Me too! I don't follow celebrities and although I knew he had addiction issues, I didn't know the extent of it or the background. Now I feel so guilty that I didn't know or didn't do anything about it. After listening to him in his audiobook, I can't get over how much he suffered. It's just not fair. He brought so much joy to millions (billions?) of people, but yet, he was suffering every day of his life. Makes me angry that his family, his friends, co-workers, etc didn't do more to help him. He gave so much of himself to them, but seems like he got only suffering in return. RIP Matty. You were handsome, funny, sensitive, caring and generous. You were one in a million. You'll go down as one of the best comedic geniuses ever.

@@Playsch00l That's probably due to editing. Which is not Colbert's fault. Also, in more general terms, the reason Colbert has to just move on to the next question just when things are getting interesting, is because late night talk shows in the US aren't as much actual talk shows as they are time slots for commercials with a little celebrity chatter in between. Imagine how interesting this interview would have been if it was given some actual time.

@Stephen Conley not trying to be a jerk at all, but he is talented, maybe not in the same way as others, but the amount of laughter he and his 5 cast mates brought to people around the world, is more than I could ever do. That is a talent. Maybe not one you care for and that’s ok. But he is talented and so brave to come on tv, years of the abuse showing so clearly but here he is sharing it all in the hopes to help others. He may not want to act anymore, he may be happy just helping people overcome addiction. Either way much respect to him.

Drugs really damage your heart over time. I hope when the story comes out, he was still sober. The best part of this wonderful man’s story was his valiant fight for sobriety. He never ever gave up. I think of my cousin who fought as hard. She joked that she’d been in rehabbed 50 times, just like Perry used to. Anyway, when my cousin had her heart attack at age 41, she just dropped dead. Just, boom. Over. No pain, just… she was gone. If he was in his hot tub, I hope he was relaxed, the stars were out, and it was quick. Please God, let that be it. He fought so hard. I just pray he was in a good place.

I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and for some reason I checked my phone to see what time it was (I don't usually do that) and it was everywhere. This is one of those times where I am actually speechless. Like I couldn't even get a word or a sound out for a full 10 minutes because I was in such a shock (and still am). Now I've been crying nonstop for about 30 minutes. I haven't even gotten to check or read some of the posts from the cast or other celebrities. Iiterally bought his book a few weeks ago but haven't gotten around to read it. I genuinelly feel like a friend died and I am not ashamed to admit it. It's gonna be hard watching Friends now. I wonder what kind of trauma he had in his childhood and if anybody on here knows. He has all of the hallmarks of someone who had some really traumatic issues when he was really young. I have his book but haven’t read it yet and wondered if he speaks of anything like that. God, I just cannot believe it, What a sad day. He was such a beautiful soul. He was really trying to figure out who he was but I guess God just wanted him to come Home.

5 minutes his heart stopped but he didn’t flatline. AKA - his heart wasn’t beating on its own , they were doing compressions, and the compressions were being done correctly, which is why he didn’t flat line, and a few ribs broke.
@anthosm
@anthosm 2 жыл бұрын
I highly doubt that. The lines in the ECG are from the electrical impulses of the heart. If it's flatlining it means that the pacemaker cells aren't firing up to force the heart to contract. Manual compression will not produce the electrical impulses to be picked up by the heart monitor.

I am a Cardiac Nurse. You don't do CPR unless the patient has flatlined! Flatlined means heart isn't beating. I believe someone was trying to say he wasn't really really dead. Just kind of knocking on heaven's door. Why? Bc he had CPR compressing heart keeping O2 going around. Otherwise no heartbeat for 5 minutes and no O2, means brain damage. He was fortunate to go through that with medical aid around him. Apparently he still has things to do...

Cue Miracle Max: "Whoo-hoo-hoo, look who knows so much. It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive." From the looks of him, I'd say Perry is still mostly dead.

In Matthew Perry’s book, he wrote: “Why is it that the original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?”, and also “I punched a hole through Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room wall when I found out [Chris Farley has died]. Keanu Reeves still walks among us.” Keanu Reeves is apparently one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. Matthew Perry has since apologized.

He said he just 'pulled a name out of thin air', which in passing conversation is one thing, but in the time it takes to write the first page to the last page of a book, you have ample time to rethink and edit your material, not to mention how many other eyes were reading it before publication, so he didn't just pull it out of thin air, it was chosen purposefully and it's mindboggling to think that not one person said 'you know this guy is universally loved, right?'. He could've easily picked someone that was universally loathed, like a Tara Ried type, but he instead went with Keanu.
@jacobpaint
@jacobpaint 2 жыл бұрын
@@Axolotl_Mischief I think there was some connection with Reeve that worked for the joke as bad as it was. Someone like Tara Reed would have been completely out of left field. I feel like this is a joke he might have told after Ledger died, when it might have still been popular to make fun of Keanu. There was a time when Keanu was just considered a terrible actor but he has since turned his public image around. It's incredible to think that even if that joke might have once drawn a laugh that he didn't figure out that it wouldn't work before publishing the book... Maybe their were other things he was more focused on like the part where he outed someone for cheating on her ex-husband, with Perry.

I agree! Perhaps the reason Reeves is still alive is because he avoided drugs & didn't allow himself to get caught up in the Hollywood scene

I like Matthew Perry but that line about Keanu Reeves is just off. Should have put himself as "They died yet I still live?" Unless there's some context missing where putting in a squeeky clean name was needed.
