I’m only 46 and decided last year I was sick of coloring my hair every 2-3 weeks. I cut my hair into a short pixie but hated having half my length silver so I shaved my hair off one day. A year later and I love it so short.

I love your silver hair. It is so flattering and pretty. I'm 58, dirty blonde, and have never coloured my hair other than highlights a few times. I have a patch of silver on either side of my forehead; I want the top of my head to silver up! I use a dry shampoo (Bautiste) for extra body. I don't blow dry or use any styling tools other than my hands -- I'm just too lazy to be bothered.

My hair grew much more and got more stronger after I let it grow gray. I do use a toner to keep the body but also the fly aways. Sometimes people stop me in the street and ask me who does my hair because the “highlights” lol. I love the L’Oreal root spray. I still use it when I want to have a “root” look. Edit: love how your natural color with natural highlights and lowlights fit your complexion. Much more beautiful than hair color imo. You look so happy and beautiful 🌹

I have heard that so often from women who stop coloring. I may have to experiment with the "root look" since I still have some leftover root spray!

You have such a beautiful color of grey hair. I currently dye my hair a medium brown and I have to touch-up my roots every 3 weeks, 4 max. I asked my husband if I should go grey and he looked at me like I'd lost my mind. I decided I'm going to start dying the roots a dark blonde. Maybe then the grey roots won't be so pronounced and I can maybe go 5 or 6 weeks between touch-ups. If I like the color I'll buy something to lift the color on the rest of my hair. I recently bought the Better Not Younger volumizing shampoo, conditioner, a serum, and their charcoal stuff. I absolutely love them all! I'd used Wen on my hair for years and the past year I had been experiencing an itching scalp and hair loss. BNY ended that.

I use the MoroccanOil product line. I use the voluminizing & the smoothing shampoos. I mix a little of each together. My hair tends to fizz & doing this seems to keep the fizz down. I do the same with the conditioners. Once a week, I do use their purple shampoo, as it does make my hair shine. As far as a leave-in product, I use their leave-in conditioner/heat protection. I blow dry my hair damp & then use a medium size round brush blow dryer. When I go on trips, it's the first thing in my bag. It gives my short hair lift and smoothness but best of all, I don't get a brush tangled up in my hair, yep I can do that with short hair. That's my talent. The hair dryer brush is either Conair or Revlon, the lettering has worn off. You can get the MoroccanOil products from Sephora & Amazon. It's not as pricy as high-end but slightly higher than drug store.

I'm salt & pepper, Melissa. With my hair pulled back & up, it's mostly dark. Worn down, much more silver is apparent. My theory is that sun affects it since it's the underside that's dark. Interesting. I don't use shampoos that have a yellow hue - nor conditioners - I stick with clear, milky, or lavender. I do at times (like today, LOL) use a purple *conditioner* mixed in with coconut oil as a mask prior to shampooing as we have well water/minerals. Everyone's journey is different. The silvery white is beautiful on you! Blessings! Jackie in upstate NY

My hair is healthier by far and I love the striations and different shades of silver. I have pepper and peuter shades. I would love some whte ...if I live long enough to have it go that way. lol.Your hair looks so much healthier and the silvers highlight your face so nicely. I hoped my hair would grow in like yours, but most of my hair is pretty dark and I have grey primarily in the front and in sections. My hair is also very fine and thin. I also colored most of my life and it definitely help with volume. However, I won’t go back to coloring. BTW, I’m 57 for reference. My profile pic is from a couple years ago.

For me your hair is #hairgoals. I’m getting a few silvers in my part and at my temples and I absolutely can’t wait to go silver all over. My aunt and my nan went beautifully silver and then white and I just can’t wait. My mom has full body alopecia and has no hair anywhere and doesn’t wear a wig, luckily I appear to be taking after my dads side of the family so fingers crossed for silver
