Ive just received 3 Hyde Hall bare root roses I've now planted. They have short but very dense prolific root systems. Is that characteristic of HH or would it just be how they were grown? (Not by DA by under license i think)
@the_gardenerbenКүн бұрын
@@monevaluation4716 all roses are different but no it’s not a characteristic of HH many growers trim or tie up The roots

Planted mine bare root in May of this year and it grew 5 feet in 6 months and bloomed all season, it truly shocked me because I’ve had 2 pilgrims in the ground for nearly 3 years now and Bathsheba blew by them in that time and they are planted a few yards from each other.

Have you any experience watering the roses through a vertical plastic tube near the roots so that the water goes straight down 50cm under ground? Also how many hours would a dripp irrigation system need to be working to add the necessary 10-20 liters per plant that is recommended? Doesnt most of the dripping stay on the top of the soil?
@the_gardenerben4 күн бұрын
@@shariatiehsan you can use tubes sunk into the ground with larger specimens yes you maybe very surprised that you only need to run a drip line for around 15-20 mins depending on the system and your water pressure
@shariatiehsan4 күн бұрын
@@the_gardenerben so a normal "Gardena" dripp system in a normal urban setting would suffice? I believe it when I see it :) Can you please make a detailed video about your watering setup? That would be great.

Hi Ben. One corner of my yard with a tall wire elk fence in full sunshine will these roses habit and color wise be compatible: Bring me Sunshine, Scepter'd Isle, Scarborough Faire, and the Lark Ascending? And Gabriel Oak will not be far away. Thanks for your help, Sheila

@ thank you. I also don’t color or theme match. I just didn’t know if the yellow/gold of Bring me sunshine would clash or look ugly next to apricot Lark ascending. I am reassured. My general design rule is if I love something then it will probably look great with the other things I love. Wishing you and tour husband cozy, happy holidays!

I’ve planted my bare root one I got in November in a large pot. Does this grow quite quickly that I should put an obelisk/support in now? Thanks!
@the_gardenerben6 күн бұрын
@@aashfaria I would certainly have something to hand by June or July obviously being a young plant it will take a seasonal 2 to establish itself but it will eventually reach 5 to 6 feet even when pruned down to a permanent framework around 12 to 18 inches during the winter months

@ thanks ben! I’ll make sure to get a support in by then. Hopefully will be able to plant this in ground in a couple of years once I have my own house (renting atm hence why it’s in a pot)

My climbing roses are about 20 years old and showing signs of age. They are in a bed about 20 metres long trained on posts and wires, and I would like to take them out and replace them with hybrid tea Austin roses. But am I going to find the ground is going to be ‘rose sick’ or is this a myth? Can you plant a rose in the same place previously occupied by another rose?
