Lol I forgot ur Gemini was on a time out. Love ur deadpool shirt. I'm still using my Milwaukee heat gun. I cheat with my card based. I go to my print shop to cut my paper. They even cut it for free. U have to use 12 x 12 cutter, Tonic is worth every penny. Mono eraser, is my must. I use glue more than tape. I have the same tape u use. I think I would use the tape more if they were on a tape dispenser. Have a great week

@dianestarr52115 жыл бұрын
Veronica Lake, I’d get the EK Success brand tweezers. I bought a WRMK brand, and they don’t pinch together without you pressing them together. You want the tweezers to always be in a “pinched together” state and not open. That’s the difference and what Koren means by “reversed grip”. Hope that helps. 😉

I have all the same tools except for the bone folder. Great video. Curious, why is your Gemini on time out?
@KorenWiskman6 жыл бұрын
Rosemary, everyone asks me that. I got mad at it and put it in time out. I was trying to cut out a piece of vellum and I got really frustrated, so I put it in time out. I know, it was probably operator error, like many of the reasons I get frustrated. BUT! It has been in time out ever since and well, I don't miss it. It's loud, so... I should probably use it or find a new home for it. I thought maybe I will pull it back out after we had time apart. I've always lived by the notion, if you were meant to be together, you will be. I think I should just dump my Gemini. It's a sad idea, but I really don't miss it. What do you think?

AGREED! I have been making a LOT of cards lately too. Lots of Stampin Up products tho. Just got a magnetic plate for my Cuttlebug cuz I'm die cutting so much and sick of tapin everything... I LOVE it. Tried the Purple Tape before I broke down and got the magnetic plate. I was having NO luck with the purple tape??? Anyone else have it tear your paper just as much as the Blue Tape? I was very disappointed with my Purple Tape 😥😥
@KorenWiskman6 жыл бұрын
My purple tape has torn my paper. I don't have the magnetic plate. Should I get it? Does it really hold things still? I just use scotch washi tape, but its 3 bucks a roll and thats all I use it for. It's pretty but, if I could limit its usage, I'd be a happy girl.
@LarriMeadows6 жыл бұрын
Okay, well, 100% honesty... I've been a LITTLE disappointed with magnetic plate. Maybe others can share their experience. Here's the THANG... I have a Cricut Cuttlebug, when I roll through dies, my plates bend/curve. I'm not sure if other machines do this too? So, as my plates warp, I just turn them over and they flatten back out. The bending has zero impact on the quality of my die cuts. However, when the plates become too curved, it can effect the amount of strength the magnetic plate has, because the curved plate creates space between the die and the magnet... get it? Wish I could show a pic, but I think you can visualize what I mean. This is easily resolved by running my plates through and flattening them out in between cuts, but it is an extra step. Anyone else have this experience? Otherwise, I LOVE the magnetic plates!!!!!
@KorenWiskman6 жыл бұрын
I totally understand what you are saying. That is my only beef with die cutting machines in general. It's the nature of the beast I guess. The plates are going to warp. Although, I try to flip and spin my plates so they wear more evenly. And why can't we get a self healing cutting mat for the die cutting machines? Why God, Why? ---- I'm being dramatic, but still...

I just remembered something, did you use the metal plate. For fancy and detailed cuts they say to use it. Look at your manual for the sandwich. Also, Crafters Compainion has a video out on the different levels of pressure and that might help. Hope that one of my ideas works on the Gemini as it cost to much money to be sitting in the "time out".
@KorenWiskman6 жыл бұрын
You are right, I should either use it or sell it to someone who will. I bought mine on HSN... none the less, it was still expensive. I always used the metal shim. Maybe I broke it, lol. I can be a little rough on my machines. Thanks for thinking of me.

I would call cc at 800-399-5035, and tell them your problems. They had me return mine at their expense and sent me a new one. Worth the call to see if they can help because you will never get all you money back. And beside a few blimps it's s decent machine. Good luck

Thank you for sharing that! I bought the tonic stamping machine but I don’t have good luck with it. It could be me because I’m not a very experienced stamper, but it seems like it doesn’t pick up my stamps a hold them very well. Any comments or have you done a video about the stamping platforms? Thank you!
@KorenWiskman6 жыл бұрын
I have not done a video on the Stamp Platforms. I have seen them in action at Creativation. So, I'm not much help. I do know that sometimes I have to "re-stick" my stamps in order to get them to stick to my Misti a bit better. It usually entails a good cleaning of the back side of the stamp.

Great fun and helpful and I agree, love to get the Teflon bone folder. Who makes it?
@KorenWiskman6 жыл бұрын
I don't even know! I really have no idea. I ordered mine from Amazon and I swear it just came in a ridiculously too big box for what its actual size is with absolutely no packaging. It almost just materializes in front of you after you order it, lol. I'm sorry, I'm sure someone knows the answer to this question, it's just not me. I think MFT sells them in their store. They may have more info. I'm going to go check...

