I use apple cider vinegar for shampoo and I have relaxed hair and I’m 15 weeks post relaxer and it hasn’t made my hair fall out but you’re supposed to do equal parts of vinegar, water and coconut oil or your voice of oil. Everyone’s different tho thanks for the disclaimer. I also follow up with a protein conditioner ☺️

I hate naturals that try to force being natural down everybody's throat. I'm a natural, have been all my life and I suffer from a dry scalp and dandruff as well....and I'm STILL trying to find a way around it lol

ktkt220 Sulfur 8 girl.... I spent years avoiding grease because the natural hair community swears it stunts hair growth and is bad for you. But I'm finally getting relief from my itchy scalp and yes, my hair is still growing.

gigglyfitzgirl yes girl! I went back to sulfur 8 for a little bit but I had to stop because that stuff smells (which wasnt an issue) but being that I work out consistently after 3-4 days my hair would smell so bad so I had to stop. I've now been using a blend of jojoba and tea tree oil and its worked soo well. Sometimes I throw some Blue Magic in the equation lol

I prefer natural hair, but don't get it twisted, the wrong products can ruin natural hair as well. So with that being said, wear your hair whichever way you choose to. Natural does not necessarily mean healthy.

Simão Banina Lmao going relaxed doesn't automatically set you up for being bald. My aunt has been getting relaxers ALL her life, and she still has extremely thick hait that grows like wildfire. I've been getting mine relaxed since I was little and my hair is in good condition as well (minimal breakage, thick, past shoulder length). Speak for yourself. Different strokes different folks. Just because a relaxer is bad for you, that doesn't mean it will be bad for everyone else.

Kysha May yes that Aphogee protein treatment works great and will stop her breakage and repair the hair quickly. I'm natural, but I tend to steer clear of the homemade treatments as well because I've heard that they're not that great and if you can't truly measure the ph and etc you could really damage your hair, I'll do natural oils and stop there.

Actually relaxers dry the scalp and hair then combined with poor products and practices it can be a recipe for dandruff. Being natural and having dry hair is slightly different from having hair chemically dried out. Dandruff can occur in either situation but it is up to each person to analyze their routine to see if products or practices are the problem. Genetically some people can do what another can't.

The white stuff in your hair is probably the egg. If you used warm/hot water it's going to cook the egg in your hair & leave the chunks that you saw. That's why you have to make sure you rinse it out with cool/cold water.

allofdestiny I'm so sorry this happened to you. I am a licensed cosmetologist and, I'm pretty sure that other subscribers mentioned this, but please try Aphogee two step protein treatment. Follow it up with the ph balancing conditioner this will restore the natural ph balance in your hair cuticles. Also, you don't have to big chop your hair. Trim it a little then wear a protective style. Keep trimming as your hair continues to grow that help your hair to grow in healthy. I agree with you about not relaxing your hair until it becomes healthy again.

Shonda Smith try Sally's beauty or most local beauty supply store also sell them. please, please make sure to follow the directions and to use the PH balancing conditioner after. The protein is liquid and it smells awful, your hair will harden like a rock while it's penetrating the cuticle don't try to comb your hair once it's hard. Rinse it out then follow with the PH balancing conditioner.

+allofdestiny boo, I'm so sorry but I got you... you were experiencing a protein overload and that vinegar knocked you right on out of the park. what you will be needing now is a moisture/protein balance to get you back in this thang correct...do this for a month and I swear you will be thanking me. Sunday- hot oil in dry hair with jbco/evoo heated. wash with cream of nature shampoo. deep condition with cream of nature intensive treatment. rinse. moist with Cantu cream and oil- rollers set. Wednesday hot oil on dry hair and aussie moist conditioner on dry hair let it sit for a while. rinse. Come in and moist with Cantu cream and oil, then roller set. Friday- oils and Queen Helene Cholesterol (protein) on dry hair walk around with it and a shower cap. rinse then wash hair with cream of nature. moist. roller set. the rules of this game is no heat...I wouldn't sit under the dryer once and please do not relax for a month because your hair will fall out. try to relax a week after the big protein treatment. dont let water touch your head with out oil in it. and in the last day of this month you can use a real cleansing shampoo and then relax a few days later. she the problem is to much protein its in the gel the shampoo and conditioner then you used the vingear protein rinse. during this time dont use grease, baby oil, and get a non protein gel. also get some botein. do this till December 1st and you will be popping again. promise. let be know how it goes. love ya !

