Hey folks! In today’s video we’re back with more Gold Stake Balatro. In this run, several Ectoplasms became available thanks to playing on Ghost Deck and, since most of my scoring came from my Jokers, I took every single one offered, eventually dropping my hand size to 1. Enjoy the video!
Balatro is a poker roguelike deck building game centered around creating powerful synergies and winning with big hands. In it, you can combine valid poker hands with unique Jokers in order to create varied synergies and builds. Earn enough chips to beat blinds, including challenging boss blinds, to make it to the next ante and progress your run!

Roffle's right - you still die on hand size 0 even with Certificate. The extra card is created after the full hand is drawn, and also after the check is made to see if you die to zero cards.

it'd be a neat easter egg effect with cert if it actually did prevent you from dying to 0 card hands, at least for the first hand of a round

I believe it's the same thing with adding more hands with burglar, hence why you still get +3 hands when entering The Needle's blind

Certificate could technically save you from dieing from hand size 0 but you would be unable to use arcana packs since they require hand size to be at least one so you can be able to actually use them.

What's weird is that you die if your hand size is 0, but if your number of hands is 0 or lower it will automatically reset it to one

It's not the size of the deck what counts, it's how well you're capable of using it. Some 8 of diamonds can give more pleasure than many face cards.

Why not brainstorm burglar before every blind for the extra money? I know in grand scheme it wouldn’t have mattered, anyway, been loving the Balatro content!

@@Rurike true, it is minor. I guess I was just thinking the little bit more each blind for reroll and planets. I know towards the end it wouldn’t have made a difference.

@@QuackersPI The danger in that is forgetting to change it back for the score. I know I've made that mistake when I was blueprinting three different jokers (shop, round start, score).

@@MarcelVos I would usually agree but Roffle is pretty good at juggling that in previous runs. With burglar specifically, you’d have a ton of time to realize your mistake with 3 more extra hands too imo

Does anyone know if there is a good video on how to have runs like this? All my runs end up with me just scraping by, meanwhile it seems many others are destroying it.

Its the sample size. A lot of runs are not posted, where the streamers and video makes get terrible luck, scrape by and just end up dying mid run in higher difficulties. But overall game knowledge and skill will mitigate the RNG

I don't understand why people even bother with fishing for straights in Balatro anymore, you always get at least 20 fewer points than a flush, which you're about 3x more likely to get.
