Many of you have asked me to talk about my heart attack. In this video I describe the symptoms I had, and how they were not what I expected. I hope talking about this helps others. Thanks to all of you for your support and prayers through this time!

I was just diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. I'm 43 I was a heavy smoker and drinker and ate fast food and junk food constantly. When I went to the E.R. my blood pressure was 220 over 160 The paramedics thought I was doing meth! I took life for granted and now I thank God when I wake up in the morning! Your heart health is no joke! Take care of yourselves!

Wow I'm sorry for your loss. My father also had a heart attack last Friday, and fortunately he's still kicking and will probably be discharged today. He's smoked since before I was born and I'm 28 now. The Dr told him he'll NEVER be able to pickup a cigarette again. I just hope and pray my father has the will power to stop. He's 65yrs old I believe. The world would be a much better place if cigarettes were never invented...

@@mikemarshall4830 not true. Smoking damages the cardio vascular system, at night our bodies release cholesterol as it does ever time you light up.. this cholesterol fills the damage. It's a slow buildup that is accelerated when you smoke, and happens in a vicious circle. For most, first us diet is the least of issue.

I;m glad to that you shared your story and I'm also glad you are OK now. I'd like to share my story with your viewers if you don't mind. I had 3 heart attacks in one day back in December. I woke up at 4:00 am with chest pressure I thought was heart burn. I really felt like I needed to burp. I took 2 Alka-Seltzer and started walking around and even went outside for a smoke and to walk around to try and work up a burp. I started feeling better so went back to sleep. About 10 am the next morning I was eating a bagel and a glass of milk then the heart burn started again, then I was short of breath, then got dizzy and I was really scared. I knew something was wrong and I drove myself to the ER and they said my blood work showed I had suffered a heart attack. I was admitted for tests right away for the following day but before I could be tested the doctors and nursed came into my room at 5 am and asked if I was OK. I said I felt fine then about 2 minutes later I had my third heart attack. The doctor told me they needed to do something for me or they were afraid they would lose me. 2 hours later they completed surgery where they installed two stents in my heart. The reason I had heart attacks while at rest was because the blocked arteries were semi collapsed because of low blood flow from a slow heart rate. The plaque in your arteries is sticky and made my arteries stay closed keeping oxygen from getting to my heart. The second and third attacks really hurt and scared the hell out of me. Before having the heart attacks I had been feeling weak and everything I did felt like a chore. I chocked it up to getting older, I'm 62. People, pay attention to your body, don't smoke and if you do, quit. See your doctor regularly and exercise as much as you can. I couldn't believe it was happening to me, not me, heart attacks happen to other people, not me. Thanks for reading my comment.

Very similar story to mine, upper back pain for a day, woke up to get ready for work, sat up, got dizzy, then just felt like my entire insides dropped like a roller coaster. I realized something was wrong, told my wife to drive me to the hospital (4 min away), started feeling nauseated when getting in the car, vomited as we pulled into the hospital, they rushed me in and got me hooked up and said you are having a STEMI (affectionately known as the widowmaker). They transported me to the next hospital lights and siren, I went directly into the cath lab and 15 min later had a stent in place. I had a 100% blockage of my LAD artery. Had I delayed any, it would have been a different outcome. I was 54, and my father passed away at 54 of a heart attack.

Back in 1985 my dad, a chain smoker had a pain in his left shoulder for months. He went to the doctor for it and was given pain pills. I remember him putting an ice pack on it and wearing a sling at one point. He worked nights and before he went to work that afternoon the pain got worst and he broke out in a sweat. He ended up going anyway and around midnight the pain got bad and he was sick to his stomach and sweating. He drove himself to the VA hospital and when he walked into the lobby he collapsed. He had a massive heart attack. They scheduled the surgery and he went home with a bottle of nitroglycerin. He had to use it several times over the next month. He had quadruple bypass by the famous heart surgeon Dr Debakey. He actually walked the Baylor College students through it from what I hear. He made a full recovery and didn't even need to take any meds till the late 90s. Got had to get stents put in a few times. He lived till 2015 when his heart finally gave out at age 80.

So glad you are well. I'm a Type 2 diabetic and have had strange sensations/pains for months and went to a cardiologist for all the testing but everything is fine. I have the same pains in my upper back, near my neck and also my left shoulder, my entire left arm down to my fingers, and my right arm sometimes, my jaw, weakness and exhaustion. It happens at rest as well as when exercising. Went to the ER and the dr said my blood sugar was high, no heart issues. He said it might be neurological. I think a CAT scan might be a good idea in my case. Just thought I'd mention all this for any other diabetics watching.

Hey Matt, thanks for sharing with us. I'm so glad you're doing better now. I drink a little bit and I smoke cigarettes sometimes and I'm worried about how these vices have effected my health. I'm in my mid 30s now so I think it's time to give up the smoking for good. Stay healthy, man. Love your videos.

Thanks for telling your story Matt. I was admitted in the hospital ten years ago as I suspected I was having an MI. My grandfather had several from his thirties to sixty-three when he had a massive heart attack and passed. He never smoked, drank and was not overweight. My mother had a massive heart attack in the early nineties and lived for several more years. For the past two weeks I've been having noticeable chest pains and waking up where my sheets were drenched. I moved up my cardiologist and they were NOT happy I didn't go to ER. I got really scared because I didn't feel right and was somewhat lightheaded and both arms went numb and my finger tips were tingly. Then, the right side of my face went numb as I had been taking nitro on/off and symptoms weren't really abating. I have never smoked or done drugs but I do drink heavily and am a good thirty to forty pounds overweight. I'm hypothyroid for twenty-five years now. The EKG was unremarkable and they didn't draw blood for Triponin. I've been through two flat down stress tests and the Doctor had me go in for a heart catherization the next day. The procedure indicated no calcification and my arteries were clear thank God.

oh, then what was the cause of sweat drench? anxiety?
@OSTARAEB4

@@UwUPLAYZ. Probably. I've had a couple more ER episodes and I think it was anxiety but I didn't want to risk waiting them out in case and also diagnosed with Afib. I'm one that could detect the times I went into it with the strange chest feeling and the gallops knowing something was amiss.

Great video, thank you for sharing your experience! I had almost the exact thing happen after an argument with my wife - the pain, the breathing, the soreness for days afterwards. About a week and a half later, I mentioned it to my doctor and they did an EKG (I think that's what it was) and confirmed that I had recently experienced a "light cardiac event" of some kind. It was rather shocking news, since as you point out, we think of heart attacks as "Ack!" grabbing the chest and fainting or whatnot. If nothing else, your video confirms that what I felt was probably a light heart attack. Which really sucks, 'cuz I'm only 43. Ah, well. Thanks again, though!

Before my heart surgery for a single bypass, the only symptoms I had was slight chest pressure, no hard pain, but pain in my neck and jaw. My wife, a retired Nurse insisted I get checked out so we went to the ER around 9:PM. Resting, they didn't see any major problem but due to having a 40% blockage years earlier, they admitted me for testing.Long story short, there was some damage near where the blockage was and they couldn't get a stent in so I had a bypass, robotically. Everything was fine after that for five months, then a three week bout with AFIB, six months later in Sept. of 2019 AFIB started again and won't go away, one cardioversion did not work so I will have an ablation in the next month..!!
