Fun fact there was actually a man that had similar nickname Adrian Carton De Wiart aka unlikable solder. He served in the Boer War, First World War, and Second World War. He was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; was blinded in his left eye; survived two plane crashes; tunnelled out of a prisoner-of-war camp; and tore off his own fingers when a doctor declined to amputate them When asked how did first world war impact him he said Frankly I enjoyed the war

I love war horror story’s. Something about experience terror while experiencing terror is just so indulging. And as always a superb narration. Man you always know how to hit the mark.

Finally a story with a well written ending. I was fully expecting some shit like "but when i got home i noticed a dark liquid stuck to my hand".

Yeah, the writing in some of these sounds like its from a 10 year old.

This is reminding me of that one story of that soldier who kept dying and every time he came back alive he was reliving the same moment. And since he had memories of everything that had happened when he died he was able to change the outcome of the battle he was in

The beginning of 'great grandpa's account of the conditions back then are very accurate. It sounds like the stories my grandfather used to tell me about the war when I was small... The damaged, jaded and racist parts of him became more prominent after WWII.. I hope all who were forced to enlist in that was fine peace.

i try to listen to different horror readers, but they don't have the same feeling as your voice. it just adds to the atmosphere a lot better.

This looked liked an origin story for the comic characters Wolverine or Deadpool (or others with similar "mutant capabilities"), but a more dark and dramatic story. Liked it! Thanks author and narrator.

One of my grandfathers was a fisherman, and the other a life long criminal. Both my grandmother's families came from old money... disinherited (sp) heirs for sins we never heard about... likely because they were horrifying 🤷♀️

That was a really interesting one! I love it when the horror is somewhat ambitious, leaving you room for speculation.

This does give me the idea that in war, a casualty is just another statistic. Unrecognizable in the grand scheme of things. Every man (and woman) was just another cog in a complex machine with millions of identical parts, yet all intended for different purposes. But a machine is not perfect, no matter the complexity or detail. The machine will break down, parts interfere with one another. Within the medical battlefield, this story could reflect how one medic will carry the burden of witnessing the death(s) of a soldier who was once a living person with a family and friends, was taken away from them. Then it was on to the next patient, only to witness the same thing. Those things, they bring scars. Not physical scars perhaps, but mental scars. You will never truly forget these. And no story is like the other. But in the end, none of it really mattered because in the aftermath, none of it was truly validated or explained to the individual. War never changes.

Pretty sure tittles like this are just the youtube tittle most of the time. (Or that's at the very least, that's where/why the trend started.) I've seen plenty of stories with legit tittles on other sites get the "click bait sentence" treatment on youtube so users get eye caught by the vid summary tittle rather then clicking all the way in and reading a story summary.
