During my hardest semester I did half a semester of coding in one single night. The crazy thing is my code worked completely flawlessly on the first run. I felt like an absolute legend because the other half took me weeks combined since I kept having problems getting it to work. Then I had to write a 30 page report and prepare presentation on it, barely finishing in time for the presentation after being awake for over 48 hours straight. In summary, I thought I was completely screwed but somehow I pulled it off and the project was worth 60% of my final grade. I ended up getting a solid A in the course :D

Learning to build administrative complex private structures. Yep. That's how it's done. I received a BSc in '77 and MSc '79 in Civil/Structural Engineering. GPA 3.6+. Never skipped class. Did the homework when assigned. Worked extra problems. Focused on the questions I got wrong. Part time work as a lab tech. And, I had a girlfriend (also an engineer). To be fair, I think engineering students today are expected to learn more now a in shorter time than I did, and that would have made my achievements, such as they are, unattainable. Oh, and he is right about the math. Take all you can.

It's honestly a shame most labs count as 1 credit hour. None of my electrical engineering labs were short. Most had 3-4 prep hours, 2-3 in lab hours, and then 2+ hours of report writing. I was taking 17-18 credit hours each semester so labs had a pretty big impact on time left to do hw and study. I also began college as a physics major and can definitely say that the classes were really interesting. Very tough though. Switched because I wanted more freedom with where I was working after school. You had much better study habits than me though it seems.

One bit of advice I have for students. Don't just copy homework. I know he said in the video that don't get the homework from someone else, but tbh I don't agree with that since often times it's encouraged to work on assignments with a friend/study group. The key here is though to not just copy and paste what they did, but rather understand their methodology. For example, in my differential equations 2 course, I really was having a hard time with dirichlet problems, laplacian transforms, solving heat and wave equations applications, etc. But my friends had it down pat. We worked on it together but they understood it so well at the time they were flying through it. Instead of copying them, I worked on the problem myself and asked questions about why they made the steps they were making or how they came to a specific conclusion into solving the problems. Up came the 2nd exam of 3 total for the semester and I got a 96%! Where as for my friends, I think they got around 70-80% range. Point is they understood how the problems were solved from the notes but they didn't know why the professor solved the problems with specific steps/methods.
