I have a question! Are you timing the winter planting through the first few weeks of February based on your last frost dare? If so, how many weeks before that date should I sew for my area?

@AR-mu4zq with sweet peas you have a very broad window and they are actually very frost Hardy once hardened off so no I’m not timing these with regards to the last frost date. It’s a point in getting them in started and making good solid plants by the time you bed them out normally in late March my advice is not to grow them inside, if you only have the ability to grow inside leave sewing them to at least the end of March and they can be bedded out towards the end of April. If you have the luxury of a greenhouse you can go ahead and get them in the ground and harden them off in about two months time before bedding them out in March.

Wow! So in England, things are already peeking out if the ground and you'll have blooms in a few short months? Here in Montana USA there is a blizzard 😢. I would love to live in a temperate climate and get more gardening out of the year. Love the channel.

@AR-mu4zq it’s funny many people say that but it’s actually really quite annoying the garden never really goes to sleep. It does slow down but never really stops which means you’re working 365 days of the year to keep up with it.

I went to David Austin’s rose garden center in Albrighton, UK in September 2023. I wasn’t impressed with Elizabeth rose due to asymmetrical, uninformed and less petal shape.

@@Stella-wg4vc I’m very sorry to hear that but as you can see from the photograph videos here it really is rather pretty and once given time to establish has formed a strong vigourous and high performing plant

It's a crying shame Munsted Wood is not there. She's the best David Austin ever did. All others I experienced are fickle and have no real world disease resistance. You spend so much money on getting things right with various disease prevention they end up proving a complete money losing and time-wasting activity, especially taking into account they only ever bloom briefly in the summer anyway.

This has got to be my favorite DA rose at the moment. Have 5 including one started from a cutting and now huge. Several of mine have become climber height of over 6' not compromising any other part of the plant! Cant wait to see if it remains climbing my fence this coming summer!

Thanks for the review Ben. I've had mine for 4 years and I am ready to move it for the 2nd time. I am kind of nervous so I will wait until the early spring before it leafs out. I love this rose, it's shape, flexibility and fragrance. Gorgeous form and color!

@@AJsGreenThumbLLC if you do have to move it and you are currently in winter please move it sooner rather than later and do not wait for it to start leafing out if you do it now it has a chance of starting to put on some roof growth below ground as the soil warms before it starts trying to support new leaves and new growth. It will be far less stressed the faster you move it make sure that you balance your top growth alongside the group below ground you need to bring it back substantially to give it a good chance of survival, membership service there is a step-by-step guide of how to do this
