As a manga reader, as soon as Ben had mentioned that Bakugo was one of his favorite characters in an earlier episode, I immediately went "oh no!" But man this episode is so beautifully directed

Gods, the way they used color and lighting in this episode was a masterclass. Even just looking at Katsuki, the emotions his image evokes completely change from scene to scene because of it. The dim, grungy look as he looks up at the ensuing battle from the ground with tears, blood, and sweat dripping from his face; The innocent, bright white as he stands vulnerable in front of All Might's vestige; The glow he emits from his body, eyes, and soul as he goes beyond and lands a point blank hit on Shigaraki; and of course the cold, sickly desaturated lifelessness of his body on the floor. And of course the direction, sequencing, and fluidity of the whole episode is all amazing. This episode is a masterclass of raw emotion through animation.

Mirio causing Tenko to resurface momentarily was nice. Tamaki's Max power laser COMBINED with a bunch of other animals and Nejire's energy doing less damage than Bakugo's explosion from last episode is kinda wild. ShigAFO kept trying to downplay Bakugo's accomplishments. But Bakugo is the one who burned off nearly half of his face. Bakugo is the one who put the most damage on him. And for just a moment, Bakugo was faster than ShigAFO could perceive. The definition of speed blitzed. Bakugo knew that he was being targeted specifically to hurt Deku. That the other heroes would try and fail to protect him and end up not surviving. So he walked towards certain doom on his own. With his entire body overflowing with pain. Just like Izuku. Analyzing the enemy and mumbling to himself. Just like Izuku. Rushing forward no matter what might happen to his body. Just like Izuku. Last episode Bakugo remembered Izuku saying that Bakugo was himself because he'd never say that he'd rather lose. And so Bakugo thinks to himself in this episode that he has to win. Despite not having OFA, something about Bakugo began to make AFO flustered. Something about Bakugo reminded him of something he'd faced before in the past when he still had his face. And so he struck Bakugo with everything he had. Bakugo landed near his All Might card that he'd kept since childhood with Izuku. In those final moments, Bakugo regretted not asking for an autograph. As the light above faded to rain.

@@AvalancheEz it's not weird when you watch different reaction videos to an anime episode really. I'm indifferent about the copy/paste comments but it is definitely noticeable when you scroll down to read comments. They stand out because they're not really commenting on the reaction videos (obviously as they're copies of the same comments on different videos), rather they're kinda writing their own review of the anime episode, albeit in a dramatic way lol

I made the mistake of browsing a few comments sections for this episode and in addition to manga scum once again spoiling stuff for me, this comment was particularly noticeable due to how wordy it is.

37:25 To follow up on wanting Mirio to have received OFA, just a reminder from a season or two ago, it was reveled that quirk users receiving OFA would have their lifespan shortened. It happened to the 4th user (danger sense) at 40 years old. His body started to deteriorate. Mirio obtaining OFA would have probably done the same.

Gonna be honest, I think it would have 100 percent been worth it for him to have his lifespan shortened. So many other lives would have been saved in the process. And he is selfless enough to be happy about sacrificing most of his life to do so.

In the quiet moments, I could hear a little Himmel in Bakugo. Nobuhiko Okamoto brought Bakugo's energy down to that level to make his peace with All Might and set us up for the ending. It must've been a wild ride, jumping between those characters (and more) in the last couple of years. Great episode. Painful episode.

This and Mushoku Tensei S2 E22 have left me utterly without words at the end of the episode and I both love them for that and hate them for it. The storytelling and cinematography involved in the build up to that reveal at the end - and then the hard cut to credits - it's just a type of perfection you don't see often. And worst of all, it's not continuing this week, we've got to wait a week for the next part!

Because of how Boku no Hero narratively handles fights I think people underestimate how present death is in the series. Before this point, Magne dies, Nighteye dies, Crust dies, Midnight dies, Twice dies, Stars and Stripes dies, every time taking a step up in importance. They do plenty of fake-outs as well, I guess, but I think death is really a lot closer to the characters than most of the fans give it credit for.

It's really subtle but if you listen closely to Shigaraki you can hear them blending and alternating between the voice actor for Shigaraki and the VA for All for One.

I've loved watching Bakugo's character arc, and I honestly think its one of the best written I've ever read/seen. The episode just brought this moment to whole new heights with the music, the animation and the incredible voice acting. The last time I remember the animation being this good for any fight was the Deku vs Kacchan pt 2. It honestly takes a lot of courage to kill off one of your main characters and Horikoshi deserves a lot of props for it. As for your comments about the AllMight vestige and why he saw it, I think it has a link to the Heroes Rising movie. We know that all the movies are confirmed to be cannon. So, if you pay attention to Bakugo's eyes when he speeds up and attacks Shigaraki you'll notice they have the same design as when he fights against Nine with Deku in the movie. Being able to see the vestige was a gift of Bakugo's actions in the movie.

This death blindsided me and first of all to me, this is one of the best anime episodes ever and I didn't have MHA high on my lists. But besides that I think I can say that Bakugo is one of the best written characters ever after this episode, he had so many layers and even though he was a bully, he wasn’t your stereotypical bully, and you could tell he had empathy and he had intelligence and in the end he was thinking of his best friend and empathizing with how much work and pain Deku went through and in the end Bakugo became the epitome of the world’s best hero by committing the ultimate sacrifice to save ppl. Anime deaths don't usually get me but this one did cuz i think I didn't realize how much I liked the character until he died you know?
