Thank you for sharing your experience with Wren and Bear's mite infestation. My own hamster went through a similar ordeal recently, and I found your video incredibly informative and helpful, especially since my vet wasn't as knowledgeable about hamster care. I have learned so much from your tips and advice, and I truly appreciate the effort you've put into documenting your journey. Wishing Wren and Bear a speedy recovery! 🐹💕

About the bin cage, if you can find a 189L storage bin, that’s probably the best you can find out there, it’s larger

Had the same problem a few weeks ago. I did the same things you just did and it worked!💪🏻 They came from the soil of some 'rodent grass' I bought. Fortunatley for my hamster, these kind of mites don't live in the fur; just in soil/ moist areas.

I've just treated my ham Bob for mites today. He's in a temp bin cage and I've just gutted everything and used the kleen green spray like you and chucked boiled water over the cage stuff. Praying it's enough to get rid along with ivermectin 🤞thanks for the informative video 😊

We just got our first hamster, Cookie 5 days ago from a local pet shop and noticed mites in his home when cleaning it out. I can't believe it! They said hamsters are flea treated when they come in and that he was there for 2 weeks before we got him. Well where could the mites have come from then? Everything is brand new and fresh. Watching this video was helpful but omg what a hassle! I called the pet shop and they said they will give me flea treatment for free. Will Cookie still need to see a vet? And do fleas stay on our clothes too? How do we wash our clothes differently?
@TheHamsterRoomАй бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear that! Mites can come from any hamster item that hasn't been baked/frozen (depending on the item) before using. Yes, take him to the exotic vets so they can identify the mites and give the correct treatment, as fleas and mites are different. I wouldn't personally take any medication from the pet shop as they aren't vets. It really is an annoying process to deal with mites, I hope it all goes well for you❤️

Will you be using coconut fiber again? I JUST got some yesterday for my hamster and I didn’t know you’re supposed to freeze them??? Now I’m scared 😭😅
@TheHamsterRoom3 ай бұрын
@@erinelephantz The best way to prepare coconut soil if it's already loose is to bake it in the oven at a low temperature, that's more effective than freezing so if you do that hopefully you won't get mites🤞I've never had an issue with coconut soil before and mites can come from almost anything so I wouldn't worry too much about coconut soil specifically, as long as you bake/freeze things before using them, you should be ok

@@TheHamsterRoom For Syrians there is an over the counter treatment on amazon - my vet recommended it to me after a consultation since they were out of stock of the usual treatment and it worked for my hamster but I know it's still a bit risky since ideally the hamster needs to be seen by the vet so they can give a full check-up
