Ringworm is zoonotic meaning humans can also contract it from animals. I would suggest using gloves whenever you are dealing with ringworm in any type of pet :).

Saskia says that soap doesn't burn their eyes. Scotty says it as well, when I give my girls baths I always wash their face but I keep the water away from their nose. I will just use my hands.

My guinea pigs also had ringworm. We took them to the vet and they recommend the same thing. But it will look like it will get worse then better. It took about two months for them to get better. Just make sure that their cage is clean. Hope this helps!

My girls name is Teddy to and when I first got her I gave them each bath and by the time i was done bathing Teddy i was all wet aa well, Teddy kept trying to climb up me I felt so bad for her but new that after rescuing them from the woerst cage they needed to be cleaned, Saskia says that they will automaticlly close there eyes as soon as you go close to there eyes with anything ao I think that if an accident happened you would have a chance to remove it from her eye before it got into her eye

Omg We just finished our treatment for ringworm (2sphynx cats and myself). I love the fact you are so open about it, more people need to know this is so contageous for animals and humans! Because we got it from a friends house (6animals) and they laught with the fact that I immediately quarantined the cats and started disinfecting every single thing in our house. I hope your pigs get the all clear soon!

Hi Osten, I used a soft baby toothbrush to get the shampoo in difficult areas such as around the eyes, nose & between the toes. You can also use the toothbrush to rinse out most of the soap by brushing the fur downwards and away from the eyes. Best to set them down in the sink with one hand firmly on their back and then you gave more control over the toothbrush whilst cleaning the delicate eye area. Hope that made sense and helps with the process. Lv J xx

Recomendation: you should slather everything to kill the spores. Also need to wash feet very well as that can be where the fungus can live and transfer and retransfer on the the face when they self groom. I like how gentle you were with them.

Something that could potentially be easier for drying the piggies is getting a small wire cage and have a cage dryer so the piggies can move around in the cage, it gives plenty ventilation and might be less stressful on the piggies since their not up high on a counter since I know piggies are prey animals and prefer to be down low and not up high. Hopefully I'm making sense.

For around the eye I would just use hypochlorous acid (I think 0,01 or 0,02 %) I use it in myself and all my animals, even in the eye itself. Completely safe and a game changer for caring for small wounds, fungal infections etc.

Love Winston! He reminds me so much of my young boy😂 I’d like to add that I know bathing the piggies can be scary if it’s not something you do often or have done. The shampoo you use is my personal favorite! It will kill any spores on your piggy thus making it important to wash and scrub around those cute lil ears, down the bridge of the nose and cheeks! You really wanna scrub in the toes,under arms and belly as this is where the spores like to hide. Saskia and ‘@Scottysanimals’ from LA guinea pig rescue have some really great in-depth videos on ringworm care!

Do you have other hides for them to hide in? Or specifically hides made out of fleece? I know a lot of ppl who use just fleece on top of towels etc. will cut the fleece so that they can use binder clips to clip the edges to the sides of the coroplast. Just a few suggestions, hope they help!

It probably started on the feet and spread to the face. Fungal around eye usually needs an oral antifungal from the vet.

Ah, yes ringworm. When I took over care of a bunch of young guinea pigs, they all had ringworm. I ended up having to go with Itrafungol oral treatment as they had spots everywhere and nothing else seemed to be helping. Some of them also had it around their eyes and in their noses, and the shampoo bothered them. I have to say the oral treatment was far easier to make sure they were all fully recovered with minimal stress with so many infected. I believe they contracted it from their mothers after birth as they were not from an ideal situation. I felt stress was a huge part of it. I also cleaned my cage and fleece for a year with F10 to make sure I nuked any spores, probably overkill. To this day, more than 2 years later, I have had no more issues. The great thing was that my significant other, who never had pets until me, really learned to love the piggies as well and now spoils them worse then me after the bathing of so many. So are your piggies squeaky clean or wheeky clean?

Because the sight of infection is so small on Eris, I decided it was okay to put her back in with the herd. Everyone is monitored daily with health checks, every other day.

I don’t recommend using lice shampoo unless they have lice that needs treatment. A great alternative to the Davis shampoo is just simple head and shoulders or any dandruff shampoo. It is the zinc ‘ingredient’ that you’re looking for in these shampoos to kill the spores of the ringworm. Hope this helps!

Hi I have a Guinea Pig a female her name is Pixie. I adoption her and a male name was Pablo. Pablo past away and I was crying for him. But Pixie have her only. Every morning I give her veggies. For later I let her free to walk around my room but I watch her so she doesn't bite any cable. She adult just like Pablo is adult. I love all your videos that you make.
