This is my German mother exactly! She stares at my Christmas Tree looking for the one ornament she gave me in 1998. She has also accused me of only giving her things I'm regifting. When I give her a sweater or scarf, she says "oh, you don't like my usual sweaters?"

My mom is German, l'm 34, my husband and I have both relented and my mother dresses us 😅 It brings her joy, and no more complaints. Holidays are so much easier this way to, because she loves giving practical gifts.

I think that is a loving gesture of you and your husband. I am a German background mother of adult children and I love bringing surprises for everyone. There is so little to 'do' for my grown children.....thanks for telling your story and hopefully others will do the same. loving your parent is not breaking a boundary....it is just beautiful loving.
