Why not cut off the dead ends?
@carmelacristoforo262 Жыл бұрын
So I just want to say right off the bat how much I enjoy your channel! I love your gentle spirit and your kind heart. I just had a similar experience with my hair. I kept it in twists and braids for a long long time and saw so much growth. I didnt wash it enough and didn't do manditory trims thinking that my hair looked fine while in a curly state until I blow dried it straight and Oh my gosh ...my hair was down to my thighs but 10 inches of it was damaged and had runnng ends. so long story short my partner cut 10 inches off while I crid, and it looked so much healthier and the ends were so thick! I'm getting married in less than 2 weeks and I didn't know what to do. I didn'nt want to cut it but it didn'nt look good. It's still longer but now its to my tailone in a straigtened state. I was told I need to wash it at least once a week and putting product on over and over over plus oils just builds up in my hair making the strands very dry. Water is what moisturizes our hair not product. I was always so careful of reading product ingredients and NEVER applid any heat. Thats not enough to care for our hair properly. Now I plan on washing consistantly and trimming ever so slightly but on a schedule so I can catch those running ends sis. Whoever is having the same issues ...(and I bet there are alot of us out there) will be going on this healing journey with you! LETS GO GIRLS! 😁

Henna does that .. with time the hair gets brittle, frizzy, week & changes the curl pattern and eventually starts to shed and reversing that takes time .. this does not happen to everyone but to to some hair types.. if we know what our hair likes and not like .. that is the secret of a healthy hair. Thanks for sharing your journey 🎉

The problem is people are doing it too often and all over the head instead of touching up the roots. It's like putting relaxer on already relaxed ends over and over again. Gotta use any product, natural or not, wisely.

Fenugreek is a protein treatment as well and too much protein can lead to damaged hair So you may want to experiment and see what works for you. I'll be doing a fenegreek paste once every 2 weeks. So twice a month

Hey there. Don't be so hard on yourself. Treat yourself gently and lean into those times in life when you are on any journey and the path gets rough or you even lose sight of the road. You were the first natural hair blogger I came across that pushed me into going natural. I have had a heck of a bunch of years (since 2019) when taking care of my hair was not even on the list. But now I am back to trying small things that are manageable, using the best products I can and not stressing over the fact that my very fine hair is not at waist length yet. I am looking forward to your continued content with special interest on how to heal damaged hair, as well as what a simple routine and products/ingredients should be considered if you want to stay natural but take a break from the intensity of a natural hair care routine. You are such a lovely soul. Don't lose faith.

I honestly followed your fenugreek mask and my hair is growing faster than before, I will write some points hope it would help anyone reads it : henna makes the hair dry so I always add natural moisturizers to it, cutting the ends monthly is really great for the hair and not by anyone . Find the one with good hands . Some products will let all the weak hair fall out so we panic , but by time their good effect shows , food and supplements have great effect on hair ,

Could you please share the natural moisturizers? 🥰
@TracyD2 Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure how cutting the hair monthly will allow for longer hair. Perhaps you meant dusting the ends. As you know hair on average grows .5 inches/1.3 cm a month. That’s not a lot. I agree if you are not dying the hair with henna like I do then don’t use it straight without any moisturizers, skip the lemons and other acids as well. Still when I dye my gray with henna/indigo I only do roots. I treat it like I would a chemical dye. That’s where some people go wrong as well.

I love this video. Your hair always looks so perfect, voluminous and healthy. I have had a few setbacks myself during my natural hair journey. I have had breakage and lazy episodes as well. It's inspiring to see that someone I look up to in this natural hair care space also experiences set backs. Thank you for your candor. I was heartbroken when my hair broke off. I love yournpositive attitude. In the end it's just hair and it will grow back. GOD WILLING. I'm looking forward to seeing how you care for the damaged parts of your hair. I'm wondering if you will cut it off or if there is a way to treat and repair. Many naturalistas say that u must cut off the damaged ends because the splits will spread. Ugh willfully cutting my hair after years of dedication and hard work is difficult. I dust my ends regularly while my hair is in twists but as far as a hefty cut/trim I have avoided that. I'm looking forward to your damaged hair treatment content very much. Your channel has been revolutionary in my hair journey. Keep it up. Love your videos. All of them.
@sabby7465 Жыл бұрын
It sounds like you need a few deep moisturizing treatments too. From the henna to the oil that's coating your hair strands, water and other moisturizing productus are probably having a hard time penetrating the all layers. Maybe that's why the ends of your hair feels like straw. It's similar to what happened to me. I used henna for a while, but wasn't really moisturizing. I was using butters and oils instead of water and cremes and my hair suffered. But, now it's back on track! Excited to see your hair restoration journey!

Appreciate your honesty, I think it might be protein overload. If anyone noticed most of the shampoo and conditioners and stylers have some kind of protein in them. I think protein should only be a treatment not for everyday. Looking forward to seeing how you repair the damage hair and what you learn.

