I inherited my grandfathers Sears branded version of this shotgun, Ranger 101.12. Thank you for showing the strip so I can give a good clean and inspection before shooting it

The first gun I ever hunted with and shot my first rabbit running in an old bog. Dad borrowed it but sure wish I owned it just for the memory . Not sure of the model but it had tube feed magazine.

These were always cool little shotguns. My dad used one to hunt rabbits. I own the shotgun now but I am not a hunter. I shoot 3 gun comp. So the ole 59a sits in the safe.

I have not done a 3 gun , don’t know how well I would do . It is nice that you have your fathers shotgun , you may have to get the shotgun out & put a few rounds through it , just so it does not feel left out of the fun

G'Day from Australia, I enjoyed seeing your father's shotgun in action. I have my recently deceased father in law's single shot German made .22 rifle that he used to shoot rabbits over 74 years ago. A little piece of family history that I treasure and shoot sometimes. Ignore the mean comment(s). They were childish and petty! Cheers, Steve

Thank you that you enjoyed seeing me shooting the shotgun . It was my grandfathers , then my father acquired them and myself . Most of what I collect are military surplus rifles Yet these have a place because I know my grandfather bought and used them . It is nice to know others appreciate older firearms and that you have a connection to yours . Yes , I realized from the beginning that there would be comments good or bad , and if I can’t handle that I would not make videos . Thanks for watching and your comment , hope all is well with you .

I am old enough to remember Montgomery ward. If those shells come from Montgomery ward they have to be over 30 years old or older. You'll be lucky if they don't blow up in your face. Montgomery Ward has not existed around here in almost 40 years

If they were not from my dad I would not had used them . I know where they came from and how they had been stored . If it had been anything else I would not have used them .As it was I only used what was in the video . As with Wards , Ben Franklin , TG&Y , Ventures , all long gone .

I recently inherited the Savage Springfield model 18f 410 i was wondering what kind of shells you recommend I shoot out of it? It is chambered for both 3 and 2 1/2 with what i believe to be a non removable choke

I have looked into this and asked the questions different ways . There isn’t a lot of info out there . It says the Savage Springfield was the economy line or utility grade for the average person . Do you or any one else knows when he bought the shotgun ? Meaning , at least you would know it was made in that year or earlier . For me not seeing it and based on your question , you can use the specified 2 1/2 or 3 inch shells in it . Now for what load , until you know for sure , my opinion would be using target loads . Besides having the shotgun were any shells given to you , as an indicator of what was being used in it . I wish I could tell you more than this , which possibility is not much help .

@@nicholasshipley5262 what a bummer , & frustrating , knowing someone broke into the house and stole the firearms . I would think it was someone around that knew everyone was gone for an extended amount of time , that he was a police officer & figured there would be firearms in the house . I used vintage ammo for a vintage shotgun & for what I used did not matter a lot since I have quite a bit more of it , if all I had was just the one box I would not have used it , I would have used something else . It is nice that others appreciate the older firearms & ammunition they used .

It could not be a single shot if it's has magazine tube. How many paint chips did you eat as a child.? A single shot means one single shot in a shotgun. I'm willing to bet you sniffed magic markers as a kid either that or you got yourself into some resin
