Since only 3 movies currently for John Wick how about adding Kingsman trilogy action films which though very different I think are very nicely done. I expected Jen to react just as she did including embracing John Wick's motivation. I also knew when Boston was invited in Holden's motivation and comment at the end toward Boston. I expected both of you to give an 8.5 or 9 rating. So I'm glad I was right on.

That build up to watching the movie was peak trolling, what a legend lol This movie came out of nowhere, but became a little surprise hit, Both Chad Stahleski (John Wick franchise, upcoming Ghost of Tsushima movie), and co-director David Leitch (Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Hobbs and Shaw), and writer Derick Kolstad (Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Nobody) have really become huge forces in Hollywood now. Keanu was COMMITTED to training, there's many videos of him gun training and shooting, but a lot of that's for later movies. He loves doing these movies, and this kicked off a new "Keanusance".

Keanu was a force in this and I don't see any possible way it could have been as good with anyone else.

My absolute favorite line from all three movies is as impactful as it is short: Viggo simply saying"Oh" after finding out why his son was hit at the shop. He's a Russian mafia boss asking about his son being struck and upon saying oh just hangs up. He knows at that moment the type of trouble his son is in. So short but so telling. Love that moment.
@Matej_Sojka
@Matej_Sojka 2 жыл бұрын
The reason why Vigo did not kill John when John lost consciousness after being hit by a car is because he wanted to talk to John. He understood John was furious and why, but they knew each other before and he hoped to talk him down. Of course it did not work, but I think it creates a better character in Vigo, that he would try again after John hang up on his call before.
@dundalis
@dundalis 2 жыл бұрын
Not really, Vigo is supposed to be a very successful underworld criminal. You don’t reach that position without being intelligent and ruthless. Having a soft spot like he did letting John live is how you end up dead which obviously ended up happening. It made his character much more unrealistic, that a supposed super successful criminal would make such a poor decision.
@ChopsProduction
@ChopsProduction 2 жыл бұрын
@@dundalis I see your point, but I also think just because someone is intelligent and ruthless, doesn’t mean they can’t respect someone. Vigo has a lot of respect for John, the whole assassin underworld does. Vigo says that everything he is, everything he owns, the foundation that built his empire, was from the bodies John Wick layed. So he somewhat owes John Wick in that sense. So giving him a second chance and trying to talk to John to solve things seems pretty reasonable. He had nothing to worry about cause he very much had the upper hand in that situation. What he did not anticipate was Marcus’s betrayal. Thats what screwed things up for him.
@acw3126
@acw3126 2 жыл бұрын
No I think it was because Viggo was furious about John burning all of his money and wanted a moment to beat John
@peartree8338
@peartree8338 2 жыл бұрын
So...an old man whose empire was built by John Wick and who he WAS close to wouldn't hesitate? Was a successful underworld criminal. Seeing his organization in action doesn't really prove your point. Like I said, John Wick built that, Vigo was just old and sentimental. Still should have killed him though, they should probably have trimmed that scene down a bit. Maybe they needed it for pacing or something but it really stands out as a stupid scene.

30:40 They didn't put the dog next to John. Instead when they hit the dog it was badly wounded and when they left the house the dog even though hurt badly dragged itself to its master as he was laying unconscious before it died as we can see the blood trail up to where the dog was laying on the floor. That just goes to show how loyal and sweet dogs are and it makes it even more sad.

Glad your fiancee enjoyed the movie. In terms of Keanu's training, there is a KZbin video that went viral a few years back that briefly shows the weapons training he did to prepare (search 'Taran Butler gun training') for the movies. The directors chose Alfie Allen, who played the spoiled brat of a son because of he had a face that you just wanted to punch, even though the actor is said to be a pretty nice guy. It is also said that the movies are patterned around the five stages of grief ( denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance) so I expect this will be a five movie franchise.
@Dave_of_Mordor

i see no denial, bargaining, or acceptance from keanu in this movie (only his enemies). are you sure this was around the 5 stages of grief?
@killgriffin
@killgriffin 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dave_of_Mordor I think more each movie focuses on one of the stages. In JW1, John is in denial that this is who he is, he is only "visiting" his old life, and believes he can just go back to normal afterward, but he can't. JW2 was very much an angry John Wick, pissed off for being forced back into the life he tried to leave behind. JW3 shows John attempting to bargain for a life he doesn't necessarily want, but one in which he can at least continue to remember his wife. There will be 5 movies, so I guess the next 2 are depression and acceptance.