Hello I have experienced the same issues that you are facing. I stopped henna and all ayurvedic treatments and i start removing all the layers by clarifying every wash day and deeply moisturize with mask free of protein. I have already noticed an amelioration on my hair manageability. For my thick and coarse hair, henna was a disaster. Perhaps you should change drastically your regimen to recover your natural hair. For sure, you are using something which is harmfull for your hair.

Yeah. It happens. Went through something similar during my shirt time of straightening during my major trim I do once a year. I surrendered the desire to have waist length though when my hair was snagging onto evevrything at mid back length. I realized that health is more important than length. Also too much protein conditions also cased damage for me. I just didn't need it. We live and learn and that straw feeling got to go.😅😂. Health is wealth!

I have a similar story about my hair. I have been into natural hair care since high school. It was difficult to keep up with all the products and ingredients. I decided to straighten my hair for a event in college and my hair was so frizzy, dry, and tangled that I knew my hair was in a damaged state. Now I'm trying to learn more about how hair products protect the hair and how it can be repaired. Since then, I have been using more film-forming products on my hair to protect it from wear and tear and allow it to be smoother. Also, I have trimmed those rough ends. I have straightened my hair again since. My hair had more movement and less tangles, but the porosity still high and my hair is still prone to dryness. I would like to try k18, but it is so expensive. Overall, I am excited to learn more about hair care and see if I can make a successful plan to repair my hair. Good luck to you on your journey.

Hi sweetie, I know exactly how you feel I experienced some of the same issues with my it felt like straw and it would tangle so easily it was falling out and come to find I was suffering from mineral deficiencies especially my iron it was so low that I had to have iron infusions and now I have to take prescription strength iron tablets everyday and I take prescription strength vitamin D2 once a week along with a good multivitamin and I start eating better I had stopped eating meat and diary and I wasn't replacing the nutrients my body needed so I my doctor sent me to nutritional class and I learned how to eat vegan and still get the nutrients needed for me to thrive so you may want go see a doctor and have some blood test and have your doctor do a metabolic test that way they see if you have any deficiencies I learned that I'm anemic hence the prescription strength iron I have to take but my hair is soft and much easier to manage and I no longer hate washing it, it maintains moisture again.

@denyshadials5702 Жыл бұрын
The only neglect is maintenance trims. Get a good one and you’ll be right as rain. You don’t really need bond builders and protein treatments because you’ll get better results in your Ayurvedic treatments. And your hairs not lacking in strength, it’s the elasticity. Olaplex doesn’t have a high efficacy rate, which you can see in nearly all the videos-there’s little to no change in the hair over time. A good commercial elasticity treatment in from Aphogee, but I wouldn’t do that unless the trim doesn’t give you an instant recovery. I’m certain it will. PS I’m a speech therapist too, the lisp is extremely mild, which most of us don’t even treat anymore anyway because it’s an easy fix you can do on your own. Just practice ‘hiding your tongue behind your teeth’ and try to remember it in conversation. You don’t need to pay for weeks of therapy.

I love Olaplex.. I have coily/kinky hair that's naturally dry. I used to have a similar problem with brittle hair bits everywhere. I started using Olaplex 0 & 3 every other week and I use conditioners with mild protein in it when I wash/cowash, and it's been a great balance for my hair-- no more brittleness! And I still use henna glosses too-- I will never give them up 😂😂

Something like this happened to me but with Amla I used it once and after that my hair became sensitive to any strengthening ingredient including aloe and plant extracts it was so sensitive to the point it actually started falling breaking and became extremely dry and brittle because I was not aware of what exactly was happening until it was too late herbs work for some not for me when my hair was it’s healthiest and longest all I used was shampoo conditioner and the same styling product never switched it up, my hair went downhill when I started rotating products unnecessarily and amla was the end of my hair health but the beginning of true knowledge of my own strands

Why not trim? Your hair will grow longer and thicker if you do. The ends need to go before they damage all of your hair. You can’t repair them. I would give up all the Ayurvedic, henna and diy. I learned from experience they are very bad. I lost like half my length and density from it. Natural is not better. I had to learn the hard way. I’ve cut so much hair the past couple years and still have not fully recovered….but getting there.

Things that can make your hair hard and dry, causing it to split: Beef, Chicken, iron, protein overload, be careful with coconut oi, as this is a protein. Wheat is the worst for hair by mouth or in products, NO wheat protein allowed in shampoos or conditioners, eggs, some yogurts and milk. Silicones can make your hair really hard and stiff, as silicones are as plastic in your hair. Keep your hair trimmed, you don't have to do a major cut, but a trim to stop the breakage, so your hair will continue to grow long and thick. Your hair will thrive and thank you for it. Have you ever tried to get a silk press, or wash and set??? You really have pretty hair; you just need it to be smoother and softer. Hopefully you do not have hard water. Have you ever tried a mild relaxer or texturizer you comb through for a couple of minutes??? If you use one of these make sure you do not use Henna, as henna and mild relaxers and textures don't mix. Also, be careful of fruit, as it is very drying to the hair and skin. And whatever you do stay in the word of God. 👉📖 😇
