Best portable tool box tour I seen, organization is great, standard on one side metric on the other is awesome. Everything is labeled! Good job !

I've got a canteliver like your and made it with the same mindset. I ALSO have a smaller Japanese made Toyo metal box for lighter duty household tools with the idea of maximum versatility in the smallest box. Full set of metric stubby wrenches, Astro nano tail of impact sockets, a Wera tool check plus 1/4" set, vessel 30pc bit set, Knipex 250 Cobras & Pliers wrench, knife blade, measuring tape, 3 other pairs of pliers, Hazet bit driver and long reduced shank bits. Dedicated 5mm flat and #2ph Vessel ball grip screwdrivers, mini pry bars, extendable 3/8 ratchet, small ball pein hammer. And a fair few other things including a small 12v impact driver. Great setup. The canteliver holds a lot more serious tools but they get VERY heavy, I get it. Yours is a good setup, you'll refine it a bit as time goes on. 👍

I’ve got a craftsman cantilever box for a grab and go for my farming operation. I have my large sae wrench set in a canvas tool roll to keep the clutter down, that way I can leave it behind if I won’t need it. The tool roll is also good as a working surface in the field to drop tools and fasteners on. I would also say that my box used to be full like yours and I paired it down quite a bit to more essentials and it is easier to get at tools and keep organized. Thanks for the vid!

I have a “Road Box Set” (I have seven top & bottom boxes that are full! LOL) I’ve been wrenching & fabricating since I was a kid fixing my bicycles, mini bikes, motorcycles… I’m still a kid but now I’m 68 years. LOL) I can’t lift it!!! So I’m also putting together a cantilever box. I had basically the same tools in one larger size bag, then separated some of the tools into two smaller bags, however buy the time I’m ready do do something it’s 30 minutes later spreading things out… the cantilever box maybe isn’t perfect, but it’s way better than bags. Except for the weight.

Add a few files and a hacksaw
@Jeff-rk8hqАй бұрын
Great recommendation. They even have little locking handles on Amazon that hold hacksaw blades, Recip blades and jigsaw blades (jab saw ish) and they’re cheap on Amazon. Also they also have those adjustable file holders and those can work holding a blade or file in a pinch and you could have all the forementioned in a Cpl screwdriver slots. Good stuff on the recommendations boys

I've been debating on buying a Trusco/Toyo, Japanese made cantilever box for a while now. I've got one of their regular 17-inch steel boxes, and it's great quality over all the cheaper metal boxes out there. I've been on a little Japanese made tool kick for about the last 6 months or so. I've just been really impressed with their quality for the price point. My old back would definitely need a dolly or a cart for that anymore.

Please dont throw a disc handling that heavy toolbox. Rivet some sidehandles on that box so its ergonomic to pick that thing up and hoist it onto your belt or into a tailgate in one fluid and balanced motion. Its much easier to handle and walk with heavy stuff if you can just squat down and stand up with weight supported on your belt. Or split it into 2 boxes. I'm a machinist so my toolbox looks very different from yours. I certainly don't get paid enough to hump around an 85lb toolbox daily. Apprentices sure don't either. Maybe a modular toolbox setup like the milwaukee packout w/ bottom drawer is a good idea. Or a hand truck that you can wheel around boxes with. Add a half round, rat tail, and three corner file, the only 3 you need Magnetic/clamp on light sources. If you want the affordable option you can attach a pocket flashlight to a magnetic base flex arm indicator holder, which can also hold an indicator if you ever need to use one. Maybe check rounout on a brake rotor or check play in an assembly idk. Cheap digital calipers and thread pitch gage. 2 Lifting straps. If you ever have to move something really heavy alone or with someone slings always make it easier on the back. Or you can use it as rope with some creativity. Maybe strapping toolboxes down to a hand truck. 1/4 hex bits and ratchet. Ratcheting screwdriver or t handle. 1/4 hex tooling can replace all your screwdrivers. Impact screwdriver Too many redundant pliers Replace adjustable wrenches and pipe wrench with knipex stuff. Large Cobra pliers can exert almost as much force as those pipe wrenches at less than half the weight while being useful for many other things. The plier wrenches are hand vises for holding things, press fitting things, bending sheet metal, and normal wrenching. This would shave quite a bit of weight.

I totally understand. This thing called "Life" can be rather consuming...lol Just a thought. I know you're in Canada, if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure you have seen the recent content by a few tool guys on the "CAT" tools available thru their local Caterpillar dealers. Some, not all are actually Snap-On tools. I actually worked as a salesman for the local CAT dealership in the Bay-area (CA) about 20yrs ago. I remember some hand tools being available in the parts department. But I really wasn't aware/interested then as my tool sickness was just beginning...lol Anyway, I'm thinking about purchasing a few socket sets. That I still need to build out my assortments of mm/sae in 1/4" & 3/8". I'm in shock of the difference in price vs. Snap-On. Let me know your thoughts if you're considering this option on some stuff that's Snap-On made.