I think the reason why Keanu portrayed a grieving husband so well is because he's been through a lot in his life.When he was 4,his dad left him and then at 23,his friend died of a drug overdose and at 34 he was supposed to have a daughter,but his wife delivered a stillborn.This caused them to separate,but they remained on good terms.But 18 months later,his ex wife died in a car accident.He's been having tragedy left and right.

A gut shot so that he suffers while he watches John approach then just a quick headshot and he moves on. No ceremony, no time wasted. The son doesn't warrent even a second more of his time. He was a mission. Mission achomplished, moving on without another thought for the kid. THAT is how you show your enemy disresepct. Cold, unfeeling, "you don't matter only your death does". The John Wick franchise has become one of my favorites and Keanu has always been one of my favorite actors. There are a few videos showing some of the training that Keanu Reeves did to prepare for this movie. More importantly though, is that it wasn't "Hollywood movie training", training that is meant to teach actors basics in a short period of time, it was the same real life firearms training that you or I would take and then later advance training like what law enforcement officers get. The tactics used by John Wick is all real life firearms tactics and shooting and fighting techniques which allowed them to film many of the action scenes in long takes rather than broken up into smaller cut scenes that are cut together. There are a number of videos that really breakdown the imagery of the movie as well which are amazing. Great reaction! You guys are awesome.

The fact that you said you worked hard on it. Made me watch it. And glad i did. MAN! That was a fun and creative way of doing the sponser. Props man probs to you Holden👏👏 And it is by that fact alone that i give this video a like. I haven't even watched the whole video yet. JUST now seen the sponser thing and was blown away of the way you made it. Plus cause of the subject aaand that you guys use plastic guns are sooo fun and gives it a little humor now and then. I'm actually a stuntman in denmark myself and you just gave me a huge inspiration for a little short movie. So thanks😁🙏 I'll go back now and watch the rest of the video with joy😃🙌can't wait to see Jens face when some of the stuff happens😆🤠💥😜👆👉

Keanu's firearms training for these movies was actually pretty interesting and it totally pays off on the screen. I believe there are a fee videos of the training online you two should check them out.

Gotta get yourself a girl like Jen. Can be as sweet and innocent as: "but Holden! I love puppies! Who doesn't love puppies?!" And as ruthless as: "John wick is killing all these people ruthlessly for killing the puppy. And I'm enjoying every minute of it."

They messed with the wrong retired assassin in this action revenge thriller! I saw this with my parents in 2014, didn't know what it was about then I learned its about an assassin whom lost his wife a year ago tries to have a normal life with a pet dog, but when a couple of thugs kill his dog and steal his car, he is hellbent on getting rid of those that took everything from him.

I preferred John Wick as a stand alone movie, Number 2 borderline just about but number 3 was Fast and the Furious ridiculous! John Wick 1 was such a lightning in a bottle, Loved the mythology aspect less is more, leaving you to speculate and wonder his past etc

As many of you know, Keanu is a very skilled marksman irl. He spent countless hours at gun ranges training for these films as well as taking on Ju Jitsu. I believe these movies do well because they use real combat and real gunfire as well. of coursew with blanks and obvi they aren't braking limbs. But nonetheless, Keanu is very dedicated to entertaining his fans, it speaks volumes about his character amd how far he's willing to go when making the movies as authentic as possible.

It's always great when the underdog film gets the recognition it deserves. Back in 2014 Hollywood was still pretty inundated with an obsession for shaky cam, fast cuts, and lack of realism. John Wick was the breath of fresh air we all needed. It's what happens when you put some of the best action choreographers in the industry together and let them run wild. It's a love letter to great action above anything else. What's impressive is that they found the balance in being stylistic while still maintaining emphasis on realism. Some of the best fight sequences ever put to film - relentless, brutal, satisfying, cathartic. It doesn't try to be 'smart', but focuses on telling a simple story with maximal effort. Also it re-ignited Keanu's career as Hollywood's sweetheart and one of the most respectable action stars still committed to doing his own stunts.

I believe the first 30 minutes is the closest you can get to perfection with such a great payoff with Viggo’s explanation of “that fucking nobody.” I still get chills over that and John’s “I’m thinking I’m back” speech. I sadly have to admit that watching dog lovers watch this is fun because seeing them go from utter sadness to just pure bloodlust shows how they nailed it.
