I have a 66 plate polo GTI and just by putting an air filter on, it has really brought out the turbo whoosh noise that comes with releasing the accelerator. It also gives a little more grunt to the engine / exhaust sound I think. Hasn't affected MPG or fuel comsumption adversely either

Sounds sick bro! You did the right thing with remap and VW warranty, though I'd recommend DTUK tuning box undetectable when removed and say you're GTI was 245hp version you'd be looking at around 320hp and 360nm. ;)

The DSG GTI does that by default by installing a new cat-back you just made it louder lol... If you tune it the burps might go away. I know the APR Stage 2 tune eliminates them for sure.

Don’t spacers throw the speedometer off.. mess with fuel Economy..and a number of other things vw would say void the warranty..here in the u.s dealers are quite strict about mods on cars

LOL no. Spacers literally only act to poke the wheels out a bit (like a few mm). they do not affect wheel speed or economy at all (save adding an insignificant amount of weight to the car). There is no way a dealer would void any warranty from an intake, exhaust, and/ or wheel spacers :)

Correct me if i’m wrong but I thought that changing an intake & exhaust on a modern car such as this won’t give any performance increase unless it’s remapped? I thought sensors / restrictor’s control the air to fuel ratio regardless of aftermarket filters / exhausts?

Richard Donoghue car runs a map sensor so will see more air and up the fuel to match it etc

Nice! Did they mention any potential issues with heat soak with that type of intake rather than a closed one? This engine suffers from serious amounts of heat so summer time could be an issue in town of actually making less power than stock. Sounds well though, need to get some more sound for mine 👍🏼
