I don’t see a difference between wigs, fake nails, unnatural hair colors or makeup. They’re all things we do to build our confidence and make us happy. I bit my nails for over 50 years and always hid my hands. Nail polish finally helped me stop. I now have 250 bottles of nail polish. Every few months, I take them down to look at and rearrange. It’s a small expense that brings me great joy. I love watching and listening to you. That makes me happy too. Thank you for sharing, Juanita You are a beautiful woman and I love your personality and wish I were more bubbly and endearing.

As a fellow Trickster this video is a model of bravery! You gave me my entire life! Hair is a big part of self esteem, it is neither vain or silly. You know in the African-American community wearing pieces, weaves and wigs is so common we have a saying when someone asks is that your hair, "It's on top of my head, it's MY hair." You started talking about lace fronts and I was like, "She's a sister girl now, WERK!" You did what to yourself, give yourself trich? Nope. So the state of your hair, the fact that you're wearing a wig now should hold no shame or be a source of blaming yourself. People wear these items for a variety of reasons, it doesn't matter...you are doing it because you want to no matter how you came to that choice and you love the results, it's all over your face. You also look good without your wig...if that's what you want to do. Have you tried Biotin for hair growth? I've been pull free for almost a year and while I've been able to calm the compulsion it never goes away. This video is so encouraging knowing I'm not alone.

It's not stupid! Don't think that at all! I am actually a nail biter. All my life, I've had little nubby nails. I'd bite them and pick at them so much that they'd bleed and it hurt. I never cared for polish because I never could make it look good and didn't have money to go to a salon. I realized about 10 years ago, in college, that there are actually techniques that help with painting and making it look professional. I also learned that if they're painted, I won't bite my nails because I don't want to mess it up. I am not girly, but I feel so much prettier with long nails. (Thyroid and anemia issues don't help either). Nail polish and wigs are so small in the grand scheme of things, but I get it. It means everything. I'm so glad you feel happy and pretty and that your insides match the bubbly and fun gal we see in your videos. You are 1,000,000% worth it. ❤

Kristen, you know exactly what to say! I loved this comment and thank you so much for it. I am so comforted in knowing that you get it. Its been kind of hard explaining why I have started wearing wigs to people because I don't want the looks of confusion or follow up questions that are a little insensitive. So your compassion and sympathy is perfect! I am so happy that you have found a solution to your nail bitting and that you have found happiness, strength and fantastic polish! You are so right that is all small potatoes but at the end of the day if it helps spread happiness, kindness and love then its all worth it. You are so thoughtful and I so blessed to have you by my side. HUGGLES!!!

Thank you for posting this brave video. Whilst I don't suffer from trichotillomania, I do suffer dermotillomania (skin picking). My main areas are my face and my scalp. I've noticed my hair is thinning, either from damage I've done to my scalp, or from illness (I'm bedbound with ME and fibro). Nothing you said in your video sounded stupid or vain - it's such a hard thing to explain to someone without the compulsion. They usually say "well, just stop then", or "just don't do it". Now why didn't we think of that, eh? You are so brave, and your wig looks incredible xxxxxxx

I can imagine that this was not only a hard journey but very difficult to put out there for the world. I have loved your nail polish videos, but this has truly made me look up to you even more. Please never think you are being vain for looking beyond things and wanting to find a solution that makes you feel better. It isn't vain or self-centered to want to be your best self, to want to have that to feel confident enough to share with others and the world. You are a beautiful and stunning light in this world, inside and out, and I know this video will help others. It has truly blessed me to be a part of your journey here on KZbin. This is such an awesome video. Thank you. I'm sure you will help a lot of people with your issues. I myself am a nail biter. I have bitten them since I was a small girl. I have damaged the nail beds on 3 of the 5 fingers on each hand. I can TOTALLY understand how a wig or a hair piece can make you feel so happy. My nail polish obsession is to me what your wig is to you. When I have a beautiful polish on my nails I don't want to bite them and my self esteem is so much higher than when I just have ugly little nail bitten fingers. I had acrylics to help me get to the point where my nails are to the ends of my fingers but I found that i was starting to pick and chew at them when I needed a fill... so I soaked them off and I just keep them polished and filed short and its just been so wonderful!

Kudos to you for this video. ❤ Thanks so much for being brave. You're gorgeous girl!

You are so brave and beautiful -- on the inside and the outside. I feel like your beautiful and caring personality shines through in every video you do. I can only imagine how hard and scary this video was for you to make. I have PCOS, coupled with fine hair, so I feel some of your pain regarding hair loss and just the insecurity of not-enough-hair. Before I was diagnosed, I had no idea why my hair seemed so thin. I was so insecure that I avoided having my hair done for months. Finally, I worked up the courage to get something done with it, and the stylist told me the reason my hair was thin was because I was too fat. So there wasn't enough hair to cover my head (you know, because my head was getting so fat ... :/). I managed to hold it together long enough to pay, and then I sat in my car and cried for half an hour. Your real hair is beautiful. It's such a pretty color, and the texture is super pretty. Thank you so much for your courage and your beautiful outlook on life. And thank you for sharing this. I had commented on one of your previous BFRB videos about my daughter, who constantly picks at her skin on her fingers. We got her a few of those fidget spinners. She keeps them in her jacket pocket, and she told me they help her pick less. That felt like a huge victory to me. (Also, maybe I'm a doofus, but I totally thought it was your real hair. *cyberhugs*)

First off-Your hair looks amazing, hair pieces or not. I’ve always thought your hair was adorable, and I am super happy that you have found a solution that brings you so much confidence! :) We all have things that we focus on for vanity purposes, and frankly, anything that you can do to help yourself overcome things that you are self conscious about is a good thing. :) I have never been diagnosed with anything about it short of anxiety, etc….but I pick at my face like crazy and I used to chew my nails to the point that they would bleed, which is actually how I got into nail polish. I was getting acrylics in order to keep from chewing my nails, and I just got tired of it. I found that when my nails looked nice that I didn’t *want* to chew them, so I have made the conscious effort to keep them polished for the last 3 years and it has worked as long as I keep them polished (if I let them go bare, I will totally chew them all back down to nubs within a day...sigh). It’s amazing how much happiness can come from finding a way to overcome something we are so hung up on. I am so happy for you!!!!

