Sam... take the caliper off and check the pad and make sure that there's nothing stuck between it and the disc. If it's all clear then put it all back together and away you go. I wouldnt worry about it too much.

I wouldn't worry disc is decent so will deal with that damage no worries.

Don't worry about it, I had the same issue with my car and overtime as the disk became warn it went

Hi Sam, the problem with the finish on your OEM wheels is common with polished finishes on all alloy wheels - the laquer gets damaged from stone chips and then road salt and contaminants corrode the bare polished metal. Not sure if you have a set of winter wheels - if not, best to get a set. R.e. repairing the finishing - you would have to get the lacquer stripped back, surface repolished and then re-lacquered.

diamond cut wheels are a pain ive had 2 sets repaired now, one set on a gti and the ones on my R they are expensive to refurbish and never look as good as the original finish and the white worm always resurfaces within 12 months

Sam….may be a bit late, check your passenger side sun visor. I had the exact same issue, this was an issue that VW did fix under warranty. I put some sticky pads around the mirror, sorted👍

You can take the pad out to check if the stone is still there. If it's not there just use it until the pads reach the score in the disc. Also, the nearside disc is the wrong way around to the offside disc

They are the same part number so its the only way they can go.

Check your seatbelt holder, it rattles in most VWs. Sometimes the height adjustment isn't done right, so shift it up or down.

That's so weird how the wheels are starting to corrode considering its a 2017 model.. My 2016 Scirroco R Cadiz still look brand new. Do you iron remove frequently?

Yes it is a real shame. It has got much worse over the last few years. I do use an Iron Remover so perhaps this has caused the issue. I have been using Dodo Juice Ferrous Dueller Iron Remover Spray

@@SamAustin Oh! Well I’m not a detailed but I frequently use iron remover too but I always add a protective coat afterwards. Recently been using autoglym wheel protector spray for my wheels. Unfortunately these are diamond cut so sanding it and then clear coating it would properly look worse or better, who knows?

Yes I am kind of writing these wheels off now but for a future set ceramic coating before hand is definitely a must from myside 👍

I wouldn't worry too much, I'm ocd with my 7.5 as well. Since you cant hit a grove with your nail, try a proper wash or wait until a rain, see what happens.

Thank you for the suggestion. It's very hard to tell where the rattle is. All I know is it is somewhere on the left hand side so anything from the front passanger door card, reae passanger door card, front and rear seats and headlining. Struggling to work out exactly where it is coming from 🤔

Remove pad, make sure stone has gone, and re-fit. The grove disappear as disc wears

It could be the be a defective brake pad. Discs can be skimmed if there's plenty meat on them which yours are being so new. The garage I use have a resurfacing machine. Not all garages do though.

These cars break the bank and are filled with problems. They're good if you get rid of it after warranty.

I have the same model Golf R which i have just bought. The previous owner seems to have had an 'oxygen sensor delete' (not sure why at all) which is causing the engine to run too rich, fuel consumption is averaging very poorly 16mpg whilst driving normally. Does everyone recommended getting the primary oxygen sensor put back in to solve this issue?