From Amazon: Talas is the original fabricator of the Teflon Bone Folder used in bookbinding and other paper related arts. Constructed of the finest grade Teflon and finished by hand, these tools are perfect for scoring, folding and burnishing paper, bookcloth, fabric, plastic films, and other soft materials. If you are familiar with a traditional bone folder made of bone or plastic you need this tool! It is non-stick so glue will not stick to it, so its easy to clean. And the smoothness keeps your artwork in perfect condition.

Koren, What do you use to clean your stamps and what do you wet your go magic cloth with. This is Grandma Sunshine
@KorenWiskman5 жыл бұрын
Hi Grandma Sunshine. I wet my shammy's with water. If water doesn't cut it. I use either a homemade stamp cleaning solution or the Nuvo stamp cleaner. The Nuvo is very oily but does a very good job. You can find homemade stamp cleaning recipes all over the internet, but I got mine from Prairie Paper and Ink or Amy R. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

A great video Koren and very useful for new crafters. I am lucky to have most of the items you mention includig the original MISTI and would not be without it. Last year I purchased a teflon bone folder, not cheap but definitely a good investment, no more shiny folds on card bases. Although I have a large score board for larger projects, I also have a small Scor-pal which I reach for when making up card blanks. Trimmers & cutters have been the bane of my life. I wish I had seen this video before buying a new Tim Holtz/Tonic trimmer. It cuts beautifully but I have to attach an extension arm to measure and cut anything over 6". Your guillotine looks to have a larger flat bed area . Arghhhh. Other must haves for me are tweezers, I have a pair with a fine point and a pair of reverse tweezers. Thank you for sharing your go to items. Judith, UK
@KorenWiskman6 жыл бұрын
Judith, I too looked at the shorter bed trimmer. I went with the larger one because of my 12x12 paper. I had to. I just couldn't live without it. Thank you so much for your input and for watching my video. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Just found you and want to say that I enjoy your videos. I would have to agree with you on your must have tools. I have the Fiskar wire guide trimmer for when I need precise cuts and I too had problems making straight cuts for my card bases until I discovered the Fiskar Procision Rotary Bypass Trimmer. That is my go-to trimmer and it cuts beautifully and straight. I have several pokey tools for different jobs but when my Pergamano Tool broke I immediately went on Amazon and bought another one. I don't use it for piercing but lifting small sticky things off the backing sheets. Can't live without it. DON"T get a small scoring board. I did and I never use it. I'm always reaching for my full sized one. I am leaning toward buying the Mini Misti because sometimes the big one is just too much of a bother. I'm sure the fog card stock is lovely but I prefer white for my bases. Thanks for sharing and for your fun videos.

You are great. You asked for ideas for the smaller score boards. I am blessed to be near MFT's store. If you travel the small score board is perfect for your to go bag. Also if you have a desk in a different area to your main craft area it works for that as well. I am considering the small Misti. I have the TH large stamp platform but want a smaller travel version of a stamp platform for my to go bag and at my other desk....Other desk is for working on planner, etc.
@KorenWiskman6 жыл бұрын
You are sooo lucky to live near the MFT store! I bet that is always a good time. I know Tonic just came out with a smaller version of the stamp platform. I think the smaller version is still larger than the small MISTI. Wow, I hope that makes sense. lol. I love the idea of having a second MISTI for my "work" desk. I have a bunch of cheap acrylic blocks over here for planner stamping and what not. Thanks for the great ideas. Also, thank you for watching my video : )

Loved your “supplies” video. I bought my stamp shammy at Dollar Tree. It comes in a very large size and then cut them up into 4 pieces. They certainly are not nearly such a pretty color, nor as soft when they are dry. Once you wet them though, they are softer. It was a “cheaper option” for me with the financial situation that I’m in. My friend has a lawn fawn shammy and I do agree that they are soft and prettier. 😉. Thanks for sharing Koren!

I really like this type of video as it helps me with product choices. Interestingly, I agree with most of your choices and have them all, but am curious about your Gemini time out. For me this machine is "life changing". I do have the big shot for crops where power might be an issue, but otherwise it is my Gemini Jr.
@Wendyrocler6 жыл бұрын
You have very good taste in supplies! Obviously, I use the same ones except for the Big Shot and the large Score Pal. My Gemini has never let me down. I find if I use the magnetic sheet, I don’t have to use the metal shim. I have both the large and small Martha Stewart score boards and I ditched the big one as soon as I bought the small one. Unfortunately, they are no longer available. As usual, I got such a kick out of watching and listening to you. You brighten my day.

Great video!! I can't live with out the Ken Oliver "Best Ever Craft Mat"!!! It stays put and resists everything. I have the HUGE one and a couple small ones for crafty guests and crafting kids. Koren, these are also the things that I reach for most often! Except for foam tape, and I’m not sure why I don’t use it more often! @kimberlyhanson9656 жыл бұрын
@@KorenWiskman $2.00 per cut, so I try to do an entire reem at one time. Because the cuts add up to cut down to a 5 1/4 x 4" panel. So it's kind of a splurge. They've thrown out the scraps. I've said "Nooo, I want them please". They're perfect for stamping sentiments on.
