Being able to play games from PS2/Gamecube era and earlier is all you really need in life. For anything after, there are usually plenty of modern ways to play those games. Altough, I wouldn't be upset to get one that could handle the PS3/360 era games.

I absolutely agree. Currently, android emulation hasn’t really c aught up to the PS3/360 generation, but I’m sure it will eventually. In the meantime, there are so many incredible games we can go back and play from the ps2 generation and earlier.

@@TheSpareTechRoom do most games come pre loaded in the hand held or does one have to install them all ?
@TheSpareTechRoom7 ай бұрын
@@mikegreen5502 You can purchase this with a preloaded sd card, but it is always better to source your own game roms. They’ll usually run better. 😊

I bought the blue one and love it. Immediately got a new 512gb sd card for all the roms I’m collecting. Also deleted almost all the emulators pre installed and downloaded the updated ones

Was really drooling for the incredible best in class Odin 2 Pro or Max, but both are a bit more than a bit outside what I wanted to spend. Picked up the RG556 pre loaded with over 4400 games for half the price. I figured if the PS2 emulation was bad I'd send it back and get the Odin 2 because PS2 emulation was what I wanted most. But my RG556 isn't going anywhere. I've never played a more comfortable hand held with such a perfect control layout and drop dead gorgeous screen. It's so insanely enjoyable to play. And the PS2 emulation is very good overall, so much so that I picked up that 480 PS2 games SD card from AliExpress and it never leaves the slot. It's a very deep and well rounded library. They run beautifully, with the RG556 flawlessly auto mapping the controls for every game.

I have the blue and have no issues. I do appreciate that you mention that screen issue but it's really not a problem. I wouldn't want to discourage people from getting the blue because they think there's something inherently wrong with the screen.It's literally a 30 second fix. It's just a setting. Setting-Display-Colors and Contrast-Automatic contrast. Done. I'm not sure why the setting is different for that model. Perhaps Anbernic thought it was a neat idea for everything to be blue. The blue one doesn't have a fingerprint issue either. Though the plastic is really smooth. Good video.

One major issue no one talks about and I have been dealing with is that you can't connect the USBC-HDMI to any portable monitor or screen that will try to charge while displaying at the same time. I wound up using screencasting with a chromecast instead. WIth a large TV that doesn't send any power through the USB-C/HDMI connectivity I had no issue as long as the HDMI port was MHL capable.

Have you tried an adapter that supports a PD USB-C charge port and HDMI output. I am receiving the Anbernic RG556 in a couple weeks. I see that Amazon has such an adapter for just under $8.

I just got this for £140. It definitely took some tweaking (deleted all the stock emulators, redownload upgraded versions, mapping all the buttons) and changed the front end. Once that was done.... God send. Its very good

Seeing optimal game setting setup for each of the emulators would be great. I just picked up one of these with the 256GB pre-loaded card for $100. Pretty happy with stock out of the box experience but do plan on updating and following the tutorials to get a better UI and updated emulators. What kind of performance difference is there between stock and custom UI/updated emulators?

That's a great point. I'll see if I can do some videos, going over my emulator settings. Thanks for the recommendation!

Please can you tell me if this handheld game device has google play store and does it run PS3 games?

Best ergonomics, best screen, great battery life, very decent controls… this is my favorite of my dozen of handheld, I could play on it forever!

Absolutely. Honestly, if the sticks were just a bit more responsive…and maybe if we threw a snapdragon 8 gen 2 chip in there, it would be untouchable.

@TheSpareTechRoom6 ай бұрын
Either device is going to be great. It really depends on what is more important to you. The Odin is more powerful, but the rg556 is much cheaper, has a better screen, and is more comfortable to hold.

Yes, man, that's what The Phawx also said. He didn't like the analog sticks because it behaves like a digital stick. He found the dpad great, though. If that is so does that mean the analog stick is not accurate when playing fps game like Black on the PS2? What is your experience with the analog stick when playing fps games?
@TheSpareTechRoom7 ай бұрын
Must...resist...making "what did the Phawx say" joke. lol I actually haven't watched his video on that though. I'll check it out now! :) So, I haven't had a ton of trouble with the sticks, but yes. If you're trying to be super accurate, it can get a bit funky. Not enough to completely ruin your experience, but I wouldn't try to play anything competitively with it.
