I mean, what can I say in life it’s never too late to talk about how you’re feeling and the struggles you’re dealing with and the people that still care about you

I love this episode and the Todoroki family in general. Endeavor sees that Touya on the brink of death is able to utilize Rei's quirk. This isn’t some sign that Touya was the son Enji wanted all along. This is showing Endeavor, "Hey, look. Touya's quirk is finally what you wanted it to be. But your son had to be pushed to the brink of death to make it happen. Was it really worth it?" Everything that Endeavor has ever wanted is slapping him in the face because of how much it hurt his family. So he prepares to take the hurt and vanish along with Touya. Except that doesn't happen. Unlike with Hood and AFO, Endeavor isn't allowed to burn away with a Prominence Burn. Endeavor's arc is about atonement. Death is the easy way out for him. Actually facing what he's done is much harder. Rei felt that she also failed Touya. So she saves both him and Endeavor. The rest of the family has had their chance to hear Endeavor's apology and atonement. Touya has not. So Endeavor is not allowed to die. Speaking of Touya, he finally has the attention of the entire family but it has to be under such cruel circumstances. He wishes it could've happened sooner and thinks that he doesn't want to die yet. There are still moments he wants to experience. But he still hates Endeavor. And a part of him still hates what living represents. So he pours those feelings out and tells how he really feels. And Endeavor listens. Endeavor watches Touya and embraces his emotions. Two things he didn't do when Touya was a kid. This path forward wasn't forged just because of Shoto. It wasn't forged just because of Endeavor and Rei. But all of the family coming together.

She did try talking to him once in a flashback but even as a kid he hated her for not standing up to Endeavor and if she tried to stop him physically he would have literally attacked her. I mean Toya attacked an infant Shoto once because his hate was already so strong.

There's a few panels that they didn't adapt from the manga in this episode but they basically explain that Geten (the ice quirk user in the my villain academia arc) is actually a distant relative of the Todoroki family through Rei and that their Ice quirk is so strong within their bloodline that there might be random people who share their blood that could have latent ice quirks as well. Which also explains why it was so hard for Endeavor to get the balance he wanted from his children.

Honestly one of my favorite episodes, but it surprises me that nobody caught that stain reference in all the reactors that I have seen. With Stain saying "for the sake of others", he was giving them praise because of their fight in season 2 when he called them selfish

I still can’t believe how crazy toya/dabi is, because all he wanted Was to make his dad pay for never paying attention to him and making him his perfect successor and he rather tries to take it out on others even though they didn’t deserve it I guess that’s Toya’s delusional knowing that he wouldn’t blame himself for having a quirk that hurts his body And for thinking that heroes Have all the glory of protecting people which makes them great and what makes him think he’s a failure as a soon to be hero that his own father abandoned him

Nah all he really wanted was his family (mostly his dad) to watch him. If you watch all scenes with him after he reveals himself as Toya he's usually talking about how he wants everyone to watch him.

Can you imagine “dying” coming back years later and hoping your dad changed only to find him beating your little brother senseless. From his perspective they moved on as if he didn’t even exist. Now he just wanted them to watch while he burned everything his dad built

I love the face you used for the thumbnail! I was actually really looking forward to seeing this panel animated, although it wasn't as detailed as the manga, from peoples reactions it looked like it had the same effect lol - Its chapter 386 'I am here' last page if you want to see it. Also they set up All might and the briefcase in season 6, he was looking for Deku and some villians showed up, All might had the suitcase and car, but we never got to find out what happened next...lol look like the pay off for that is coming soon (ish) :-) Also this episode covered 5 chapters lol thats actually a lot

Great episode. One nitpick Dabi cannot cry actual tears, that was on the animation studio. They also tweaked Dabi's dialogue to be a bit more sentimental. He is the most stubborn villain. It's 21 episodes. So two episodes left. The finale is gonna be a real good episode.

Shoto really lives up to being called the “hero of the family” here. And for as monstrous as Touya has become, I feel like it’s only fair for the family to be the ones to ultimately save him from getting himself killed completely. And it was just in the nick of time too, since Endeavor had already given up on him yet again. There’s a lot of complicated feelings happening here, and I honestly wasn’t expecting the whole family to end up on the battlefield, but hey, it’s finally time for Touya to get the attention he’s deserved all this time.

Honestly I don't think what endeavor was initially deciding to do with Dabi and going to the other side together should be considered as giving up in the normal sense, i mean, it's not like he himself had any way to take care of dabi by himself, letting Dabi unalive him makes perfect sense for the moment

@@darknessknows1235 I consider it giving up since he was initially approaching this scenario in order to atone for his past. His decision made sense, but it was Endeavor the hero making that decision, not a man atoning for his past. I do think there were other things he could’ve at least attempted before going for something so drastic. Whether or not they would’ve worked is another can of worms entirely, but I think its fair to say that this was a pretty bad decision if we look at this from the perspective of Endeavor being someone who wants to atone rather than a pro hero. But yeah, agree to disagree.
