Bravo maestro - I totally enjoy your performances and look forward to them. -- I am an organ enthusiast and beginner [at 74 years old 😄] I converted a Rodgers 769 to MIDI and run Hauptwerk with a 27” iMac with a Touch screen attachment. This enables me to touch the stop tabs and draw knobs on the iMac screen instead of using a mouse to activate them. I am not sure of the availability of this product but thought I might send this information to you if you want to do some research. The product attaches to the front of the computer screen magnetically and connects with a USB connection. The product name is Zorro Macsk Series designed for iMac,just plug this touchscreen into iMac with USB,you will have a touch screen iMac in 10 seconds.Product is applicable to iMac 21.5" and 27". - thanks again for sharing your wonderful gift with us.

That is awesome, and I loved your interpretation of Pièce Héroïque. I am also planning to put together a MIDI organ for learning. Would 2 manuals be enough for most pieces, or should I think about 3 ?
@jfp28163 жыл бұрын
You can't play on more than two manuals at the same time. So that should be already quite good.
@andrewjkm13 жыл бұрын
It depends entirely on the repertoire you want to play. (Well, possibly also the sample set(s) you want to use.) I would suggest three as being the most flexible option, which allows a 4-manual sample set to be more easily used (via a floating division) than would be possible on a tot-manual console.
@andrewjkm13 жыл бұрын
@@jfp2816 But on e frequently needs access to a third, or to the stop options provided by a third…
@oliverfiedler85023 жыл бұрын
i guess it's a question of priorities, i would choose two wooden keyboards with a great feeling than five plastic ones... there is nothing worse than an organ that is not fun to play so try to figure out what gives a good feeling to you @JF P if you don't know Dan S. technical possibilities you should not judge them ;-) there are lots of people who CAN play on more than two manuals at the same time...
@aBachwardsfellow3 жыл бұрын
Given the configurability of Hauptwerk, and depending on what you want to play you may find 2 manuals are sufficient for 80% - 90% of it and a bit constrained for the rest. If you're considering that 2 manuals may be enough, then you would likely be comfortable and have no regrets with having 3 manuals.
@aBachwardsfellow3 жыл бұрын
LOL "rude" indeed! - but hopefully "works" in all such instances ;-) Perhaps call it the Gartshorgan? Or the OMG! (oh mein Gartshorgan) Or Das Gartshorgel Ok - I'm ready to hear "Nancy" play the Hokey-Pokey - it only seems apropos - You put your right foot in, you take your right foot out, you put your right foot in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around (here pick up feet and spin around on the organ bench - do NOT fall off!). That’s what it’s all about. You put your left foot in, you take your left foot out, you put your left foot in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That’s what it’s all about. You put your right arm in, you take your right arm out, you put your right arm in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That’s what it’s all about. You put your left arm in, you take your left arm out, you put your left arm in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That’s what it’s all about. You put your head in, you take your head out, you put your head in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That’s what it’s all about. . . . You put your whole self in, you take your whole self out, you put your whole self in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around. That’s what it’s all about.

The only uber-weird thing in the Hauptwerk business is that obtaining the pedalboard seems impossible and always a result of a Byzantine labyrinth of mysterious networking (knowing someone who knows someone who happens to..., etc.) OR making one yourself, like adapting an old Hammond or Lowrey or something to MIDI, soldering iron in hand. It seems like there is no obvious way to simply _order_ a new 32-note MIDI pedalboard anywhere. Is this true or am I missing something obvious?
@user-746523 жыл бұрын
I think I have seen a few sites that sell pedalboards, but they cost well over $1000.

Old Church organ pedalboards come up for sale on Ebay from time to time and they can be easily modified to use with Hauptwerk using the sorts of modules Fraser got hold of. His premesis are about to be demolished so these need to go quick, if anyone is in need!

@Synth Player is of course absolutely right, if you can't sing, you shouldn't dare to want to make music (and certainly not by inventing a tool where you press keys) Just a few years ago some experts calculated how many calculating machines the world needs (which make mathematical sense) but since I'm only a small on-site organist I prefer to leave it to others to judge how they use instruments (tools) and whether that makes sense... btw: i'm sure a devils device like this Digital Monster should not be named "Organ" and never be heard anywhere ;-)
