God, did not/could not abandon Christ on the cross. It is his humanity, to the extent that it represented our sinful humanity, that was abandoned by God and God the Father poured out the divine wrath of His infinite justice upon Christ. Christ, the Innocent Lamb, took upon Himself the punishment of our sins. Thank you for this excellent explanation of those words Christ uttered on the Cross, which I’ve never understood. We surely could not withstand God’s wrath. Thank you, Jesus. Mother Mary, please give me the grace to love God faithfully always, even when I do not feel His presence. God bless you Father Ring and all the Heralds of the Gospel.