Aw Sweetie this is such a strong thing to come out and show! I do not suffer from Trichotillomania or anything similar, but I do have two large strips of 'bald" spots of either side of my head. It can be very hard to deal with and definitely hurts my self esteem and confidence. I try to explain my situation by saying my hair grows like Barbie's, because if you look at the head of a Barbie you can see that the hair was placed in lines not random and that leaves entire 'rows' without hair.

You are absolutely lovely with all the hair pieces, your smile just radiates! But I want you to know that you're equally as gorgeous without them, and I mean that whole heartedly! I TOTALLY understand the struggle with the confidence, and honestly, when we feel self conscious with ourselves, it doesn't always matter what anyone has to say, no matter how nice it is. Our inner voice is so much stronger when it comes to self criticism. This goes for hair, weight, skin, stretch marks... Whatever the case may be. I adore you. Always have, always will!

I have dermatillomania (skin picking) which is focused on my face. i had gotten it completely under control and was doing absolutely NO picking. but selfish people in my mans family have forced me into turning my life upside down and the stress is causing me to pick again ): this grocery store I go to I always see this really nice lady there, and this morning she told me she was so so worried about me when she saw my face and she's so glad to see it healing up so well and it honestly touched my heart so much. it made my whole day. because that lady had never seen me like that and cared about me. usually when someone mentions it I feel like they are crossing obvious boundaries but she actually cared about me and I could tell. so I guess that's why it was different. up until about two years ago I had bitten my nails since preschool but I've gotten that under control now (: really feel all my people who have to deal with these types of issues.

Thank-you for this video. I don't suffer from BFRB but I do have low confidence so I'm all about watching videos of people talking about how they boost their confidence up. So, now that we know your secret, I'd love to see you experiment with different lengths and colours of wigs! Imagine how fun it would be if you came at us with a short pink bob one video and long green locks in another! And you can match your nails. Endless possibilities!

Yes I love wigs too! You look so good! I also suffer with trich but only in specific spots and have since my teenage years(I'm 19 lol). You can also make fake baby hairs on a wig by using scissors and cutting around the front part of the lace front and also pluck the side part with some tweezers to make it more noticeable or put some makeup of your skin complexion in the part to make it distinguishable, there are plenty of KZbin videos that can explain it better than I can . I bought a Brazilian human hair wig for $150 dollars on AliExpress that I was able to bleach and dye from black to light auburn and is still in good condition! good luck I love your channel and all your nail polish!!❤️❤️❤️😍😍

Honestly, it makes me love you and your videos even more. Thank you so much for sharing. Laying bare your deepest insecurities is excrutiatingly difficult for anyone; but you managed to reach out with your usual flare and wonderful sense of humor to not only inform and educate, but to help others with your honesty. Thank you so much! XO

I truly love your salt and pepper hair. Good luck on your journey. You foreal look so beautiful even with your natural hair. BUT I get it. When you're insecure about something, it really doesn't matter too much if others like that thing.

Sprayology Hair Skin and nail tonic is pretty good I learned about it from Erica Wyatts Channel I will say that you need to go through at least three bottles before you notice a difference once you get past that second one and you get maybe a week into that third when you will see a difference is pretty good stuff I've been trying to get it and keep it every month you put two sprays under the tongue three times a day and the bottles last for about a month so it's pretty good stuff I haven't noticed much in the way of my nails but my hair is definitely healthier in the new growth

bonitajuanita sprayology has their own site it is sprayology.com it may be cheaper on their site than Amazon it was like 27 when I first got it now it's 29 I know that whenever I order two bottles at a time is 58 and some change and because I have PayPal I can have the option of paying 10 days later but it is a really good spray and is homeopathic it's not chemically or anything like that

I admire you so much for talking about this like that on the internet! If I may say, your hair looks fabulous to me! 😉 I've had problems with my hair for a couple of years now too... Hair around where my forehead is had become so thin that you could actually see my scalp... Seen the doctors, I've used all kinds of different products but nothing happened. But then I started to take mM KOLLAGEN and within a month I have tiny new hair growing and I can't be more happy about it 😄 It is, however, a product that is sold in Europe, they make it in Norway.... I'm sure you will find something that will help, even if it takes a little time to find the right thing for you! Regardless, your hair is still fabulous and you as a person are even more fabulous! 💖

I just joined your channel a few days ago and I've been looking through your older videos. I love that you did this! We all have insecurities but the really strong ones among us are the ones who are willing to talk about them to help others deal with their own. You are beautiful and wonderful, with or without a wig! p.s. I had to walk around bald for an entire year in 2013-2014 when I lost my hair because of chemotherapy. I also have very thin hair to begin with, so I kinda feel your pain...

Robin you are amazing! I wish I had you as my hairdresser. I know im late in saying this but what an amazing lady you are. I've only just subscribed in the last couple of days after finding you through the other nail girls you mention but oh my goodness.....what an inspiration you are. I don't suffer your condition but used to be a serious nail biter until about 10 years ago and now have fairly good nails. However, I do suffer a huge lack of confidence in myself.....always have and always will but today....after watching this...I realise that I ought to be more grateful and should feel better about myself. That's down to you and your courage and positivity so THANK YOU ❤
