep. Is it scary? And also, do you act weird when you wake up, because if so I will definitely bring my camera xD

It'll be fine, trust me! It isn't scary at all! And I didn't wake up weird, you probably won't either! Don't be scared though, everything shall go to plan and you'll wake up with a smile on your face! Keep positive! Good luck!

When I was five I had my tonsils removed, i just remember that they gave me some anaesthetics (i didn't look so i don't know what color), and about 2-3min. later i felt really sleepy and soon fell asleep , i woke up about 20min. later in my hospital room(it's a short surgery). Theres nothing to be afraid of just stay positive! Great video!

I wish I had this video when I was 10 (1980). I'd already had lots of surgeries before I turned 3 by including the amputation of my leg below the knee just after I turned 3. By age 10 I required more surgeries to correct problems with how I was growing. I had no memories of the surgeries I'd had before and all the noises, smells, lights, and such made me scared. I had no real idea what was going to happen. I had the gas every time, and it was an extremely strange experience. The put the mask on me and the gas did have a strong smell and taste. I heard a bell ringing and the lights started to flash, then without anything happening in between I woke up in the recovery room feeling very thirst.

I had to have an operation on my right index finger as I damaged it by slitting it on something sharp and I had cut through a nerve in my finger and they had to stitch it up and stitch my finger up. But before that they put the cold white stuff into my vein on the back of my hand and then gave me the vanilla smelling gas mask and then 20 - 30 seconds after....I went into blackness all the way through the sleep was black for 30 minutes and yeah guys to me it was blackness I went into
