I don't know about the US, but in Canada, it's illegal to carry tool that can be used to unlock stuff, unless you are a locksmith and on duty. The tools part is ok, but the locksmith stuff is a no no.

@@johncollier1992 You can buy them on eBay or Amazon, but unless you are a locksmith, you cannot have them in your possession. They call them instrument used for steeling.

@@michelrail It depends on the state but in nyc its considered a tool for attempted burglary if found in your possession outside, That being said i still walk around with my kit here daily. When your net doing anything illegal theres normally not a problem and even if your hassled by some police you can still explain why you have such a kit in the first place. I don't even red team and have never been arrested. Words are your greatest asset. Learn as much as you can if your in this field.

I finally got to use my tubular pick "in the field." My mechanic called me one night because a customer had his car towed into the shop using one of those RV tow-behind apparatus that attaches to the front bumper with tubular locks. The customer told my mechanic to just cut the locks off but he didn't want to do that so he called me and asked if I could help. Yes. Yes, I can :D

Those USBCell batteries were on ThinkGeek a while back, they actually predate Kickstarter by a decent margin. I bought a set for my dad and as far as I know he still uses them in his wireless mouse. I've switched to eneloops for my flashlights and little electronic gadgets, but when those USBCell batteries came out they were the coolest thing around.

@JCH754 is the most common key that is padlock sized. It will open a variety of different filing cabinets, key boxes, etc.

This is a great video and I'm certain you have the credentials to explain to law enforcement and airport security why you are in possession of such items . I say this because a business acquaintance had his wallet searched while visiting the UK . He had 3 small picks and a tensioner . He was questioned and detained for 5 hours and those items were confiscated . Passport was stamped with a security alert . Have you encountered this situation while travelling abroad ? When i was 15yo, my father and I were moving books with a trailer. For the night we had to chain it to a streetlight post with a lock he just happened to lose the key. Fast-forward, I'm trusted to saw it (manually) at 4:45 am so we could load the books and be in time to hit the road. So yeah, having some knowledge on how to oick a lock would been awesome back then 😂

@MrLodinn Knowing you are prepared allows you the confidence to do great things. Ambiguity, false info, doubt and indecisiveness are the great productivity killers. Knowledge and skills of all types only increase a person's viability as a human, often in ways unforseen. Plus I've been locked out before and I can't tell you how pissed off I was so Dev's channel is quite useful imho. Glad to see like minded commenters :)

I learned how to pick locks as a kid. It became an invaluable skill when I started working in construction and the military. You really do never know when you need to break into a building on the fly.

Such tools, So stuff, Many usefulness, Wow :D I'm one who is more interested in lock picking and non-destructive entry techniques for the purposes of locksmithing, repair, and restoration so this kit was pretty awesome and I was glad to see a screwdriver be the first thing out. Picks and shims are great but so many kits are missing a basic screwdriver and pliers :/ Why bother with a lock at all if you can just remove a hasp or hinges on a poorly hung door/lid/etc?

I tell security I’m a magician and escape artist. I have handcuffs in my bag and can demo shimming to escape them. If I don’t have the cuffs I can do a magic trick. This always satisfies them!

More important question how do you get through the airport with these things. I would love to have at least a pocket knife and screwdriver (preferably Sonic) with me but I'm afraid of all the stuff that's even lesser than that getting taken, all it takes is somebody to say I don't like that and mixing another rug machine through (speech to text that is a piece of work, digging through) your bag and who knows what might not make it back.

FYI, the folding magnifier/loupe is termed a "linen tester" after its original use; searching for that phrase is the best way to find that particular form factor if you're looking to buy one.

Second: I hate it when people are correcting other persons. I also get corrected sometimes when i write in English, specially by Americans. Znter make AA, AAA and 9v batteries with micro USB port charging (socket on the side of the battery - you need to carry a charging cable for these ones). The ones I had seemed to work pretty well (until I gave them away). I got mine from HobbyKing, but they're all over eBay and the likes too.

I had come across a small flat LAB kit 003/ 8" by 6" less than 1/2" thick you should add one of these in your kit as it is definitely worth it. Btw thanks for some of the ideas. I'm restocking my crash kit for lockouts while adding this comment.

Who sells the UV dust? I am also looking for something like the old Brinks UV security marker which are semi permanent. If you have UV ink you can really screw with someone by spraying the ink on paper currency. Will really screw with bill validaters so use with caution.