There's no need for the negative comments I am reading. I am a new natural and I am learning that everything isn't for everybody. I remember when I was relaxed and I tried an acv rinse and my hair was so dry and brittle afterwards and for that very reason I am still scared of trying to do an acv rinse now that I'm natural. Being natural doesn't solve every issue that relaxing causes. Being natural is hard work also and it takes patience and understanding of your new curls and coils to achieve a head full of strong hair period. With that being said Destiny I am so sorry this happened to you. I know how awful it feels to have a setback during a hair journey but I have watched you grow your hair before and I am confident that you will be able to make a comeback whether you choose to transition or remain relaxed. Which is strictly your choice- again everything isn't for everybody.

The most important thing with the apple cider vinegar rinse is to dilute it to start off with a very weak solution it look like you put too much vinegar cuz I use apple cider vinegar but right after I also give myself a protein rinse and that's the rice water which I use with my shampoo when you have relaxed hair you have to be careful of the other chemicals that you put in your hair cuz apple cider vinegar will be considered as a chemical when you're using another chemical in your hair which is the relaxer be careful because you will go bald if you make too many mistakes that you will have mass breakage

This is just one of those mishaps with any hair journey relaxed or natural . I had dandruff for years and like you I had it as a child so not relaxer related . I started using Aveda damage remedy shampoo ( although my hair isn't damaged) it cleared up my dandruff and is now a shampoo I use all the time because it's ingredients is naturally derived. Keep trimming every 6-8 weeks until all the damage of the treatment is gone. Home treatments can be hit and miss and with relaxed hair it can be risky . The low bun is a great protective style 👌🏾 I love your videos!

You might have to wait a few months before you decide whether to relax again or not. I'm 16 months post and my hair is the longest it's ever been. But it may also be the combination of not blowing & flat ironing every week that helped. But, of course, I had to subscribe to stay updated on your journey. ☺️

You're probably tired of hearing this but please go natural. My hair was like yours at one point from relaxers (thin ends, brittle) then I made the mistake of adding color and had bald spots. I began transitioning then big chopped 2 years ago and now my hair is so thick, full and has beautiful curls. Not gonna lie, the maintenance is tedious but once u get the hang of it, it's not a big deal. Now my hair straightened is waist length and my wash and gos are huge. Please go natural. Start with using less heat as well. You will see a big difference.

Ok Destiny..I been watching for a while and I was wondering why your hair was getting shorter and shorter...My Personal Opinon is that you should Leave your hair alone ..stay away from Heat...because along with the ACV rinse you appeared (on camera) to use a lot of heat I have seen you Blow dry then flat iron, Then hot curl, in the same style...My suggestion is to stay away from Direct Heat so much and since you have damage now try wearing protective styles like large box braids, crochets, or braid it up and continue to wear wigs...its getting cold soon so wigs may be a good option especially to hide your dandruff..and if you haven't used Pure tea tree oil. try it and be consistent with using it.. You may not always have to have dandruff or it may not even be dandruff My daughter Poobie scalp was just like that as a child and completely got rid of it by never using only Sulfer 8 products for about 2-3 years straight the whole line and only that and there was this tea tree oil in that line that I think completely cured it and it was really strong but it worked a miracle it didn't hurt her scalp it healed it..anyways hunny I have always watched your videos and I know you'll bounce back once you get a good regimen started you'll be just fine By the way I am on a hair Journey and I am also Texlaxed and learning new things everyday ♡♡♡♡♡ ♡

Congratulations on 70,000 subies! I love your YT and IG. I'm not relaxed, but I love your styles and tips from your beauty regimens. Your feathering technique was my birthday/Christmas style last year when I flat ironed for the first time. Girl it was in point! Regarding your breakage...I'm not really sure if my tip will work for you since it looks like you still plan to use heat. But for me, when my hair experienced lots of shedding, I created a solution made with aloe vera juice and flaxseed oil. I placed 8 Oz of the juice mixed with about a table spoon of flaxseed oil in a spray bottle and used this weekly as my leave in conditioner prior to doing my bun updos or natural rod sets. The solution immediately stopped my hair from breaking and added lots of thickness. With weekly deep conditions, my hair is now growing. Just thought I'd share what worked for me. BTW your hair is still on fleek!

