I had post-game depression after beating this game for about a week. The bond of brotherly love severed by Josh dying and the way they presented it stayed with me for a long time. This was a well-written video game.

I wouldn't say that about 15..........and 12. >3> Both were products of being lost and confused. Sure 13 also rode the same boat, but they savaged it. 12 couldn't enjoy the same luxury and 15 was so much a mess the "true ending" got canceled in the second half.

What I love about the final phase is that Ultima only refers to the elements by their base properties, while Clive refers to them based on the culture around them. The Eikons were part of humanity's culture and Clive is acknowledging it while Ultima chooses to ignore it.

Clive took on Cids name, so it makes sense to me that he would do the same for Joshua when writing the book. There are many supporting reasons for that: The game begins and ends with Clives voice narrating, a side quest for Harpocrates has them talk about how Clive loves stories and would like to be a writer after all is said and done, Clives left hand partially turns to stone but he writes with his right hand, and Cid has nearly his whole Arm turn to stone while continuing to live on a while longer. Jills prayer was for Clives safe return, but she also cries because she could sense Joshuas death too, leaving her with a very bittersweet moment at the end. She knows the world is better, but at great personal cost. I also love how in most games, the final boss fight is a song about the boss, but in FF16, its a song about Clive and humanity rising up. This game is incredible :)

I do not understand the haters of this game. The producer of this game never promised anything beyond what it is, an Action Packed RPG. And yet, people try to find flaws in the game that aren't in the game. Basically they complain what's not in the game. Which is strange.
@cakerins10 ай бұрын
I agree. If they made a game that almost replicated everything they love about X, VII, or any other beloved game there would still be haters.

Oh. I remember having like a week or so of post-game depression. I actually love that they left the ending open to interpretation. I wholeheartedly believe that Clive survived, but Joshua didn't. Our boy took Joshua's name (like he did with Cid's) and wrote the book. We as a player are reliving the story through his book. The game literally starts and ends like a book would.

It's been so long since I've played this game, and still even after months and months of not playing it. Every time I still see this ending I cry, it's a battle to hold back the tears. Also Ben Starr did an incredible performance as Clive, put his heart and soul into it - I don't know if you knew this but his own father died during his recordings for FF16 and he said in an interview he poured that emotion into his work. You can *really* feel it.

Moongazing. English Lyrics. Note: My Star the English ending song is Jill's feelings towards Clive, the Japanese Ending song Moongazing is how Clive feels about Jill. Moonlight, the willows swaying. I’m just a pebble on the side of the road My mind races at the thought of you, as if I were counting sheep If there’s a reason to say goodbye, at the very least, don’t be sad Go to the other side, separated from the stillness. Touched by a ray of love No matter the nights that come, no matter what we lose We’ve lived together, in the blink of an eye I was looking up at the moon, searching for something When I was frightened by the storm, I’m glad it was you who appeared before me As if none of this had ever happened, I know this fire will never go out, surely When the wind beats at the window, open it just a crack And scream in an unspeakable voice, just one thing. Yes, just one thing If I’m to be reborn, even if I can’t remember I’ll find you, I’ll find you I burned everything and looked at the moon Even if someone would pity me for it I was happy, as long as I was with you Even if it wasn’t entirely right It will never fade Call my name just one more time With your soft voice that gently wraps me The branch I grasped while following the moon, was you I was looking up at the moon, searching for something When I was frightened by the storm, I’m glad it was you who appeared before me As if none of this had ever happened, I know this fire will never go out, surely

I believe in the end, Clive healed Joshua, and used Ultima's power to rid the world of magic and eikons forever. Joshua, wrote a book describing the events of FFXVI and it is so different from the future world (end cutscene) that people believe it was just a fairy tale. So Clive sacrificed everything for everyone else. I have also heard that Joshua Rosfield could be Joshua's son who wrote a book but I tend to believe it was Joshua himself.

There's also another theory/interpretation. The historian in the game says Joshua's true gift wasn't the power of The Phoenix, but his gift for words and how moving/powerful they could be, something he was known for even as an infant. Before the powers of The Phoenix started manifesting within him. When Joshua heals Clive after the first encounter with Barnabas, he explains that only one's body can be healed and that their soul/spirit must fight to return and keep moving on. By the ending, Joshua's soul/spirit has been broken and probably dead for a long time, only his will to help Clive kept a spark lit for him to go onwards. After Ultima was defeated there was no need for him to return, Joshua could finally be at peace. So the theory goes that Clive tried to heal Joshua, but in the end it was for nothing *(it only healed his body)* and he didn't come back because his soul had already passed away a long time ago. Clive didn't die at the ending, he just passed out by the waves and lost his arm, he kept on living and eventually wrote the book and signed Joshua Rosfield as the author, so that his brother's gift with words would live on for generations to come... even centuries later, when Magic and Eikons became just folklore. That's the nice part about FF16's ending. Joshua could have survived and ended up writing the book, it could have been Clive posing as Joshua so that his brother's name would live on... or it could have been just folklore, a work of fantasy, fairy tales told to children all along. I'm sure the devs will never officialize a canon ending to it and that's great, because everyone can have their own :)

@matthewsmith794711 ай бұрын
My opinion about the post credit scene is that Clive wrote the book in Joshua's name to honour and remember him, if you remember the side quests that involves Clive / Dion and Harpocrates at the end he hopes Clive will lay down his sword and pick up the pen as he gives him his quill and write about his adventures. I believe that to be how the book was written.

What i get from the ending was that Joshua survive, clive heals his body but with the power of a God, after absorbs Ultima, he realices that using Gods power damages his body, thats why i think he said wow so this vessels wasnt strong enough, or something similar, and then use all the power of God to ends magic in the world, knowing his body will suffer, and that post credits scene i assume was far on the future so magic its a fairy tale but people learn to live without it, Joshua leave the poof in that book but now its a fairy tale after all the years
