Looks like it was broken before you got it, so great that you caught it before something really went sideways. I’m a big fan of all the chrome and the style you chose really works, the bike looks great. On the upside, this will give tons of video content that is core repair and not just bolton’s; Replacing the transmission and possibly upgrading it, Doing a whole primary series with potential repairs and upgrades; clutches, chain tensioners and compensators are each a video in and of themselves. Seeing it will be winter soon maybe an engine build or at least a cam upgrade while you’re there. Sad that it’s all expensive but looking forward to following along - thanks

This was similar to how I replaced my motor mounts on my 109R. The pole slides out and then I pulled the old robber mounts and when the put back the pole that holds the mounts in place, lock tight and done. And I learned from KZbin university. Good luck.
@rickykeaton92362 ай бұрын
When one or both of those bushings wear out, it lets the swing arm pivot, that causes that wobble going down the road and it also causes it to break the transmission housing, housing,because the transmission is on that shaft tight and it puts way too much pressure on it so when it started Wobbling more is when it broke all the way. Bush 33:11 ings probably should’ve been changed a few years ago and that problem would not happen. it’s common with those old Harleys. If you know a good welder, they can weld it back together, off the bike, of course😢

My harbor freight motorcycle ramp is in my 40 ft storage unit, covered with DVDs, motorcycle parts on boxes, misc, etc. I bought a 88' goldwing to ride while working on cam chain tensioners in twin cam 88. Now I'm digging a 12 ft hole in front of my door for concrete pad. I need to properly get GW up an off it's center stand. Being a "B" in dirt an rock. Eric, you have to also check the front motor mount. It is under the oil filter and is critical to stress on the engine to pivot alignment. Power applied to rear wheel will push the swing arm toward the front of the bike because the wheel axle pushes from both sides and transfers to the frame. The engine/transmission will push to the back of the bike on the left side and pull forward on the right side. The 2002 bike only has the one engine mount at the front and the tranny pivot at the back. The top one is to keep it vertical. So when the front rubber mount under the oil filter is bad it will stress that tranny hole at the pivot as the engine pulls left. Only trying to say please check front mount please, for Tanya's sake... They put two engine mounts on the sides for later models. Every oil change will soak that front rubber mount, get a polyurethane mount to keep oil from deteriorating it. Harley part is 16207-79D and the D means they have updated the design/composition 4 times.

The positives out of this are that no one got hurt, and it didn't happen on the road or at the event. Fractures can happen on cast metal parts that are integral to the overall framework. You'll get it fixed, and learn a lot in the process. Today's outside the obvious TWSS is 3: "Pull it out, put it back in." "Put it in properly so it's good-n-tight." I see a lot of people recommending 6 speeds. First, all HD and aftermarket transmissions have a 1:1 top gear ratio. 4, 5 or 6 speed. They would have to specifically get one that's listed as an overdrive unit that comes in it's own case. Big investment. Also, that short stroke 88 wouldn't be happy at that low rpm on the highway in 6th. They want to be in the beginning of the powerband (2500-3000rpm) around 60-70 mph. A 131 inch stroker TC would be an entirely different story.....
