I apologize for the horrible video quality and constant "auto focus". I did not have the correct camera settings when I filmed this video.

This gave me some good ideas...that foldable chair is great. I need to build a glassing day pack.

Good explanation about the equipment. I never gave the tripod heads much thought, but now I need to make some changes.

once again you tell the truth and very few hunters will listen to you. Instead they will spend money off season because the marketing works. thanks

Another great presentation, thanks for taking the time to do videos like these. Still the only channel on here that I watch every single video. Have a great week!

Probably just as well you didn't mention anything about the Super Clowns who use their riflescope to glass with. When they glass me like that, I'm hoping they have high magnification scopes. So they can see both my birdies. On deer/antelope plains hunts out of a pickup, a regular old metal folding chair is my constant companion. Along with my Meopta Meopro spotter that won Spotting Scope of the Year in one of the major magazines a few years ago. Thanks, Dog!!

Outstanding teaching moment, as always! If you have time, can you recommend a decent Budget Spotting Scope? Many many choices out there, and I feel overwhelmed by all the Marketing hype.

For my woodland deer stalking here in the UK I use Leica 8x42 B binoculars. Great for spotting and identifying deer prior to thinking of raising my rifle.

My glassing setup varies with what I am hunting. I have a set of 10x40 binos I’ve used for years for both deer and elk, but they have been recently been just for whitetail hunting. I’ve bought a set of Leupold BX-5 12x50 for mountain hunting mule deer and elk. I can use them freehand or mount them on my tripod. I very rarely use a spotting scope, perhaps 5% of the time, but have a Sightron spotting scope for when I need it. My tripod is a Siriu carbon fiber with a VA-5 fluid head. Great video @Desert Dog

Here in East Tennessee we don’t really need none that but I enjoyed your video 😊

I got a Green Ring Leupold 15-45 angled on an aluminum tripod, cheap pan head, and QD about 15 years ago. It’s been all over the world with me. As much as I would love to upgrade my spotter I’ve found it more useful to just upgrade my binoculars. As long as my old trusty setup keeps working I’ll probably never change it. Your right on with the angle ones sucking for finding animals. Angled is better for fixed targets or fixed positions. I will say that I really want to upgrade to a phone mount. Recording shots is pretty important and gives us so much information. Best glassing video out there.

For weight and how I hunt, I’m posted up watching a field and just use a 10x32 monocular. It’s lightweight and easy to use. If/when I go to binoculars I’m heavily debating the range finding ones though

People will look at me differently because of my setup. I hunt primarily PNW East and Western Oregon. Here goes. On my chest a pair of Carson 10x42 (clear and no fogging). When anticipated a pair of Nikon 10x22x50mm variables with tripod adaptor on an old lightweight Bushnell tripod (1 lb. Weight literally). The tripod is a top heavy setup, but it works and carries well. Great video!

I carry a small pair of binoculars with me, I'm usually just watching wildlife or looking for small game at relatively short ranges. Small binoculars still beat old eyes with dollar store reading glasses. haha, Really "Eye Opening" good info for those that would benefit from better binoculars or spotting scopes I thought! I only recently learned that binoculars on a Bushnell window mount are actually quite hard to set up and use quickly and you have to be parked just right or they are little to no use at all. Mike.

I would add a hatchet to that pack. I think they are more useful than a knife in an emergency.

Good video. Thank you. Those Baufeng radios up here in BC, Canada are ham radios and we need a ham licence to talk on them, unless of course there is an emergency. Go Trump.