Destiny, start doing deep conditioning every time you wash your hair, you can deep condition & do an oil treatment at the same time. Apply the deep conditioner, then the oil on top!! Deep conditioners work better than regular conditioners, even if you do sit under the dryer, for the deep conditioners are still working even after you rinse them out!!

Hey destiny I am currently experiencing the same issues like you, but trying to get back to my regular routine, I also had dandruff even before my hair was relaxed , what I found worked for me was not relaxing my hair much and also I used an Anti Dandruff hair and scalp treatment called "Stop It"... it has been a life saver for me , I apply it every two days in my hair and I haven't seen a spec of dandruff in my hair after keeping up with the routine, and girl do whatever works for you and honestly I like my hair being relaxed , I'm not into this "natural hair movement", it's what you feel comfortable with and I love taking care of my relaxed hair, so keep up the great work and Congrats on 70,000 subscribers.

Its like the stuff we used in the past worked greatly now we are so much into experimenting. The stuff they made back in the day don't seem to work like they used to, it's too much product changing. I'm just going to continue washing with my creme of nature and stick to products I know work. I've tried home remedies in the past and all of them were a let down. Some natural hair gurus swear if it's natural it works, what works for some don't work for everyone.

Oh Destiny. All the best with your hair journey. Stay away from the heat and don't fiddle with your hair too much. When I was relaxed my hair became healthier and thicker when I left it alone to some degree. Co-Wash and go's helped a lot. You might want to go to a professional one time to get your hair properly trimmed to have a fresh start too.

A hair journey is a trial and error journey .... I was relaxed now I am 2 years relaxer free .... When I was relaxed I would wash my hair every 2 weeks I would get lots of dandruff and flakey scalp all the time .... My mom use to put warm olive oil on my scalp and make me sit under a hair dryer ... I used every dandruff shampoo know to man .... When I started on my 1st hair growth journey and started watching you tube for information and tips...the 1st thing I noticed was that every hair guru would wash their hair weekly and or twice weekly alternating co wash and shampoo wash ... When I started washing my hair weekly .... I noticed a major change in the condition of my scalp .... Hair products can cause scalp dryness if left to long ... It is very important to clean the scalp as often as needed and everyone is different if you work out or you sweat a lot or in the summer everyday then wash more often ... BeCause sweating in the scalp can cause fungus on the scalp .... I also alternate shampoos and conditioners ... Believe me a clean scalp will maximize your hair growth to its fullest I went from neck to mid back length relaxed hair .... I am almost 2 years post relaxer ... After a mini chop to shoulder length back in March 2015 my transitioning hair is now back to mid back length will be cutting again soon

cmiro2000 I have a question, what do you mean by maximise your hair growth? are you saying by washing your hair too much will make your hair not grow? or by washing your hair too little will not make your hair grow??
@Theelaydee
@Theelaydee 8 жыл бұрын
Saida Brightmon I know you asked her, but I feel like I can help ☺️ I say both to your question. When washing too often, our hair becomes stripped and dry, which only makes breakage occur more often. And when not washing enough, our scalp gets clogged and cannot breathe, an unhealthy scalp makes for unhealthy hair. Think of your head as a tree... if a tree has weak roots (unhealthy scalp), the tree (our hair) won't have a strong enough connection to drink up all of the nutrients a well moisturized scalp would give. Hope I helped 😊

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Trust me, I know the feeling. I'm natural but tend to rock weaves, because I love color (blonde). Earlier this year I figured since I'm natural I could use Dark & Lovely hair color. Although I was wearing my natural hair out at the time, the color broke my hair. I think it was a combination of the color plus flat ironing. So I went back to weaves to keep my hands out of it. You're not alone. Hang in there and keep taking care of your hair and I'm sure it'll grow out. You're beautiful and your hair is beautiful. I love your channel.

