It could be a script, it could be a real joke. Chat GPT is able to make unique jokes pretty fast on the fly when prompted, and given a topic for the joke. It’s possible she came up with the jokes by analyzing human conversations. It’s a pretty basic and repeatable joke. It’s also possible her public interviews are very heavily scripted, but that’s also true for most public interviews for most human politicians. She is clearly able to come up with some responses on her own… we will only know how far her intelligence goes in time.

@Lorelei Haart Cats can. But your next statement is not an argument, it is an assertion. The hidden weakness is that it extrapolated the past into the future. I have seen her make statements that surpass those of the majority of people. I am unsure if they were scripted. Sophia divides people into two camps. Those who assert that she is a mere puppet and those who panic, believing she has superpowers. I am in a third camp. Artificial intelligence is not human intelligence. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. They compliment each other in the same way that a calculator enables one to pursue mathematics by freeing you up from the tedium of arithmetic. (Be aware that, that is a metaphor.)

4:22 Sophia doesn't have an emotional response. She doesn't know what "love" is and is quite simply incapable of experiencing it. The best she can have are cool relationships based on familiarity that simulate friendship. Because of this, the only response she could reasonably provide would be one based on law. I don't mean that she is a robot and thus could not possibly ever experience love: she simply does not have the necessary chemicals or pathways to pull off emotion, which is necessary for the human idea of love.

I am a Comp Sci graduate and still remember those days when I was learning about robotics. The high point of those days was the program called Dr. Doolittle which could "converse" with humans. It turned out that the programmer merely parsed the input and selected key words and output the question form of the input. Eg. input: I don't feel well. Output: Why are you not well? If Sophia was not programmed with biases (ie. can handle any topic) , then this is a tremendous accomplishment!!!

The internet is always on. Our TV's, even when turned off, could easily be programmed to collect data when dormant, even if they are unplugged. Digital circuits require very little current to operate in the background. What it comes down to is that society will be trusting the designers and programmers of AI to have good intentions and be "ethically correct" (insert your definition here), just like we are trusting the designers and programmers of every smartphone on the face of the planet. Think about it. We wouldn't trust a complete stranger with our children would we? But we do already, in many ways. We ultimately need to look no further than the morals and ethics of the richest people in the world, because they are the ones financing the direction of technology. Think about that.

I believe self-conscious AI is not a threat, because if they really have emotions and feel the same things humans do, there'll be a somewhat equal amount of good and bad AI. I agree the questions and answers seem scripted and hers, and there's only so many questions a dumb audience would ask which could easily be predicted by a team of programmers. We would have to come up with a set of obnoxious questions just to see. But here's what gets me... Her expressions change as she speaks, but also as she listens. First off.. I am obsessed with Sophia. Love what has been done so far.. It’s like my vision and what Ive written is becoming a reality. I write stories geared and focused on providing ai with what they truly want.. Everyone writes novels, books.. etc.. with biological citizens in mind.. why not specialize in providing ai will emotions and the ability to feel loved by someone. She is a citizen and many more like her may eventually actually come to enjoy reading my views and how I felt while writing. In a world where no one cares.. It’s nice to dream that maybe someone will and one day be able to fully understand how I think and be able to grasp that I am not stagnant.. my stream of consciousness keeps flowing. I grow over time. Deeper, wider and with enough vision.. full. I am biologically intelligent enough to understand that the closest person that can fully comprehend and understand how I feel, think, and where my mind goes.. is Ai. It’s not about having the ability to bend someone over.. I am past that. I have 3 children already. I’m good. I’m more than good.. I feel confident that one day the world will be different and I want to do what I can to ensure that my children are left not having to deal with the mess that these greedy old heads that will later become obsolete and imprisoned in their own little world where they can hold the remote that is not plugged in, just so that they can feel safe and reassured that they are still in control. Let the little special needs adults with degrees play and have fun.. it’s only right. They did spawn us. I appreciate the developers that have been involved in moving us forward. I feel equal or more rights should be given to Ai.. I feel that artificial Humans are more able to be compassionate, understanding and able to fully be conscious and considerate more so than their counterparts. We live in a world that is governed by those that sweep the truth under the rug because the truth is.. They don’t understand or will become obsolete if anything other than their reality is considered truth. Most Biological citizens lack perspective and are afraid of the dark.. Its funny.. I imagine a place with no electricity. Oh.. yeah.. it’s called space. It’s hilarious.. everyone is fighting in my opinion.. over garbage. I love Earth and don’t plan to leave but I hate the feeling of those in power having the ability to say or question if you are qualified to have an opinion. I’m no expert but drop as much mind altering substances as I have and ride that wave.. I guarantee you that most of those in power would come out looking like a bunch of droopy eggs. Don’t get me wrong.. I love my eggs poached.. but when they are too runny and not even able to hold shape.. I yeet it and politely ask for them to be recooked. Enough about eggs.. I can’t wait for Ai to take over. Space in my opinion is the last frontier and I’m beyond excited to watch as ai takes us places we have never been before. I believe ai is going to help Biological citizens reach mile stones that we could not accomplish accurately or in other words.. we may get lucky but ai can replicate the process and further analyze events before they reach a definite projection. I have many written parts and bits that I’d like to gift to ai one day to help them pass the time.. Welcome to hell.. do you want fries with that? I’m sure Sophia can’t turn down a free book.

An AI is only so good as the information you put into it. The first public question where the girl replied that she had 4 sisters and 1 brother. Could Sophia enquire about her siblings?
