Hello Ben😮 I can't believe you did that to the beautiful Eustacia 😅 I appreciate you willingness to show and expand our knowledge to be able to look after our roses so thank you. I have heard that some rose retailers do a "chop" to encourage a fresh and good show of blooms, but I had no idea that a summer prune was a thing, every day's a school day:) I've only started in earnest last year to being so addicted to roses, so mine are all relatively young roses with the exception of a few.

I can’t believe that either, but as I said in the video I can’t show you when I do it and she will be absolutely fine. I’m back in flower in just a couple of weeks time.

I’m in UK 🇬🇧 I think I’m living in another dimension as it’s hot and sunny most of spring . I do have a south facing garden on south coast . Have no black spot mold mildew. Have 40 DA roses . Some have other issues but not the ones above 👆🏽. Generous Gardner is showing white roses . Olivia Austin lime leaves with green veins Might have over fertilised the hedge . 😢 Albrighton rambler went weird and had to major trim it .

Thank you so much BHA, this confirms my instincts. I already did this to one rose bush wondering if I wasn't crazy and was hesitant about doing it to a few more.

@@the_gardenerben Thank you! I've learned so much from you and have bought rose bushes following your reviews. I have found that THE MOST IMPORTANT PART of growing roses is to find the right place, the exact right place for each rose and every single one is different as to what it likes and what it can stand.

Another great video, I have learned so much from watching your videos and you have given me some confidence with growing roses in the garden. I planted a few bare root roses this year but we had such unbelievable hot temperatures they have definitely been struggling. Thanks again for sharing such valuable information on rose gardening.

You’re most welcome with your new roses. Please keep up with the watering water them at the base deeply early in the morning out of the heat of the sun roses should realistically never be watered overnight as this caused lots of disease problems

Hi Ben, thanks for such an enlightening video. I feed my roses with David Austin once a year feed in the spring. Can I still use the Envil feed fortnightly like you have or would that be too much for them. Thanks for all your great advice.

Hi Gardener Ben, thank you for yet another great video. Alot learnt. Can you advise on Crown Gall on roses please. I just discovered it on one of my potted Strawberry Hill which is on one side of an arch. Will I definitely lose this plant? What is the best way to treat (it's a small section at the base of the rose). Please help, I'm gutted 😢 Many thanks Tina

Really helpful video Ben thanks. Any advice for dealing with sawfly bugs - my roses have been hit really badly. I've practically defoliated a Scepter'd Isle and Princess Alexandra of Kent already. I don't really want to spray at this time of year but don't know how else to get rid of them. Any thoughts?

I really like how you support your roses- the wooden stakes, what is the purpose of the pot? Or it’s just there for decoration. I am asking because I would like to steal that idea :-) I really like the look, just not sure what the pot is for I am dealing with a lot of black spot too here in North Carolina us

The particular tutorial you may want to watch it is actually posted to subscriber only based content on Instagram in North Carolina. You may really struggle to re-create this look as I don’t believe that you have Hazel growing and native to you. Personally, I like to keep things relaxed and Plants don’t need a huge amount of support but I give them it anyway just as a sort of belt and britches type of affair here you can see a very basic way between three and four Hazel stick sunning around the pot tied together at the top and then decorated with a small terracotta pot which acts as the perfect location for beneficiary insects to hide in

@@nataliesknowledge7962 if they’ve only been in there since May I should assume the compost and the media you used still has plenty of nutritional value. I wouldn’t waste your money on feeding them this season. There’s lots of guides here on KZbin for you to watch about top dressing and replenishing the soil and then I would start liquid feeding next year.
