In the latest installment of My Guitar Story, the Ontario-born guitar player famous for his work in The Sheepdogs discusses his number one guitar, a beaten-up 1966 Fender Telecaster.
Purchased around a decade ago, Bowskill was inspired to buy a mid-60s Telecaster due to the influence of his Dad’s close friend. Discovered in a classified ad in Canada, he contacted the seller immediately and his father collected the instrument outside a Walmart.
Bowskill says the seller’s uncle was a well-respected jazz guitarist throughout the late 20th century, and used this guitar as his main instrument.

Had the pleasure of seeing him play with the sheepdogs at the Red Rooster Festival in May, what a player and the band are awesome live. If they play near you, go and see them.

Same here. Jimmy played a fantastic 2008 Truro International Bluesfestival. He reminded of Rory Gallagher in stage presence and musical style. A Powerhouse! Me and my friends met him after the show. Still have images and a signed CD. Good ole times!

I also have a 1966 maple cap Telecaster! Love that guitar. It's light and it sounds great. I'm gonna play that thing until the day I die.

Well I was so impressed at the Blue Rodeo gig tonight. I've been a Healey fan since he came to the Maritimes in the 80's and I'm so glad he saw your talent at an early age. Thanks for your amazing licks tonight. Haven't heard live pedal like that in along time. Cheers and thank you for the gift tonight.

Classic Tele. Very nice. I love Tele's too and play them mainly now. I would fall more into line of the shredder realm though, but wouldn't trade mine for a Jem any day.

@@Jawjerker06 Ed Bickert was an amazing virtuoso. As far as I am concerned the Grand Maester of Guitar was Lenny Breau, another Canadian!