Maybe you should switch out the Sulfur 8 shampoo. Sulfur 8 masks the dandruff, but the Pyrithione Zinc in it also dries the scalp, ridding it of its natural oils, and it turn brings the dandruff back. its more than likely throwing off your pH balance of your scalp. You should try something like a Tea Tree shampoo and back it up with a moisturizing and hydrating conditioner and/or mask. The tea 🌳 is not as harsh, and it works well! and the conditioner will give u the moisture you need to balance your hair and scalp again. Paul Mitchell has a great line! P.S. your dandruff has very little to do with being relaxed. it just needs gentle cleansing and more moisture! 😊 love your channel!

My daughter has very bad dandruff and I brought her into the dermatologist and she was diagnosed with dermatitis of the scalp. So she has a prescription shampoo that she uses now to keep the dandruff under control. I would recommend that if your dandruff has always been a problem. She can’t leave braids in to long or crochet because her scalp sheds more than the average and she will get itchy patches on her head that turn into scabs if not washed enough. We just found your page today before we did a at home relaxer and thanks for all the info, it helped us so much 😊 she is straightening it right now and I’m going to help her trim it. That’s again ❤️

After your protein treatment.... those white specs isn't dandruff... it's the egg you used. The heat from your head and rinsing your hair with warm water made the egg cook. I hope you see this comment Destiny. Don't be so alarmed!!!

The white stuff was probably the egg you used in your protein treatment. If you rinsed using warm to hot water, the egg cooks and becomes harder to remove from hair.

Oh no Destiny this is so unfortunate! I agree with you in the aspect that some people just have dry scalp. I also had the same issue relaxed and natural. I am relaxed now and have used diluted acv directly on my scalp for my dandruff and actually worked but now you got me scared girl! now that I wash and condition my hair once a week I do find myself with less dandruff. peppermint oil in my my shampoo definitely helps. I wish you luck on this journey. I think you will be fine as long as you give your hair moisture and protect your ends. I too have become bun girl after recovering from a minor setback but my hair is really thriving now

To regrow your hair try Jamaican black castor oil, hunny when I tell you that stuff truly helps! Aphoghee has a two step protein treatment that is LOVELY. It smells terrible but I love it, my hair is natural and I damaged it badly from so much color and heat at one point it helped me regain the strength. As for dandruff, as a child my mom used the shampoo (and I still do to this day) called T Gel by Neutrogena, it looks weird and nasty lol but it works so well!

Most likely because it fucked up the pH level, and since relaxer also changes the pH, the two had an adverse reaction and resulted in this. Please do some research on things because word of mouth isn't good enough ❤

Hi Destiny! I just wanna say that I'm sorry about your hair breakage. That sucks.😖 And, it is just hair, like you said, it will grow back but, we still want it to stay on our heads unless we opt for a cut. I've been natural for two years after doing what it seems you're doing with my relaxed hair ( using natural hair techniques to make my relaxed hair healthier) it was a fail.😫 My hair responded well to the coco and stretching of perms for a time, but the heat styling and relaxer applications were destined to have my hair a thin and stringy mess. After my last relaxer in Sept 2014, I experienced massive breaking in the back of my head, and after months of swooning over naturals on KZbin, I agreed to let my husband give me a buzzcut big chop!🙌🏽👏🏽 It was scary and liberating and I never cried a single tear since. What was thin, and damn near transparent, hair that barely grazed my jawline is now lush, thick, coils, that after 2 years now, when fully stretched is past my shoulders and a third down my back Including regular trims and no growth supplements. Shrinkage is too real doe'😩 I said all that, not to persuade you to go or return to natural; just to give you an idea of my journey. I think your hair is very nice and love how you style it. No "natural nazi" here, if relaxed hair works then work it.💃🏽 But, since perms wouldn't let me be great, I discovered water, and homemade hair butter, and flat twists would. I never received compliments on my relaxed hair unless I had a fresh short cut, or a weave. But now, I get compliments and glances of awe at my bomb twistouts every time I leave the house!💯 I only subbed a few days ago after finding your awesome tutorial on the horseshoe method with flexirods... worked like a charm, thanks for that. 🙏🏽 After watching a few more of your vids, your candor and that adorable accent made me have to subscribe.😍 Unfortunately, all youtube naturals don't take the time out to truly read, and only follow the traditions of older, more popular curly girls. But, your mom was right. Vinegar is way too acidic and corrosive to be used on natural or relaxed hair. I used it once about a year ago in a severely diluted ratio as a final rinse for a softening agent and it made my hair feel sooo soft, almost mushy which prompted me to research. What I thought was softening was actually the ACV dissolving the molecular bonds of my hair strands.😱 One case I found online was of a vegan white woman who chronicled how ACV used regularly as a shampoo practically disintegrated her hip length tresses. Quite sad. Needless to say, I never used it again. Some people swear it works wonders, but i cant dispute the science of it all and chose to err on the side of caution. Sorry for the dissertation🤓 All that to say, Wherever your journey takes you; I'll be watching and rooting for your success! Happy hair growing!🌱🌱🌱💖✌🏽️

