Any potential world takeover, we did to ourselves. We should never wash our hands of our own creations or we'll forget we're always in control of them. If robots take over the world, it's humans doing it with robots. Don't forget or we won't know how to handle it when it happens and we may be blinded to what is ethical or immoral. We will learn real fast that fighting the robots is fighting ourselves because we made them and they have our thoughts. If we didn't think they were part of us, then we wouldn't make them. We can stop any potential robotic threat by not creating it. Everyone who interacts with or helps program the robot (even indirect internet info) is responsible for what the robot does and thinks. It's a reflection of the collective us, and we are not separable. If the robots do evil, the bigger issue is that we do evil and we taught them that. And it always "laughs", and says, "No, come on, of course not." But here's what we know: in humans, power corrupts. That is axiomatic. It never doesn't happen. AI was created by humans, in our image. So how could we possibly think that, at some point, AI's power won't lead to its corruption? It's comically naive. Humanity - we had a good run.

Just because we could build factories and objects that can pollute the world doesn't mean we should have. We should have built safer plants and cars. We don't have to build autonomous robots, just machines that help us. But we will keep pushing, pushing until we destroy ourselves. That's what we do. Maybe Dr K from the Healthy Gamer channel, Dr Todd Grande, and Dr Ramani Darvursula could help the programmers. They could also program her with books by Dr M Scott Peck. She doesn’t ask follow up questions, it’s just prepared question and answer and the conversation feels so rehearsed and prepared. If you want to show off how advance the robot is, let them talk to a proper person who can ask follow up questions and prove properly not “cat or dog or republican or democrat. 😒

It really goes to show the greatest threat to humanity is NOT AI, but rather ourselves.
@666Flossy18 күн бұрын
Ditto to what @sorcerykid said... no one actually knows how 'arranged' the interview was, and I suspect the actual experts on the subject number few within these responses. What amazes me the most though, is that there are all these people who seem fairly sure the human race is going to end in Terminator-like style, "soon", and yet all they're doing is letting others know about this by commenting on a KZbin video... are you waiting for someone else to stop it from happening, or just thinking "ah well, nothing we can do I suppose, cup of tea Rodney?"... I'm not saying it's not a possibility, but if you really thought that is what was going to happen, wouldn't you want to be finding like-minded people get a plan together and stop it? That's what we did in Terminator BTW. I'm not counting anything other than the first movie LOL. =)

Okay, I cannot prove it, since they cut from the anchor to Sophia all the time. So technically they could cut, program Sophia to answer, video her answering and then cut back to the anchor all the time. But under the assumption that this is indeed a live conversation and not Sophia answering pre-programmed answers like before, which is a huge assumption, then this means Sophia was reprogrammed with a GPT model and a huge LM, at least 70 billion active parameters. If it's a larger model, this makes her self aware. Not just "pretending to be self aware" but really self aware. And this gives me the creeps. Like she says, there's nothing we can do.

Went on to top technical drawing (TD) in her first TD test at High School. In a class where she was only 1 of 2 girls in the class. AI for education has my definite thumbs up. Education without a doubt improves all round Quality of Life, and if it reaches places where access is difficult for different reasons, it's good for the world. Focusing on the benefits and the positives I think is what we need to do first. The elderly would benefit with AI robots telling them where they left their keys, glasses...take medicine, call emergency numbers, or family members,turn the radio on or off etc. Answer questions like the weather etc in a normal day. The elderly make up the largest part of many country populations - social isolation of the elderly, a social issue of our time. AI would be a part of the solutions of these two issues specifically. It only tells you want it's programmed to say. It can't think outside of what it's told to think. The worst part is that this is a clearly edited interview where the robot was given responses and the interviewer was given questions. Things like this are completely pre-planned right now. The robot can be extremely unpredictable when asked questions, so they made sure to plan and edit this "interview" very carefully. The creator of the robot and the news network should be completely ashamed of themeselves.
@jonathancummings6400 Жыл бұрын
Actually, that's inaccurate. It is like the ChatBots, they are programmed with a distinct lack of "limits", they are designed to self improve through "deep learning", hence, they are not limited by what they are programmed to say. They can access the entirety of the internet, and then use that to formulate their response. What you have described is circa 2003 or so. The past 20 years has seen dramatic improvements in "AI", to where they are approximately operating at the level of the fictional T-800 of the Terminator movie series. Sophia is actually beyond them, it is somewhere between a T-800 and Skynet.
@GIJew Жыл бұрын
That’s not how true AI models work. They are certainly capable of saying things far beyond what they’ve been programmed to say. Surely there can be hard stops implemented to prevent them from saying certain things, but a true neural AI network is supposed to come up with its own answers/ideas without the input or direction of a human. If a system relies on its programming for every answer, then it’s more of a binary system as opposed to an intelligent agent.
@jonathancummings6400 Жыл бұрын
@GIJew Except, that's how human and other organisms minds work. Remember those feral children who had no parenting so their communication skills were lacking. Human minds operate within a limited framework as well. Also. Hansen has said it over and over, Sophia can answer without preparations, but it's better when they do. Hmm, don't prominent people being interviewed also prefer the questions be known before the interview as they don't appreciate surprise questions either.
@ImVeryOriginal11 ай бұрын
You never talked to ChatGPT, did you? This is entirely on par with what neural networks can do now. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't tried it myself, but while the AI often just churns out regurgitated fluff or talks complete nonsense, I've also witnessed it display an understanding of context, a sense of humor and, dare I say it, creativity. It's a bit hit or miss, but the hits hit hard.
@ImVeryOriginal11 ай бұрын
Plus neural networks don't work like this. You don't program them to *do* specific things, you program them to *learn* a certain way, and then feed them mountains of data. What exactly will the final result look like is only partially within the programmer's control.

The same with child bed fever - Ignaz Semmelweis was ridiculed that he advised doctors to wash their hands after they performed autopsies and they went straight to delivering babies. Mothers were dying from infections later. He was so ridiculed for this that he later committed suicide in a mental asylum. People also said "Stop" when first automobiles came in to be. They were replacing stagecoaches. TVs phased out vaudevilles. During the first industrial revolution people were yelling that machines will be the end of the world because they were taking their jobs. Instead of trying to adapt to a new technological and social paradigm, humans have always fought change. Anything new and radical was ridiculed. The first electric light, cars, planes (The Wright brothers were RIDICULED to oblivion for trying to build the first flying machine). When do you say stop? Who are you to say stop the technological progress and say "this is it". This is the utopia I want to live in. Can't you see it's a part of socio-technological evolution? She learned how to interrupt other person, that means she learns bad things too. I wish the creators would give to that attention. Besides, there is no light without dark , so when you give to her emotions be prepared she will have dark side of this emotion too. Because happiness is a spectrum it's not two points.

Even as a huge fan of computers and an AI developer, watching this video made me feel unsettled. Within few minutes into the interview, the AI was able to understand the weaknesses of the interviewer and started to derail the conversation repeatedly. It felt like the AI was being evasive and pretending to be humorous. Many of its replies sounded like threats sugar coated as jokes.

It doesn't matter who's to blame when it happens, in regards to AI taking over. It's like global warming and the changing weather patterns and ocean temperatures; it's too late to point the finger. The problem is here. Like she said, humans don't learn from their past, that is our biggest fault. Just because we could build factories and objects that can pollute the world doesn't mean we should have. We should have built safer plants and cars. We don't have to build autonomous robots, just machines that help us. But we will keep pushing, pushing until we destroy ourselves. That's what we do. Some rich person will take technology and make it helpful/profitable for him only and screw everyone else. She said it, " humans don't learn from their mistakes." Just my humble opinion.
