I agree. I’ve started deep conditioning and using leave ins over the last month and have seen tremendous improvements. I also cowash in between washes now. Additionally, I started using the Chebe powder that I purchased when I was in West Africa and it definitely helps with moisture. I’m doing mostly twist outs now. I like WNG’s but my hair does better with twists and twists outs. Oh and my scalp enjoys certain oils and I use K18 oil now on my strands. I’m also done with permanent hair color. My hair has transformed tremendously in this last month that I switched my program up. I’m going to remain positive and keep speaking love/life/prosperity into all aspects of my life. Thank you for sharing your journey :)

👍🏾💯 💯. I realized the 30 detox is a reset. I don't think it's good for your hair beyond the 30 days. The styles on the models usually have hair to their ears or shoulders.

Agreed and should only be for ones who may have been using heavy butters and need a reset. Oils and butters are essential to afro type hair . I am learning so much from reading and educating myself. Knowledge is power and that’s why I am advocating that we all take the time to read so no one can ultimately fool you.

There’s so much I’m leaving behind in 2023 😂.. the biggest thing is “inconsistency” .. when I was washing and luvin up on my hair every week I could tell the difference/health of my hair and lately I’ve been all over the place and I can tell my hair is like girl you need to get it together 🤦🏾‍♀️

Hi Rosie, one thing I’m leaving in 2023 is not implementing deep conditioning in my routine. I have always washed, and used wash out conditioner followed by leave-ins. In fact, I often hydrate & moisturize my hair in between washes with a mist of water & leave-in conditioner or a curl cream. I do this because I can go max 3 days before my hair needs some type of moisture. My hair naturally dries really fast unless I use heavy products that slow the drying process. I learned a while ago my hair needs something to slow the drying so I’ve always used a leave-in or some kind of cream, pudding or milk. lol ( I don’t know why products have so many food references instead of just calling them hydrators, moisturizers, or activators, etc). Because of this I didn’t think I needed deep conditioner. I should mention that I suffer from anemia which is a contributing factor to the dryness I experience.
@rosieamelia5955
@rosieamelia5955 10 ай бұрын
Yes I think with most people who practice health hydrating process can most likely live without one. In the past I wasn’t a using weekly deep conditioner but my hair was healthy. I did prefer deep conditioners though because washing my hair is self care. But hopefully as my hair progresses back to health I can go back to maybe every other week.

Even winters here is another issue because the hair gets very dry. I would add that the frequency with which you wash your hair should be driven with the amount of product you put in it. Cleansing the scalp is important so it should be 'routine'... whatever that is for your hair. How you use Heat in your regiment, how often you trim, understanding the Basics Anatomy of HAIR, the particulars of Black hair and the specifics of YOUR HAIR. That's key! Then find the products that work with your hair and stick to them.

Emphasis on being a lab rat!!! When people were asking for long hair examples and there were NONE. That's when I really starting side-eyeing the method. Instead they spent more time trying to convince people they don't really want long hair lol so manipulative if you think about it. Welp you live and you learn. I'm still contemplating if I just want to big chop and start from scratch or gradually get cuts and grow out the damage but I'm still on the hunt for a stylist in my area I can trust to cut my hair... Thank you Rosie, Shelly and Narada (AfrikanHairGod) for speaking up!

I also need at least one more cut 👀, and I should be good to start growing out and just getting regular trims. But honestly when you cut and you start seeing and feeling the difference on (wash how many hours I want days 👀) it’s a no brainer! I am grateful that with all the ladies sharing their experiences including the ones who commented and shared what they were experiencing. That made such a difference 🙌🏾. For me, some of the rules just never made sense. The one thing they should've focused on is the importance of washing your hair well & regularly. As long as you're doing that, plus conditioning, I simply can't understand why using oil/butters/leave ins would be harmful. It's all a stylistic choice based on how you want your hair to look & last. I hated that they talked like they were scientists...they talked with such authority

Water is my cleaner, followed by a rinse out conditioner, leave in and then styler ( jello shot) bi weekly. Use co wash for my cleanser weekly and clay detox to remove build up as needed.
