Part 5 - 1954 Friedrich Kelmer is released from the Gulag. With the help of a friend and his wife, he travels to Sochi (a city on the Black Sea, Russia). There he meets the wife's cousin. Mr. Kelmer and his cousin get married. Intended as a marriage of convenience, decades later they celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. They have three children. But Mr. Kelmer not only has a fulfilling marriage after his time in the Russian Gulag. At the time of the Soviet Union's New Land Campaign, he works in a variety of jobs. For example, as an accountant on a pig farm, as a film development specialist, and as a volunteer for the police. He studies medicine and Marxism-Leninism and becomes a party member of the CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet Union). Mr. Kelmer is happy.
The odyssey of Friedrich Kelmer. Part 5/6.
Contemporary witness Friedrich Kelmer (*1920). Recorded: 2006

Sauinteressant. Der Mann hat was aufgebaut, wo immer man ihn auch geschickt hat. Die Deutschen haben einen grossen Respekt vor den Deutschen und ihrem Fleiss, schon seit den Tagen von Katarina.