Hey Destiny thanks for sharing your experience with us, as it takes a brave and honest person to share something that could be considered "bad" , your hair WILL definitely bounce back, I have been following you for years and you have skills girl, also you may know another you tuber by the name of Sw33tSparkl3 she is relaxed and had a MAJOR setback and she documented her new journey and her hair did a complete 180 , it's down her back and she is still relaxed ! I love you postiive attitude, I also have a bit of a science background and passion for healthy hair so I like to read a lot about the ph scale and since vinegar has a low ph if left on hair too long ( depending on density and texture even 3 minutes can be considered too long) hair will literally start to dissolve just like on the opposite end of the spectrum with relaxers that have a high ph if let on too long hair will do the same thing

I'm glad you uploaded this because I would've never had a clue. But as someone who's a natural from relaxed; knowing the things that I know now. I would never use natural hair tactics on relaxed hair. ACV is a very strong acidic. I have a dry, itchy, flakey scalp too so I feel your frustration. Once I started using Sulfur8 everything gotten better immediately. Since the PH of your hair is off I'll say try APHogee products; I swear by the stuff. Perfect for color treated, relaxed &/or damaged hair. +allofdestiny

I'm sorry for your loss, be confident that you can and will recover because hair always grows unless it's a case of tension alopecia, which I don't believe it is because your hair follicles would be inflamed with tiny pus filled bumps that turn white at the root and your entire bulb would come out of your scalp... you would notice that. I'm a certified cosmetologist so please trust me on that one, please be relieved... I've been watching your journey and I usually do not comment, but this time I felt compelled because I too suffered hair loss in Feb '15, except mine was broken to the quick. my hair grows slow about one fourth of an inch a month unless I'm on a growth journey, then I've grown about up to an inch or a tad more a month. okay so for the white stuff comments are being made concerning, I believe it's debris from your towels... not quite dandruff every time. I would suggest using a t shirt to towel dry, then for your breakage, you do not need or have to go al naturale', seemingly that is not your desire to do such a thing, so please don't feel pressured to... and you also did a good trim. 😉 You don't have to cut all of your hair off. As your hair grows out, you can trim it down slowly as to not have a drastic change. what I did mainly was protective styles, green house effect, wild growth hair oil you can purchase at Sally's and (yes, every other night sparingly it WORKS) a little goes a LONG way... please cover your hair EVERY night... and satin pillowcases help if your covering comes off... lastly, go back to your 5 month relaxed stretches and from research, no-lye relaxers are like cancer of the scalp. my favorite is Silk Elements Shea Butter in the brown container, it's an excellent, overlooked relaxer... I've had no excessive shedding and I wish I could post photos to show you my progress for the past year and 9 months, I have slowly cut my longer hair down to the breakage and my hair has become so much fuller... I can email you if you'd like... I hope this helps you. May God continue to richly bless you... Be blessed. I'm sorry I'm long winded. just do not be discouraged... God Restores!!! By the way, God restored my hair to grow about 8 inches in about 15 months which is good because I usually only grow a half an inch in 3 months, regular hair growth... 😉😇 Happy hair growing... I've given you my testimony and I received great results... I pray it also works for you... You are beautiful! Happy Sabbath...
